Bodies of two young boys found inside home as woman arrested

A woman has been arrested after the bodies of two children were discovered during a welfare check.
Emergency services were called to a property on Emu Lane in Coonabarabran, New South Wales just after 2pm on Monday. Inside, cops made the horrific discovery of the bodies of two boys, aged six and seven-years-old.
A 66-year-old woman, believed to be the children's grandmother, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for further evaluation. She is currently under police watch.
Officials have confirmed that the woman and the children were known to each other.
Police have assured that there is no ongoing risk to the public and they are not looking for any other persons related to this incident, reports the Mirror.
NSW Premier Chris Minns expressed his sympathies, saying: "What has occurred is terrible, and as a state we share in the Coonabarabran community's grief over the loss of two young boys who had their whole lives ahead of them.
"I can't begin to imagine the heartbreak their family, friends, and teachers are going through." He also expressed gratitude to local police for their professionalism and bravery in handling the tragic situation.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb confirmed that extra police resources have been sent to the town as the investigation progresses. The inquiry is still ongoing.

The pair confessed to leaving their four children - aged 2, 4, 7, and 10 - in a scorching car while they rushed their fifth child, aged 3, to Little Rock Children's Hospital in Arkansas on July 7, 2024, according to the Pulaski County Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors revealed that the couple's three year old passed away from severe malnutrition, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the other children.
"This case is one of the most disturbing and heartbreaking our office has ever encountered", stated prosecuting attorney Will Jones.
Officials report that Deja, 28, and Justin, 30, locked their four children in the overheated vehicle, which they parked at Arkansas Children's Hospital as they sought "urgent medical treatment" for their 3 year old.
Police were dispatched to the hospital following a report of child abuse and neglect, where they discovered the car outside the facility.
However, Deja and Justin failed to disclose the location of the vehicle to the police, as per the Jacksonville Police Department.
The children were rushed to the hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion. Tragically, the youngest child, two year old Jay'Dien Rollins, succumbed to fatal heat exhaustion and severe malnutrition the next day.
The married couple both admitted guilt to two charges of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree domestic battery.

Heartbreak as human remains found in search for missing teenage girl

Human remains have been found in a heartbreaking end to the search for a missing teenage girl. Police in Queensland, Australia announced the sad news that a body had been found and the family of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop have been notified. The teen was last seen on May 15 when she was headed toward Bundaberg airport in Queensland. She is believed to have been preparing to board a flight at about 8:30am to Brisbane, then on to Perth to meet her boyfriend. Tragically CCTV footage did not show her entering the airport and nearly a month later human remains were found at Good Night Scrub National Park near Gin Gin on June 6. Her housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, have been charged with one count each of murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse. Tributes have been placed near Bundaberg Airport with Pheobe's sister Kaylea placing cards and flowers near a fence, reports the Mirror. They were accompanied by a Pokemon plush toy and a sign that read: "Justice for Pheobe, RIP." Another message left for her said: " Pheobe, you grew your wings too early beautiful girl. "The brief search commenced after further enquires and investigations today, with the discovery being made by specialist units around 2:30pm. "The remains are yet to be formally identified; however, investigators are in contact with the family of missing 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop. "A crime scene has been declared at the location and forensic examinations are continuing. "Police continue to appeal for any information in relation to Pheobe Bishop or the movement of a grey Hyundai IX35 between May 15 to 18 in the greater Gin Gin area. "Investigations continue."

Love Island star Georgia Harrison is set to be awarded an MBE as part of the King's Birthday Honours list next week for her campaigning efforts tacking violence against women Georgia Harrison has made history as the first Love Islander to be awarded an MBE for her campaigning on violence against women and girls. The reality TV star, 30, has reportedly made the King's Birthday Honours list and will officially receive her title next week. She is being recognised for her work to raise awareness of revenge porn and the issues surrounding consent as well as online safety. Georgia, who is pregnant with her first child, started her campaign when Stephen Bear shared explicit footage of her online without her consent and without her being aware she was filmed. Following the harrowing incident, Georgia bravely waived her right to anonymity in a bid to help others who might be going through something similar. Bear was jailed for 21 months in March 2023 after being found guilty of voyeurism by a majority verdict and guilty to two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress by a unanimous verdict by a jury. During the sentencing, Bear, 35, was given a restraining order and told not to contact Georgia for five years and was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register. Speaking in court, Georgia said that she felt 'violated' as she recalled the extent of the impact that the footage being published without her consent had on her life. 'I had to live in fear that this was going to come out and my family were going to know about it. It was just like the worst feeling you can ever possibly imagine. I felt violated, I felt embarrassed - I hated myself for a really long time,' she said. Bear, famed for his appearances on Celebrity Big Brother and Ex on the Beach, was released in January 2024 after serving just half his time in prison. In March 2024, he was ordered to pay £22,305, which would be given to HM Treasury and distributed to police charities, and was also ordered to pay £5,000 in compensation to Georgia for emotional and financial distress. Last year, Georgia released her memoir Taking Back My Power: Our Bodies. Our Consent in which she reflected on her nightmare. 'It's a hard read,' she admitted to the Mirror.
