Nick Saban Planning College Football Coaching Comeback?
Since then, we've seen Alabama rename their football field after him and later this year, Saban will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. There's no denying that the 73-year-old has led a legendary career, but he may not be done.
According to former Alabama QB Greg McElroy's sources, Saban could one day return to the coaching landscape.
'A very much in the know person that I have a lot of respect for and have spent a lot of time around, and just really, really admire — they seem to think Nick Saban is not done coaching. He's pretty adamant that he thinks Nick Saban will be coaching again.'
Greg McElroy on Nick Saban
Even though he has the field named after him, odds are Saban won't be returning to Alabama, where his replacement Kalen DeBoer is heading into season two of an eight-year, $87 million contract.
Then again, things change quickly in the college football landscape, so Saban could be back, just as quickly as he disappeared. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean he's bound to return to Alabama for a second stint as the head coach.

Colin Cowherd pushes Nick Saban – Archie Manning conspiracy theory involving Cleveland Browns
The post Colin Cowherd pushes Nick Saban – Archie Manning conspiracy theory involving Cleveland Browns appeared first on ClutchPoints. Colin Cowherd proposed a Nick Saban-Archie Manning conspiracy theory involving the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland is still in one of its best eras of this century, with head coach Kevin Stefanski at the helm of the franchise. The Browns have made the playoffs in two of the past five seasons, including winning their first postseason game since 1994. Last year's team, however, did struggle, going 3-14 overall, leading some to question Kevin Stefanski's job security. And it's not going to be easy to recover from 2024 in a loaded AFC North division. The quarterback situation for the Browns has dominated the headlines with Deshaun Watson likely out for the season with a torn Achilles. To be honest, the three-time Pro Bowler was largely dismal for Cleveland when he was healthy, but regardless, there is a vacancy at QB1 for this current roster. Four quarterbacks are battling over this starting position: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. While there is a chance the long-term solution under center for this franchise is one of those players, Colin Cowherd floated a theory on The Herd that the Browns might have a master plan, should things fall apart in 2025. 'This is the worst kept secret in the South. Haslam, Jimmy, owner of the Browns, huge SEC Tennessee booster, leans heavily on the Manning family. Very close to the Manning family. Yes, that's not make believe. Arch Manning is part of the Manning family. And this is where Nick Saban comes in. Saban is incredibly close to not only Jimmy Haslam, but Saban's close to the Manning family as well. And so Saban, if he could land, I'm told, a top quarterback like Harbaugh going to the Chargers for Herbert, he would take a phone call for the NFL. And there are two teams guaranteed to be awful this year in the NFL. Cleveland and the Saints. Nick Saban has coached in Cleveland with the Browns under the Belichick staff and he coached at LSU. This is not a conspiracy theory.' Arch Manning has yet to have a full season as a starter in college, and it's unclear whether he would declare for the draft after 2025 anyway. Still, even with a lot of the unknown, the former 5-star QB is projected to be a potential top prospect in the 2026 draft. These two moves would certainly shock the world, but wouldn't exactly be beyond the pale for owner Jimmy Haslam. Cowherd's comments, overall, definitely add some extra pressure on Stefanski, who seems to be in dire need of a bounce-back season if he wants to stay with the Browns. Even though Nick Saban's return to the coaching ranks, especially in the NFL, still looks pretty far-fetched. World's Tallest Teen, 7-foot-9 Center Olivier Rioux, Tries Football at Florida
The world's tallest teenager is trying his hand — his reach, really — at football. Florida basketball player Olivier Rioux, a 7-foot-9 center who played for the Under-19 Canadian national team this summer, recently worked out for the Gators' football team. Rioux donned an orange helmet and took snaps on special teams, with Florida assistant coaches hoping his massive wingspan might be a difference maker when it comes to blocking field goals and extra points. "I like the idea," Gators basketball coach Todd Golden said during a booster event Thursday evening. "I give them credit for trying it." There was one issue: The 305-pound Rioux has an 11-inch vertical, so even with his extra-long reach, he was unable to block any kicks during the workout. "They were a little disappointed," Golden said. No worries. Rioux can simply stick to his full-time gig with the hoops team. After redshirting as a true freshman last season, he's expected to get on the court in a limited capacity this fall. He's unlikely to play much considering the defending national champions return their entire frontcourt, but he should at least get on the court in garbage time. Golden has already considered using him to guard inbound passes, something Rioux did to perfection just before halftime against the United States in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland earlier this month. Rioux forced an errant pass that led to a turnover and a 3-pointer just before halftime. Rioux's unusual height landed him in the Guinness World Records a few years ago, and he has become a walking viral video at Florida. While coaches and teammates climbed a ladder to cut pieces of the nets after the Gators won the SEC Tournament, Rioux was able to do it while standing flat-footed. Reporting by The Associated Press. It's Scheffler versus McIlroy at U.S. Junior Amateur – well, sort of
It's Scottie Scheffler versus Rory McIlroy at the 77th U.S. Junior Amateur. Well, sort of. The top two ranked players in junior golf, No. 1 Miles Russell and No. 2 Luke Colton, will face off in one of four quarterfinal matches on Friday morning at Trinity Forest in Dallas. Russell, a 16-year-old from Jacksonville Beach, Florida, survived a scare in Wednesday's first round of match play, rallying from 2 down through three holes to win in extra holes. He made easier work of his opponents on Thursday, beating Lucas Latimer, 3 and 2, before taking down Miguel Garcia, 4 and 2. Colton, 17 years old and from nearby Frisco, rolled Texas A&M signee Shiv Parmar, 6 and 5, in the Round of 32 and then eliminated 15-year-old Chase Bauer, 3 and 1, to earn himself a second date with Russell in about a month. Colton and Russell last played a match against each other in the Round of 16 at the North and South Amateur in June. Colton won that match in 21 holes. Need further proof that this encore will be closely contested, look at these numbers: • In 48 common rounds since the start of 2024, Colton and Russell are 21-21-6 against each other • During that same span, they both boast 70.1 scoring averages It's possible that Friday's match also helps decide the 10-man U.S. Walker Cup team that will compete at Cypress Point this September. Russell, at No. 18 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, had the greater shot starting this week, but the 26th-ranked Colton's stock would shoot up should he beat Russell and ultimately win this championship. That match begins at 8:30 a.m. ET. In Friday's other matchups: Hamilton Coleman of Augusta, Georgia, who won last year's AJGA Junior Players in a playoff over Blades Brown, will meet Sohan Patel, who joins fellow lefties Russell and Colton in the top half of the bracket. Just two lefties have ever won the U.S. Junior – Brian Harman (2003) and Cory Whitsett (2007). Coleman won each of his last three holes against the red-hot Tyler Watts (also a lefty) in a 2-and-1 win in the Round of 16. England's Ben Bolton will play China's Qiyou Wu. No Englishman has ever won, while Wu would be the second champion from China, following Wenyi Ding in 2022. Wu needed 21 holes to eliminate Ronin Banerjee, who on Wednesday won his first-round match, 9 and 8, tying the championship record. Nicholas Gross, a rising sophomore at Alabama, draws Vietnam's Nguyen Anh Minh, who is currently ranked No. 52 in WAGR.
