Man seriously injured in Dublin city centre assault
The assault took place in the Rosie Hackett Bridge, Eden Quay area of Dublin 1 at around 4.30pm.

The man was brought to Mater Misericordiae Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The scene is currently preserved for technical examination, gardaí said in a statement.
A man in his 30s was arrested and is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in the Dublin city area.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward, in particular anyone who may have been in the area of Rosie Hackett Bridge, Eden Quay, between 4pm and 5pm have been asked to come forward.
A statement said that gardaí are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have information about any of the incidents or any mobile phone footage recorded at the relevant locations.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area at the time, have been asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.

Images had emerged earlier this week of her extensive injuries with both sides of her face were extremely bruised following the assault. Her bottom lip was also cut open slightly, with dark bruises seen around her neck and upper torso. The update from Holly comes after a fourth person was arrested in connection with the fight. Dominique Kittle, 37, was taken into police custody on Friday night and was charged with felonious assault and aggravated riot, his bond was set at $150,000. He appeared in court on Saturday where his lawyer told the judge that suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, according to WLWT. Jermaine Matthews, 39, Montianez Merriweather, 34, and Dekyra Vernon, 24, were taken into custody earlier this week after the ordeal, which JD Vance waded in on. A woman who mugged her elderly boyfriend in broad daylight before threatening to 'knock the jaw off' a Good Samaritan has been jailed. Katie Bland, 31, from Greetland, Halifax, was in a relationship with a man in his 70s who she would often abuse and demand money from. On January 6, the gentleman left after an argument but was met with a barrage of abusive calls from Bland asking for money, Bradford Crown Court was told. At around 4pm, she found out he was at a bus station in Halifax and travelled to him where she continued her abusive onslaught, calling him a racist word and a 'dirty dog'. Moments later, she grabbed him by the collar of his coat and threw him around as she demanded cash. The pensioner offered Bland £20 but instead she wanted his bank card and became aggressive when he refused to hand it over. He offered to go to the cash point with her to withdraw money, however, she became violent on the way and started kicking him in the leg and screaming at him. A woman who witness the attack tried to intervene but Bland then turned on her, grabbing her by her scarf and telling her she would 'knock her jaw off' if she 'didn't shut the f**k up'. She then carried on assaulting the elderly man and managed to withdraw £40 from his bank account before police officers turned up. Bland was arrested and, despite responding with 'no comment' to all questions, later pleaded guilty to robbery, assault by beating, fraud and blackmail. In his witness statement, the elderly gentleman said he has 'never been so depressed or worried' throughout his entire existence as he was during his relationship with Bland. His statement, read out by prosecutor Nathan Davis, said: 'I wake up and don't know how she is going to be. I get abused daily. 'I lost all of my friends for my relationship. My friends have told me what she is like and asks for money to buy drugs. 'Her behaviour is the last weeks has become worse. It has affected me to the point I want to give up with life. 'I never want to come home due to the mess she has left in my house.' The court heard that Bland, who participated via video connection from HMP New Hall, possessed prior criminal convictions and was serving under a suspended sentence for a separate robbery when she carried out the offences for which she faced sentencing on Friday. In mitigation, Shila Whitehead explained: 'What she tells me is she has been in custody since January. She said she is aware her behaviour towards him was unacceptable and she is willing to accept help. She accepts at the time of committing these offences she was using drugs and was heavily dependant on them. 'During the time she has been in prison she tells me that she has undertaken a number of courses which has helped her. She is hoping to get help and change her ways and not have the lifestyle she has had for three years. 'When she has appeared before the court she wants to make amends and lead a law-abiding life. He has been in touch with her while she has been in prison and has been in communication with her family. 'He says he wants to support her if she wants to put in the time to lead a law-abiding life. Her family are supporting her throughout this. They have accommodation for her. They are supporting her and will be there for her when she is released from prison.' Bland was sentenced to two years and three months in jail.

Border security loophole allowed Tommy Robinson to leave UK after ‘assault'
Tommy Robinson was able to leave the UK despite being 'wanted' because of a border security loophole, it has emerged. The far-Right activist, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, allegedly assaulted a man at St Pancras station in London last week. Viral footage circulating online depicted the apparent victim lying unresponsive on the floor. Following the incident, the British Transport Police (BTP) said they were making 'arrest inquiries' before later saying a suspect wanted for questioning in connection with the alleged attack had boarded a flight and was no longer in the UK. Robinson, 42, caught a flight from London Stansted to the Spanish island of Tenerife despite being flagged as 'wanted' by police almost five hours earlier. The Sunday Times reported that the far-Right activist was waived through the Ryanair departure gate because the police alert was raised only after he had booked the flight and checked in online – the point at which passenger details are normally run past security watch lists. UK airline officials are not obliged to check whether a traveller is wanted for suspected criminality immediately before embarkation. Footage that went viral in the aftermath of the alleged attack showed Robinson looking agitated, while a man appeared to lie unconscious on the ground at St Pancras, saying: 'He f-----g come at me. He come at me bruv.' As two members of station staff attended to the man, Robinson approached an apparent witness and added: 'He come at me bruv, you saw that.' Last Monday, Robinson had been in the area to hand out leaflets to promote a 'free speech' rally he is planning to host in central London on Sept 13. The alleged assault occurred near a Thameslink platform which runs to Luton, where Robinson has a family home. It has been reported that Robinson's supporters claim that he had planned a trip abroad well in advance of the alleged assault at St Pancras. The Sunday Times said he was due to travel to Tenerife last Wednesday morning, but he moved the flight forward by 24 hours. A BTP spokesman said: 'Following a report of an assault at St Pancras station on July 28, officers have confirmed that the suspect, a 42-year-old man from Bedfordshire, boarded a flight out of the country in the early hours of the morning. 'Detectives are continuing to work closely to progress the investigation and bring him into custody for questioning.'
