Euronext beats estimates with double digit growth
Revenues hit a fresh record of 465.8 million euros ($531.7 million) with the group's net profit clocking in at 183.8 million euros ($210.3 million), an almost 30% increase year-on-year and above the figure of 172.7 million euros analysts had expected in a company provided consensus.
Euronext CEO Stéphane Boujnah said he did not see market volatility subsiding any time soon.
"It sounds like we have to accept that the volatility of decision-making is the new normal," he said in an interview.
He did not expect the EU-Trump tariff deal to subdue volatility, pointing to asymmetries in sectors profiting from the scheme, the services deficit of the EU with the USA, and the fact member states still have to ratify the deal.
Whilst market volatility aided trading volumes, it hampered IPO listings which fell from 14 to 6 year-on-year in another setback for the pan-European stock exchange which continues to struggle to attract new European listings.
"When markets are too volatile, boats don't leave the harbour," Boujnah said.
Euronext, which manages exchanges in Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Lisbon, Milan, Oslo, and Paris, has been making overtures to other European operators in an effort to consolidate what former ECB frontman Mario Draghi, amongst others, has branded an overly fragmented market.
This morning, the company announced it had launched a voluntary share offerfor the Athenian stock exchange worth 412.8 million euros.
Boujnah reiterated his long term commitment towards a single integrated market.
"Together, we can build market infrastructure much stronger than what we could ever do at the local level. Liquidity and scale is the name of the game."

The Red Devils will however likely face stiff competition for his signature, after Chelsea, Arsenal and a number of clubs in the Saudi Pro League also expressed an interest. Any deal for Fermin is expected to take place in 'the coming weeks' with the new seasons of both LaLiga and the Premier League now just around a corner. United's priority ahead of their first league game against Arsenal on August 16 is thought to be the acquisition of a striker. After missing out on prime targets Liam Delap and later Viktor Gyokeres, the Red Devils turned their attention to Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko. They this week however focused their efforts on RB Leipzig's Sesko, after reportedly being priced out of a move for their other option, the Aston Villa forward. United however are embroiled in a two-horse race for the Slovenian's signature with Newcastle, who are believed to have submitted their first bid for the striker on Friday. Sesko is currently weighing up his options, according to reports, and is yet to decide whether he favours a move to Old Trafford or further north to St James' Park. Ruben Amorim's maiden summer at the helm has so far seen United acquire Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo in two deals totalling almost £140million. It's hoped the Premier League-proven wingers can strengthen a United frontline which has been devoid of goals, and confidence, in recent seasons. Rasmus Hojlund, who has actually somewhat impressed this pre-season, could leave the club this summer if Sesko comes through the door. It's thought RB Leipzig are showing a strong interest in securing his services, with the idea of Hojlund being used in a swap deal a genuine possibility. Elsewhere, Amorim is said to be keen to improve his squad in both midfield and in-goal. While no targets have been identified in the centre of the park, club officials reportedly enquired about the possibility of bringing Emi Martinez to Old Trafford earlier in the window. Aston Villa however turned down the proposal.

European heavyweights make Darwin Nunez their 'number one target' as Liverpool seek to sell the striker and finance a deal for Alexander Isak
Italian giants AC Milan have reportedly entered the race for Liverpool wantaway Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan looks set to leave Merseyside this summer after making just eight starts as Arne Slot 's side breezed to the Premier League title. He had been the subject of interest from Antonio Conte 's Napoli earlier in the window, with the Italian club thought to have been negotiating a cut-price deal with Liverpool for the striker. But talks eventually collapsed after club officials failed to agree a price, with Napoli instead signing Udinese frontman Lorenzo Lucca. Now, AC Milan - who recently appointed Massimiliano Allegri as their manager - have identified Nunez as a target up front. The Rossoneri have made contract with the Uruguayan's representatives over a deal, according to Sky Sports in Italy. Nunez, who is also receiving interest from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, is thought to be Milan's top target ahead of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund and Arnaud Kalimuendo, who plays in France for Rennes. The sale of Nunez just two years after he signed in a £85m deal from Benfica will no-doubt help Liverpool fund their pursuit of Newcastle United star Alexander Isak. Having already bolstered their ranks with the additions of Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike, the Reds submitted their first bid of £110m for the striker on Friday. Newcastle were thought to be disappointed by the offer and quickly rejected, with Liverpool chiefs expected to submit a second offer soon. The Mapgies are however reluctant to sell without a replacement lined-up as they continue their pursuit of RB Leipzig attacker Benjamin Sesko. If they're to secure Isak's services next season, Liverpool have been told it will take a bid of closer to £150m. Ford and Hyundai have succeeded in the compact truck segment — could Toyota be next? Small trucks have had a bumpy history in the States. However, lately, some automakers have found success with smaller-than-usual offerings, including Ford's Maverick and Hyundai's Santa Cruz, both of which are small pickups. The small truck segment could grow even more with the Bezos-backed Slate pickup, albeit its existence has become a lot more uncertain in the last few weeks as EV incentives go the way of Amelia Earhart. Then, we get to Toyota. Recent reports coming from Automotive News seem to indicate Toyota may still bring a tyke-sized truck to the US market, and it might not be the truck you expect it to be. 2025 Toyota Tacoma SR 2025 Ford Maverick Lariat A smaller Toyota truck would not share much with existing Toyota truck offerings While the current Toyota truck lineup in the US features solely body-on-frame construction, the prospective addition to the family would likely be based on the RAV4. Automotive News reports that Toyota Motor North America is still 'studying' a compact unibody-based pickup for the US market. They also confirm that the Corolla-based and electrified truck that Toyota is selling in Brazil is decidedly 'too small' for the US. Disappearing incentives/rebates and tariffs are also likely contributing factors as to why we won't get that smaller pickup. Toyota EPU Concept Toyota EPU Concept A truck built on the TNGA-K platform — which underpins the RAV4, Camry, Sienna, and others — means staying more than competitive with other small truck offerings. The Grand Highlander, a TNGA-K vehicle, can tow up to 5,000 pounds, which is 1,000 more than what the Maverick can muster. Considering even the three-row Grand Highlander is only two inches longer than the Maverick, the platform's size would be right on the money, too. Although at one point speculation pointed towards electrification, that plan — if there ever was one — is almost certainly scrapped in the face of loosening EPA regulations and dashed EV rebates. In the US, anyway, as Europe is a different story. Automotive News thinks 2028 would be the earliest we'd see the hypothetical truck.
