Kaithi key to writing culture history of Bihar: Expert
The workshop was organised under the joint aegis of Sitaram Upadhyay Museum Buxar and Intach, Patna chapter. Das said to include Bhojpuri in the eighth schedule of the Constitution, a maximum number of manuscripts of Bhojpuri, written in Kaithi script, will have to be collected.
Giving the example of Kaithi manuscripts of Maluk Das in Kaithi kept in the museum and that of Dariya Das kept in the private collection of Lakshmi Kant Mukul Ji, he said Sher Shah was the first to use Kaithi script in his seal.
While delivering the welcome address, assistant museum director Shiv Kumar Mishra said the Baijnath temple inscription in Kaimur district and those in several villages remove the misconception that there is a lack of ancient inscriptions in Kaithi.
He said most of the land disputes and lawsuits in Bihar within the family can be resolved only through Kaithi. He said along with learning Kaithi, knowledge of document writing methods and Urdu and Persian words are necessary.
Pritam Kumar, who is doing research on Kaithi script at Banaras Hindu University, and Waqar Ahmed of Chhapra are the resource persons of this workshop. As many as 50 people are learning Kaithi in the workshop.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by senior litterateur Laxmi Kant Mukul, district art and culture officer Pratima Kumari, and other guests.
