Notre Dame gets more love for its culture, this time from ESPN personality Marty Smith
The Fighting Irish continue to be preseason darlings The plaudits continue to roll in for Notre Dame. With the Fighting Irish looking to not only return to the national championship game but win it, the coaching staff has been garnering praise for its recruiting class and for putting together a team that looks, on paper, ready to be as strong or better than last year. In other words, it appears 2024 wasn't a "lightning in a bottle" one-off. Add ESPN's Marty Smith to the list, as he praised Notre Dame -- and, specifically, head coach Marcus Freeman for building the team's culture. A good culture is obviously something that can help a team win, and we saw that with the Irish last year. But given the final result, perhaps Notre Dame can use that culture to take the final step and bring home a title. Sparks' Kelsey Plum hits game-winner, curses during live postgame interview
Last night's WNBA contest between the Dallas Wings and Los Angeles Sparks was one of the best this season, as Sparks guard Kelsey Plum hit a bank shot as time expired, giving her team an 81-80 victory. Another notable performance was that of Wings rookie guard Paige Buckers, who set a WNBA single-game rookie scoring record with 44 points on 17-21 shooting and became the first player in league history to shoot at least 80% from the field while scoring 40 or more points. But it was Plum who dropped the mic in her postgame interview after scoring 20 points in the victory. "We got to play some (expletive) defense," Plum said before walking off to the locker room. 83825335007 Dallas shot 48% for the game and made 11 of its 19 3-point attempts. Plum's interview was broadcast live on television, allowing fans at Arena to hear her thoughts following a tough victory. Plum was asked about the playoff push the team is embarking on, and with nine games remaining, Los Angeles (17-18) is a half-game back of the eighth and final postseason spot.
