Actor Baburaj, who withdrew his nomination from the ongoing AMMA office-bearers election, has called for the newly elected committee to first investigate the case filed against actress Shwetha and determine who linked his name to it.
'If it's found that I have even the slightest part in it, I will quit acting altogether — not just leave the organisation, but stop acting itself,'
Baburaj
said, as reported by Manorama Online.
Allegations surfaced after filing nomination
Baburaj revealed that the accusations began circulating only after he submitted his nomination for the new governing body. During his nearly one-year stint on the ad-hoc committee, he said, there had been no such claims against him. He explained his decision to step aside: 'With so many allegations, I felt it wasn't right to contest the election.'
The actor noted that around 300 members had voted so far, including those unwell, showing how invested the membership is in AMMA's future.

While refusing to elaborate on 'unfortunate misunderstandings' within the association, Baburaj insisted such matters should be addressed in the general body meeting. 'If something is said about me, people will believe it. That wouldn't be the case if it were about someone else,' he remarked, accusing some of spreading propaganda linking him to Shwetha's case because they knew it would gain traction.

Faith in AMMA's strength and democracy
Despite stepping back, Baburaj expressed confidence in the organisation's resilience. 'AMMA is strong, and we will always stand with it. Differences of opinion should be discussed internally,' he said, adding that democracy within AMMA has evolved significantly since his early career. He hoped the newly elected members would ensure smooth governance, transparency, and unity. 'Whoever wins, we will stand with them,' Baburaj concluded.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Baburaj was recently seen in the Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj's action flick 'Coolie'.
