New Windows 11 Insider Preview Build Adds New Voice Typing and Pen Features

Yahoo29-04-2025

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3941 (KB5055634) to the Beta Channel for users running Windows 11 24H2. This build brings updates, improvements, and fixes.
One of the updates is a new profanity filter setting for voice typing, which lets users decide whether spoken profanity is masked with asterisks or transcribed as spoken. This setting can be accessed by opening voice typing with Win + H, selecting the settings icon, and toggling the filter.
Another update is called Click to Do, which is available for Copilot+ PCs. If you use a pen with inking support, you can set up the shortcut button to open Click to Do. You can also add the app to the pen menu for easier access.
Windows Search has also been improved for Copilot+ PCs. If users are signed into OneDrive with a work or school account, searches in the Windows search box on the taskbar will now only return results for keywords found within the text of cloud files, not photos.
The Accessibility flyout in quick settings has also been updated. Assistive technologies are now grouped by vision, hearing, motor, and mobility. This change makes it easier for users to find the right tools.
These were the major changes, but this build addresses a number of other issues, such as blank app windows, problems with Windows Hello facial recognition, and touch keyboard bugs. It also resolves issues with Quick Assist for non-admin users and fixes problems where certain apps failed to open due to missing virtual machine components.

Powerful laptops (for business and leisure) typically cost a lot of money, and a top-tier configuration easily pushes the price above $2,000. This is why this Dell Inspiron 15 touchscreen laptop price is begging attention with its breathtaking… 75% discount on Amazon for $759, down from an original list price of $2,999 ($2,240 off and it's not even Black Friday!). Besides that incredible price, this all-in-one package also includes Windows 11 Pro for a more secure Windows experience, Microsoft Office Pro with a lifetime license and with Copilot AI capabilities, a 64GB SD card for extra storage and a free 4-in-1 docking station right out of the box. This is definitely one of our favorite laptop deals of 2025 so far. See at Amazon Powerful And Reliable Dell Laptop The basic engine for the Dell Inspiron 15 is an AMD Ryzen 7 7730U processor which has 8 cores and 16 threads and supports turbo speeds up to 4.5 GHz. This processor was designed for efficiency and performance to run multiple applications at the same time including demanding applications for things. The AMD Radeon graphics provide successful integrated graphics that are smooth and stout enough for moderate gaming and creative projects. The 32GB of DDR4 RAM is a standout feature (especially at this price point) and it allows users to run multiple applications simultaneously without a hint of slowdown. Within this class of laptops, most are capped at 16GB, and so to find a new machine with a 32GB configuration (such as this Inspiron model) is pretty rare and highly valuable. See at Amazon In terms of storage, this model exceeds expectations and what you can expect from the market: The 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD allows for speedy boot times and fast file access to handle large projects and media libraries with ease which is impressive by any standard. The inclusion of a 64GB SD card and the 4-in-1 docking station are a nice bonus and offer extra space for photos and a useful connectivity tool. The touchscreen is also responsive (Dell is really good at this) and the keyboard allows the user to type comfortably with limited effort for extended periods of time. The range of ports should also please most users as it has USB Type-A and Type-C, HDMI, and an SD Card Reader, all the essentials. The connectivity is great too, bringing Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth to guarantee speedy quality in connections. The 15.6-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen is a treat for both work and play, and you'll absolutely love it. With a 1920×1080 resolution, anti-glare coating and narrow bezels, you'll see exceptional vibrant colors and well-defined details and the added convenience in touch functionality is extremely useful for presentations. The OS is a huge premium here too, being a certified copy of Windows 11 Pro for advanced security, integrated Microsoft services support, great interactivity, and a great interface that is optimized for productivity. The preinstalled Office Pro Suite with a lifetime license for latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and countless other productivity and business tools is a great feature. As a bonus for the office worker/collaborator, the Microsoft Copilot AI is a great new integration tool. As an AI-assisted workflow tool, it is great for accelerating productivity by automating repetitive tasks and making intelligent suggestions for later on and keeping the user organized as a task planner to support productivity. Copilot is implemented to simplify the job and make it both less intimidating and less time-consuming. If you've been waiting for a sign to upgrade your tech, this might just be it. See at Amazon

Nvidia Stock's 1 Big Risk

CHONGQING, CHINA - MAY 25: In this photo illustration, the logo of NVIDIA is displayed on a ... More smartphone screen, with the company's signature green branding visible in the background, on May 25, 2025, in Chongqing, China. (Photo illustration by) Nvidia's (NASDAQ:NVDA) primary customers — Microsoft, Google, Meta, and Amazon — each spent tens of billions on their chips last year. Can these tech giants realistically double their spending on Nvidia chips again next year, and the year after, when their own revenues are only growing by about 15% annually? Absolutely not. The music of Nvidia's 80-100% growth has to stop. When this high-pitched growth finally slows, Nvidia's valuation will drop significantly. The point is, even slowing growth can be devastating. In fact, Nvidia has experienced strong declines time and again. Earlier this year, the stock saw a large correction amid the rise of DeepSeek. It was again hit over tariff concerns and issues with H20 chips. Looking back slightly further, the impact on Nvidia stock has been worse than the benchmark S&P 500 index during some recent downturns. For instance, Nvidia stock fell 66% during the 2022 inflation shock, versus a peak-to-trough decline of 25.4% for the S&P 500. Now, Nvidia's phenomenal growth is a recent phenomenon and might not last. The entire AI boom could fizzle, or perhaps large AI models could be deemed unnecessary. DeepSeek's demonstration that smaller models can perform just as well without Nvidia's latest chips raises serious questions. What are the odds that demand for Nvidia's chips will suddenly vanish? That's where the speculation truly begins. Nvidia's revenues have surged by more than 80% annually for the past three years, exceeding 100% growth last year. But can this growth decelerate to 60% or even 40%? It almost certainly has to — and soon! As mentioned, Nvidia's largest customers cannot sustain 2x year-over-year increases in spending on Nvidia chips when their own revenues are growing in the mid-teens. When this rapid expansion concludes, Nvidia's valuation will likely drop significantly. However, growth could then stabilize at a more sustainable pace of 20-30%, which, while not exceptionally high, is still respectable. That's why you build a portfolio — a resilient one — to balance risk and reward. We did exactly that with the Trefis High Quality (HQ) portfolio. Balancing risk-reward is precisely how HQ outperformed the S&P 500, the Nasdaq, and the Russell 2000, clocking over 91% returns since inception!

Ask Engadget: How do I set up an Xbox for my kid?

Q: My question is how best to set up an Xbox for my kid. I want to know how to control use time and whether I should use my email to set up. – Guillermo from Utah A: You're in luck! Console parental controls have come a long way from the days of hiding NES systems (or their controllers) from unruly kids. Microsoft, in particular, has made it very easy through its Xbox Family Settings app for iOS and Android, which supports Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One systems. Once you've added your kids to your Xbox family group, you'll be able to manage and see reports of their playtime, restrict access to specific content, require parental approval for purchases and sort incoming friend requests. In typical Microsoft fashion, though, setting up Xbox family accounts can be a bit confusing, so let's go over it step by step. Turn on your Xbox and sign in with your Microsoft account. Press the Xbox button on your controller, and head to Profile & system > Settings > account > Family settings > Manage family members. Choose Add to family > Add new. Unfortunately, Microsoft requires an email address for new accounts. You can either entire your child's existing email if they have one, or choose the Get a new email option to create an Outlook email address. (This may seem a bit absurd for younger children, so if you don't want to create an email for your 6 year old, you may be better off just physically controlling access to consoles like the old days.) Next, you'll have to verify the addition of a new family group member. You can do so by either choosing This Xbox on the next screen and entering your Microsoft account details, or selecting Their phone/PC to have an email sent to you. In either case, you'll have to consent to the new member. In its documentation, Microsoft says "a child account is defined as any Microsoft account that's affiliated with an adult Microsoft account when the age of the child or teen is less than the age of majority for their country or region." These accounts are broken into "Child" and "Teen" categories, which specify age ranges between eight and 12, and 13 to 17. Microsoft notes there can be differences depending on location, like in South Korea where teen accounts range from 13 to 18. Devindra Hardawar for Engadget As useful as the Xbox Family app and child accounts may seem, they can also lead to problems while playing Minecraft, according to comments on Reddit. Reddit user "Microdad_" said they weren't able to gift a game to their child's account, they had to deal with a buggy website to allow them to play Minecraft and after all of that trouble their child still can't play in their realm. User "Electronic_Ocelot825" encountered similar issues, replying, "You are spot on. I go through same [sic] crap and it drives me to the point where I am furious.' As tech reporters, the Engadget staff is always answering questions from readers, friends and family about electronics, software, gaming, big tech policies and more. So we decided to write down our answers. This question came from a coworker from Yahoo, Engadget's corporate parent.
