Jasprit Bumrah on England's Bazball style: It's interesting, but I don't understand it
Star India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has said that he doesn't understand England's Bazball style of cricket, saying that it creates wicket-taking opportunities for opponents. England have been playing an aggressive brand of cricket since 2022 under the regime of head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, termed 'Bazball' by the media.England have been scoring at 4.63 runs per over in Tests since June 2022, the highest run rate in the format in the time period. They're set to take on India in the upcoming series, scheduled to begin from June 20. Ahead of the series, Jasprit Bumrah has called England's batting style 'interesting' as he doesn't understand it. He also said that the bowling unit feels confident when the opponent is being ultra-aggressive as it creates opportunities.advertisement'Playing in England is always a different challenge, I always love bowling with the Dukes ball. The weather, the swinging conditions sometimes, and then when the ball becomes soft, there's always a challenge. So I always look forward to playing in England. Obviously they're playing an interesting style of cricket, which is an interesting one because I don't really understand it too much. But as a bowling unit, we always feel confident that when the batters are being ultra aggressive on a given day, anybody could run through and, get wickets,' Bumrah told Michael Clarke on Beyond23 Cricket Podcast.
Furthermore, Burmah opened up on the challenge of playing all three formats of the game and said that one has to be smart about using his body and be a bit selective.advertisement'It' s tough for any individual to keep playing everything for so long. I've been doing it for a while, but then eventually you have to understand where your body is going at, what is the important tournament. So you have to be a little selective and you have to be a little smart about how you use your body. As a cricketer, I would never want to leave anything and always keep on going. At this moment, yes, I'm OK, but I don't set goals. I look at it one day at a time. The journey is going good so far. The day I realized that the drive is gone or the effort is not there and my body is not holding up, that is a decision when you take your time. But right now I'm ok,' he added.Bumrah has been suffering from injuries since 2022 as he's missed several major tournaments for India, such as the T20 World Cup 2022, World Test Championship final 2023 and the Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is also managing his workload accordingly and don't usually pick him in bilateral ODI and T20I series against weaker teams.

BCCI gets Shreyas Iyer 'will captain India in multiple formats' message after taking PBKS to IPL 2025 final: 'He has to'
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer is the first skipper in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to lead three different teams to the finals of the premier T20 competition. The right-handed batter was at his absolute best in Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians as he hit an unbeaten 87-run knock of 41 balls to propel PBKS to the final of the tournament, where they will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As soon as the match-winning runs came from Shreyas' bat, former India batter Robin Uthappa took to X (formerly Twitter) to predict that the 30-year-old will lead India in multiple formats in the coming years. It needs to be mentioned that Shreyas Iyer is currently not a part of India's Test and T20I side. The batter was not picked for the upcoming series against England, and he did not feature in the team in India's last T20I series as well. However, Shreyas Iyer was India's MVP in the Champions Trophy, where Rohit Sharma and co won the tournament without losing a single match. Shreyas Iyer has shown great leadership in the ongoing IPL 2025, and his astute reading of the game is one of the major reasons why PBKS qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Also Read: Shreyas Iyer gives Shashank Singh mouthful following latter's run-out Shreyas, who was picked up by PBKS for INR 26.75 crore, repaid the faith by performing both as a leader and batter in the IPL 2025 season. His performance has now been taken notice by Uthappa, who earmarked the Punjab Kings captain for greatness. 'I've said this time and again and I'll say it AGAIN!! Iyer will captain India in multiple formats!! He has to!! He's that good,' Uthappa wrote on X. Shreyas Iyer has let his bat do all the talking in the IPL 2025 season as he has amassed 603 runs in 16 matches for PBKS at an average of 54.82 and a strike rate of 175.80. His partnership with head coach Ricky Ponting has paid off well, as the duo has transformed PBKS into a world-beating side. It must be mentioned that Ponting and Shreyas worked together at Delhi Capitals, and the duo were the men behind DC's reaching the final in IPL 2020. Shreyas Iyer is the first captain in IPL history to lead three different teams to finals. He first made the final with Delhi Capitals in 2020 and he then led KKR to their third title in 2024. However, Shreyas was not retained by KKR, and the batter has spoken enough about not getting enough credit for the IPL win last season. Many believe that the then-mentor Gautam Gambhir walked away with all the applause. Shreyas has now led Punjab Kings to their second IPL win, and the franchise has a shot at winning their maiden title when they take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the summit clash on Tuesday.
