A map of the most popular sweet treats around the globe. And of course, Singapore, self-proclaimed food capital of Asia, is not exempt.
You would have seen the title by now – no, it's not chendol, ice kachang, kueh tutu, or Lao Ban's soya beancurd that Singaporeans used to go feral for, that makes the cut. Instead, the humble pandan cake is named our country's must-try dessert for travellers. Yes, that spongey, fluffy, bright green slice that used to go for $0.70 per piece at your school canteen.
What's special about the dessert is that its distinct green hue isn't the result of artificial colouring, but from the natural dye of pandan leaves. And as underrated as it is, pandan cake has its diehard fans too. Our top contender? Bengawan Solo's pandan chiffon cake – light, fragrant, and a longtime classic. And while not exactly traditional, a close second for us is the sinfully indulgent kaya swiss roll from Rich & Good Cake Shop, made with fresh coconut and infused with pure pandan extract.

MasterChef star Yanin Campos has died following a car crash in Mexico, The 38-year-old was reportedly driving in her hometown, Chihuahua, around 6:30 am on August 2 when she hit a parked vehicle. Alex McGugan, who moved from Britain to Ibiza 13 years ago, has highlighted the alarming increase in deaths amongst British tourists from balcony falls in 2025 A British man in Ibiza has highlighted a worrying trend on the Spanish island and issued advice to all those planning holidays in the region. Alex MacGugan took to TikTok to share a video in which he claimed the problem is occurring "every single year" and will "continue to happen" in the future. His alarming warning concerns balcony falls in the tourist hotspot. In a clip posted this week, he said: "There's been a lot of stuff in the news recently, especially at the big branded hotels about people who have tragically lost their life. That incident has happened again twice in the last three days but you won't have heard much about it as it wasn't at these hotels." Alex went on to urge others not to mess around by balconies - something he has always adhered to in his 13 years living on the island. "Stop climbing over teammates or birds' balconies just because you don't want to use the door," he advised. It's the only thing I can think of as to why people are passing out and falling off balconies." Indeed, last month, two young men died after falling from the balcony at Ibiza Rocks Hotel in San Antonio. Scottish ice hockey player, Gary Kelly, 19, was visiting the island when he fell from the third floor on July 21. It followed the death of another Brit, Evan Thomson, who lost his life after falling from his sixth-floor balcony at the same hotel while celebrating his 26th birthday with friends two weeks prior. In April, meanwhile, a 33-year-old British woman died at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, whilst a 19-year-old Italian tourist of Turkish origin plunged to her death from the fourth-floor at the same hotel in the same month. And last year it was reported by the Mirror that numerous 'balloon men' are giving clubbers a hits of nitrous oxide, known as 'nos' or 'laughing gas' for just €5 a go. Spain has banned the sale of nitrous oxide for recreational use, warning it can cause suffocation, hallucinations and even cardiac arrest. But San Antonio's streets are full of groups of drunk and high Britons openly taking it. A police officer told the Mirror at the time they are almost powerless to stop street dealing. "We arrest some people 20 times, but they go to court and then you see them in the same place again, doing the same thing," he said.

Hettie, known on TikTok as Hettie's Holidays, shared her amusing tale online, causing quite a stir among viewers with her humorous revelation. She couldn't believe that while she had hiked up, others enjoyed a relaxed train journey to the top. Her video quickly became a sensation, racking up over 100,000 likes and proving that a good blunder is always good for a laugh. In her viral clip, she said: "Do you know what's a p*** take when you get to the top of Snowdon? People who have got the train. Firstly, why the hell would you want to get the train to the top of Snowdon? "What is the point? Does that not defeat the whole object? Unless you need to get the train for any specific reason, if you've just done it to come to the top, nah.", reports Wales Online. The TikToker seemed frustrated by the lack of space for her to rest her weary feet. She added: "People are sat up here having a gourmet lunch dressed in Converse, dresses, blouses - sat having like a birthday family lunch, and people have hiked and walked. We're aching, we're freezing and people are just not even offering seats." While Hettie clarified she wasn't demanding they offer their seats, she questioned why one would choose to visit the area just for lunch. She pointed out there's only "one little restaurant" and diners end up surrounded by people who are "really cold". One individual commented: "This reminds me of the time I scaled the Eiffel Tower, and everyone in the lift didn't let me sit down when I got to the top." Another echoed her sentiments, writing: "So with you. Remember when I climbed to the top of the Shard, and everyone got the lift, sat there drinking, enjoying the views. Abseiled back down ASAP." However, not everyone was supportive. A third person responded: "The thing about climbing Snowdon is that it's completely optional. Hope this helps." A fourth added: "You're making it sound like you've done a difficult climb. I've seen eight-year-olds go up Snowdon."
