Meghan Markle sips cocktails and beams for selfies in unseen photos shared by her Montecito BFFs for her 44th birthday - as Duchess herself shares rare personal messages on social media
The Duchess of Sussex yesterday celebrated her 44th birthday - and several of her closest friends from her 'Montecito moms' circle and her Suits days were quick to share their good wishes.
Close pals including Meghan's Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, Kelly McKee Zajfen, Tracy Robbins, Jamie Kern Lima all took to Instagram on Monday to share gushing compliments, calling Meghan 'pure magic' and describing her as 'like sunshine in a bottle'.
And in a rare move from the Duchess, she commented on their posts in a mutual display of affection.
Meghan's long-time pal Abigail Spencer was the first to share a tribute to the Duchess, calling her 'Champagne in human form' and a 'sister in this life and beyond'.
As Abigail was also celebrating her birthday yesterday, Meghan fired back: 'Thank you, sweet Abs! Right back at you, and happy birthday to YOU! 44/4' - her comment referring to them both turning 44 on the fourth day of the month.
Kelly McKee Zajfen, a former model and co-founder of Alliance of Moms, has been friends with the Duchess for many years after first meeting with the Duchess's ex-husband, Trevor Engelson.
She shared an unseen black-and-white photograph of herself and the mother-of-two laughing together, while standing beside a fountain.
In the photo, Meghan was wearing a stylish chain print blend dress from Veronica Beard, retailing at $635.
Kelly wrote: 'Happy Birthday to you sweet M!!
'You're pure magic!! A force of fun, light, and so much love. Thank you for being the kind of friend who makes everything better (and way more fun). Here's to the best trip around the ☀️ yet!
'(This captures us perfectly! ✨✨ ) Love you so very much!'
Meghan replied: 'Thank you!', adding a heart, cake and champagne emoji.
The Duchess also featured in several new photos shared by her close pal Tracy Robbins, who lives in Montecito and is married to Paramount boss Brian - with the couple occasionally going on double dates with Meghan and Prince Harry.
Tracy showed a very light-hearted and laidback side to Meghan, as they were seen giggling while enjoying cocktails together.
In one candid snap, Meghan couldn't contain her laughter as some of the foam from her cocktail landed on her nose.

'Happy birthday my dear @meghan Oh how I can laugh and dance with you like no other. You are sunshine in a bottle!' Tracy gushed.
'Thank you for always making time to be such a loving and connected friend no matter what's going on in your life. You dance through this life with so much grace, light and love!'
Referring to her husband Prince Harry, and children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, she added: 'I hope your wee posse of 3 are smothering you with hugs and kisses today my dear! Happiest of birthdays M!'
Keeping it simple, Meghan commented a selection of pink and red heart emojis.
Tracy also shared a photo of Meghan and her husband Brian backstage at Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour - which they attended together in May at the SoFi stadium in California.
She added: 'Happy birthday M! Brian and I adore you!'
Jamie Kern Lima, who hosted Meghan on her podcast earlier this year, shared on her story: 'Happy Birthday @meghan thank you for being love, light and such a great friend to everyone who has the gift of truly knowing you!!!'
Seconds later, she shared another image, holding a rainbow fruit platter they had made behind the scenes of the podcast: 'Happy Birthday @meghan Wonder had so much fun making this for you! Can't wait to see what we learn on Season 2 of your show! Thank you for being love, light and such a generous friend to everyone you meet!'
Meghan's make-up artist pal Daniel Martin, who helped get the Duchess ready for her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, meanwhile shared a sweet snap of Meghan and her beagle Mia in the garden of her Montecito mansion, simply writing 'HBD sis!'
Rounding off the tributes was actress Kerry Washington, who has been friends with Meghan since 2013, and said: 'To this beautiful (inside and out) @meghan Love you so much!'
Meghan's As Ever brand has posted a gushing birthday tribute as the entrepreneur turns 44 years old.
The Duchess' own lifestyle company took to Instagram with a black and white snapshot of the mom-of-two wearing a sundress and hat as she beamed into the distance.
The caption enthused about Meghan and her role leading the company.
'Celebrating the woman behind it all,' it read.
'She pours her heart, vision and magic touch into every detail, and today, we raise a glass to her! Happy birthday to our founder.'
In her gushing birthday message, Abigail wished Meghan a happy birthday, and credited the Duchess with 'saving' her life
Meghan replied with a rare social media comment, writing: 'Thank you, sweet Abs! Right back at you, and happy birthday to YOU! 44/4'
It was then re-shared on As Ever's Instagram Story alongside two champagne flutes clinking together in celebration.
On Sunday, the eve of her 44th birthday, Meghan took to social media to share a teaser for her lifestyle brand As ever.
The Duchess of Sussex shared a video of herself carrying a wicker basket filled with flowers and bottles of As Ever Napa Valley rosé laid in white linen.
While Meghan's face did not feature in the video, it showed her wearing a short white dress as she frolicked in the grass, thought to be at her Montecito estate near Santa Barbara, California.
She showed off her stack of rings on her left ring finger, including her engagement ring, wedding ring and an infinity ring, estimated to be worth around £210,000.
She also wore a gold Cartier Love Bracelet, which costs up to £7,050, and a gold Cartier Tank Watch that once belonged to Princess Diana, both of which she regularly wears.
The clip later showed a view of Meghan's swinging feet as she sits atop a stone garden wall, clad in £720 tan-coloured Hermes Santorini sandals.
The words 'Coming soon...' appeared over the video to tease the launch of her new 2024 Napa Valley Rosé.
Shared on the official As Ever Instagram page last night, the caption read: 'Goodness in a glass. Right around the corner...Cheers to August!'
Meghan's latest post comes after she announced another product coming to her As Ever line - although some of her customers were baffled as to what was actually new.
The Duchess launched her lifestyle brand As ever earlier this year, releasing the first products in April, which included a range of teas, a raspberry spread, and a limited-edition wildflower honey with honeycomb, amongst other things.
She followed it up with an apricot spread and another honey, and in July, she expanded into the world of alcohol when she dropped her own wine - the 2023 Napa Valley Rosé.
Each release has been met with fierce excitement from her fans, and every product has sold out pretty quickly.
Now, the Duchess of Sussex 's brand has announced its newest product... but it might not garner the same amount of enthusiasm since it's not very different from her last item.
The company revealed on Wednesday that following the buzz surrounding the 2023 Napa Valley Rosé, it will be launching another wine, with a slight tweak - calling it the 2024 Napa Valley Rosé.
And it vowed that it will pretty much taste the same as As Ever's first wine.
'It marries the same harmony of notes from our first blend and creates an elegant medley of delicate yet memorable flavor,' reads a press release.
'You'll want to clink glasses with friends as the sun sets, toasting to a summer of joy.
'Barefoot or in sandals, dressed up or dressed down, this rosé may become your favorite accessory for alfresco lunches and dinners at dusk.'
Meghan described her new bottles as 'goodness in a glass'
Meghan Markle tried to stir up excitement over her new product announcement but it might be hard for customers to spot what's new with this one
In the release, As Ever listed some of the positive feedback customers had given the company over its first rosé, which included comments like, '10 out of 10,' 'perfect,' and 'elevated flavor'.
'This affirmed all of the love, time and effort our team, and our founder, poured into curating this blend to evoke the sun drenched spirit of Napa Valley, and the breathtaking tenor of the California Coast,' As Ever added.
'Thank you for filling our cup. Now it's time for us to fill your glass! We are pleased to share that our 2024 Napa Valley Rosé will be available for purchase next week.'
The brand also posted to Instagram with a series of images showing the new wine resting in beach sand.
It was uploaded alongside a caption that read: 'Oh, how we love seeing the world through rose colored glasses. Rosé colored glasses? Perhaps even better.
'Our new vintage of As Ever's beloved rosé is available next week.
The 2023 Napa Valley Rosé is described on the bottle as a 'delicately balanced rosé with soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish'
The Daily Mail FEMAIL team tried the rosé and while the wine was smooth, we couldn't easily detect the notes of stone fruit. In fact, it tasted quite bland, and almost water-y
'Stay tuned for more details and timing.'
As Ever's first wine went on sale on July 1 and sold out within the hour.
Customers were able to purchase three bottles for $90, six bottles for $159, and 12 bottles for $300.
Last month, Daily Mail exclusively revealed that the alcoholic beverage is made by Fairwinds Estate, a California winery that creates bespoke wines for celebrities.
The 2023 Napa Valley Rosé is described on the bottle as a 'delicately balanced rosé with soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish.'
It has a 14.5 percent alcohol by volume for the 750ML bottle.
The Daily Mail FEMAIL team tried the rosé and while the wine was smooth, we couldn't easily detect the notes of stone fruit. In fact, it tasted quite bland, and almost water-y.
In addition, the rosé had some acidic notes, leaving a somewhat uncomfortable sensation at the back of our throats after swallowing.
In the end, the verdict was the wine lacked flavor and tasted affordable and ordinary. It wasn't terrible - but it certainly wasn't great.
The FEMAIL team also reviewed her initial set of products , and found that Meghan's raspberry spread was too thin, too sweet, and very runny
Her hibiscus tea was extremely bitter with heavy notes of floral, with one taste tester comparing it to 'drinking lip balm'
We felt the rosé just didn't taste like you bought it at a fancy vineyard, where it's supposed to be made, but rather, like a wine you would be served at a work happy hour.
The FEMAIL team also reviewed her initial set of products, and found that Meghan's raspberry spread was too thin, too sweet, and very runny.
Her hibiscus tea was extremely bitter with heavy notes of floral, with one taste tester comparing it to 'drinking lip balm.'
'It tasted like dirty dishwater,' another FEMAIL writer shared.
Some of us couldn't even bear to swallow it, as one person even spat it back into the cup.

Woke writer slammed for branding Sydney Sweeney 'a butterface who looks great in jeans'
A prominent progressive political scientist has been met with outrage after calling actress Sydney Sweeney ugly. 'She's a butterface who looks great in jeans,' Rachel Bitecofer, 48, wrote Monday in a post responding to Sweeney's controversial American Eagle ad. 'You sound jealous,' a user replied. 'Yer [sic] jealous. Clearly,' another said, in a torrent of more than 2,000 posts that almost all panned Bitecofer, a former lecturer at Christopher Newport University. Most questioned how she came to such a conclusion. The term 'butterface' is an insulting British slang word derived for a person who has a good body but unattractive face. Sweeney, at 27, has surfaced as a sex symbol as of late. At the same time, an American Eagle tagline in her ad - 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' - didn't sit well with left-leaning audiences. Some left-wingers have claimed that the ad's deliberate word play on the word 'genes' is racist. 'She's a butterface who looks great in jeans,' Rachel Bitecofer, 48, wrote Monday in a post responding to Sweeney's controversial American Eagle ad Bitecofer went on to say that 'no-one on the left' is concerned with the Sweeney advert and that it was 'all rage porn' on right-wing social media. She did so despite a slew of news stories and opinion pieces on the advert published in The New York Times, CNN, NPR and NBC News. Sweeney's new fans include President Trump, after it was revealed the Euphoria actress is a registered Republican in her home state of Florida. 'She's a registered Republican?' the president said with interest on the tarmac of the Lehigh Valley International Airport outside of Allentown, Pennsylvania, on his way back to Washington after spending the weekend in Bedminster, New Jersey. 'You'd be surprised at how many people are Republican,' he added, after expressing surprise himself over the development. That's one I wouldn't have known, but I'm glad you told me that,' he said, before hailing her ad as 'fantastic.' The backlash to the political commentator's 'butterface' declaration was swift and merciless Bitecofer - the author of Politicize Everything: A Blueprint for a Party That Fights - appeared to view the backlash as a distractions that's being propped up by Republicans American Eagle has shrugged off controversy over the Sweeney advert and insists its company is an inclusive one. In a statement posted on American Eagle's Instagram account on Friday, the retailer said the ad campaign 'is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. 'We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone,' it concluded. Sweeney, meanwhile, is a member of the Republican Party of Florida, according to public voter records viewed by the Daily Mail. The campaign in question launched last week. It remains unclear if the company knew how much controversy the ad was going to generate.

Ten of the silliest comedies to watch now
W ith The Naked Gun and Freakier Friday in cinemas, Happy Gilmore 2 leading the Netflix rankings and releases slated for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, Spaceballs 2, a new Meet the Parents instalment, Focker In-Law, and a Pink Panther reboot starring Eddie Murphy, it seems Hollywood has learnt to laugh again. Or at least it has learnt that remaking old comedy hits may be a way to bring in the big bucks from a cinema-going public tired of superheroes. And besides, we could all do with a laugh as the world burns. As Liam Neeson said of The Naked Gun, 'The film is a giggle and we need that.' Here are ten more simple pleasures to enjoy, picked by our experts. • Naked Gun review — Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson are irresistible Groucho Marx, Chico Marx and Harpo Marx on the set of A Night at the Opera, 1935 METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER/GETTY IMAGES There'd be no screwball comedy without the Marx Brothers. Arguably Duck Soup, the one about Groucho ruling the fictional country of Freedonia, is the Brothers' lodestone, but their canvas was wider in this, a romp that never pauses for breath, featuring a breathtaking physical skit set in a cabin on a cruise liner ('and two-hard boiled eggs'), the immortal gag 'there ain't no such thing as a sanity clause' and a climactic lampoon of Verdi's baffling Il trovatore. It's bliss. Buy/rent Michael Crawford as Frank Spencer BBC Few characters are as infantile as Frank Spencer, for all his good intentions, and as he accidentally creates mayhem wherever he goes, he also creates timelessly funny farce. His DIY skills will end in systematic destruction of the room, reversing a car will somehow result in it hanging off a cliff edge ('You promise you won't be angry with me?' he asks his wife, Betty, nervously) — the man is a walking catastrophe in a tank top and proof that dumbness never ages. iPlayer Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder in Blazing Saddles ALAMY Who could watch a western — or eat baked beans — in the same way after seeing Mel Brooks's fantastically silly postmodern takedown of the genre? Packed with surreal gags and clever anachronisms, it featured a sublime central performance from Gene Wilder but it's the campfire scene that many people remember: it was believed to have set a record for the number of on-screen farts in a film. • Read more film reviews, guides about what to watch and interviews Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker would become kings of the spoof with Hot Shots!, Top Secret! and the Naked Gun franchise but this airline disaster comedy, arguably their daftest moment, was their breakthrough. A blitzkrieg of sight gags and awful puns, it included this immortal exchange between Robert Hays's Ted Striker and Leslie Nielsen's Dr Rumack: 'Can you fly this plane and land it?' Rumack says. 'Surely you can't be serious,' Striker says. 'I am serious … and don't call me Shirley.' Buy/rent Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest and Michael McKean in This Is Spinal Tap ALAMY So many expressions from this semi-improvised mock-rockumentary have entered the culture — 'These go to 11'; 'There's a thin line between clever and stupid' — that it can be hard to remember just how flaming funny it is. It's played beautifully straight, studded with great set pieces — Stonehenge almost being crushed by a dwarf; the band failing to find the stage at showtime — and has long been endorsed as ludicrously lifelike by the people it satirises. Buy/rent Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean ITV/SHUTTERSTOCK If we're talking daft comedy, there is no one dafter than Mr Bean. Like a British Jacques Tati, Rowan Atkinson is a silent clown, the entire series and its films a vehicle for his gormless, rubber-faced facial expressions as he creates chaos. Where? Everywhere: in the dentist's chair, watching a scary film at the cinema (putting popcorn in his ears), meeting the Queen in a line-up with a broken trouser zip. Admit it, you were laughing. ITVX/Netflix/Prime Video Rik Mayall as Richie and Adrian Edmondson as Eddie in Bottom BBC Nihilistic, violent and at times chaotic, Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson's sublime comedy of the absurd gave us big laughs in the Nineties across three brilliant series. Taking their Young Ones characters Richie Richard and Eddie Hitler and dropping them into a filthy flat in Hammersmith, the show is driven by the duo's ridiculous plots to make money and impress women, their perverted fantasies and an overfamiliarity that has long ago turned to contempt. iPlayer Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy in Bowfinger ALAMY Perhaps the last gasp of out-and-out silliness from its writer and star, Steve Martin, and a reminder that Eddie Murphy is a performer of genius. Martin plays the never-say-die film-maker Bobby Bowfinger and Murphy plays both the paranoid superstar Kit Ramsey — whom Bowfinger films secretly on the streets of Hollywood after he refuses to star in his no-budget sci-fi thriller 'Chubby Rain' — and his shy, hopeless twin-cum-body double, Jiff. Oh, and Heather Graham is their ruthlessly ambitious co-star. Ridiculous. Glorious. Buy/rent Larry David as a version of himself in Curb Your Enthusiasm ALAMY Larry David, the brilliant Seinfeld co-creator and producer, was not a man for boundaries in the more than two decades in which he played a hyper-real version of himself. Every episode had him offending someone, whether wearing a Maga hat to ward off unwelcome members of the public or dating a woman in a wheelchair to earn social kudos. Perhaps the silliest 'I want to die' moment came when he placed an obituary tribute to his 'beloved aunt'. Only, of course, the 'A' was accidentally switched for a 'C'. Now Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler in They Came Together ALAMY Is it too much to hope for, one really funny film comedy a year? Well, how can Hollywood commit to out-and-out grown-up laughs when a masterpiece like this spoof, the Airplane! of rom-coms, bellyflopped on release? Yet David Wain's film is constantly inventive: Paul Rudd is the corporate candy exec — 'handsome but in a non-threatening way … vaguely but not overtly Jewish' — who meets the single mother Amy Poehler, who runs a small, not-for-profit candy store (yeah, one of those) in New York. Every detail is smartly observed but, as with the best spoofs, somehow you care what happens to these goons too. Buy/rent Love TV? Jennifer Aniston's new man sparks concern as he's seen hobbling on a date with her A-list pals
Jennifer Aniston 's new hypnotist hunk boyfriend Jim Curtis was seen with cane in hand as he limped on date with the A-lister. The 49-year-old guru was seen hobbling as he arrived for a night on the town in the West Village neighborhood of New York City with his 56-year-old ladylove on Monday. The two - who revealed their romance last month - enjoyed a double date with Jennifer's close pal Jason Bateman, 56, and his longtime wife Amanda Anka, also 56, for their second public outing together. Jim - who has been open about his struggle with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and past fight with severe nerve pain - looked visibly strained as he used a cane while gingerly walking into the hotel after a three-hour dinner. No doubt the two still want to keep their relationship under wraps as they left through different doors in the hotel despite using the same car. The former star of Friends looked stylish for the night out as she sported a white maxi dress with sandals. Jennifer - who was previously married to Brad Pitt from 2000 until 2005, and then Theroux from 2011 until 2017 - sparked romance rumors after she was spotted with the life coach on vacation in Mallorca, Spain, during Fourth of July weekend. 'She's dating Jim and is very happy, but she's still taking things slowly,' a source previously told They adding that Jen 'feels very connected to Jim, as they have the same level of emotional intelligence, unlike some of her previous suitors.' Before that Aniston appeared to be dropping hints about the new man in her life. On July 14, she took to Instagram Stories with a pair of cryptic posts that had fans reading between the lines. First, the Friends alum reposted a tweet that read: 'The Friends theme song was right, no one told us life was gonna be this way' - seemingly referencing an unexpected new chapter in her life. Then came the real eyebrow-raiser: a quote from 'mindfulness expert' Case Kenny that read, 'People who still radiate love in a world that has shown them its darkest sides, please never change.' Fans immediately began theorizing that the message was about Curtis, who's known for his uplifting, love-centric philosophy. The 49-year-old guru was seen hobbling as he arrived for a night on the town in the West Village neighborhood of New York City with his ladylove on Monday No doubt the two still want to keep their relationship under wraps as they left through different doors in the hotel despite using the same car The former star of Friends looked stylish for the night out as she sported a white maxi dress with sandals Curtis regularly posts inspirational quotes and 'manifestations' to help people 'break free from their past and patterns' to find love - and Aniston has been following him on the social media platform for almost two years. Meanwhile, Jen's Instagram clues came hot on the heels of Curtis expressing how meaningful their Mallorca getaway had been. 'I am back from vacation and what an experience!' he wrote in his newsletter, according to Page Six. 'When I was sick, sad, stuck and in pain I never thought I would have the abundance, joy and love I now experience on a daily basis. 'I just took one step, made one decision and the next followed — now I look back and realize, oh! That course, that life change, that pain, resulted in this magic.' Jim added: 'The same life that brings struggle also brings opportunity. The possibility of something better — more aligned, more free, more meaningful — is always here.' Curtis has had his own share of life-changing challenges. Beginning in the summer of 1995, right after his freshman year at the University of New Hampshire, when he was hit with severe nerve pain that would stay with him for years. An MRI later revealed lesions on his spinal cord, a diagnosis that pushed Curtis to pivot from his 'frat guy athlete' persona and explore a different path focused on healing and personal transformation. He credits a university professor for setting that new course into motion. 'He taught me to meditate and introduced me to the idea of mindfulness: focusing on just being present,' Curtis shared in a 2017 interview. Curtis was previously married to Rachel Napolitano, though their relationship reportedly ended not long after she gave birth to their son, Aidan, who is now a teenager. Aniston, of course, has had her own romantic history in the spotlight. She was famously married to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005 before their headline-making split when Pitt began a relationship with Angelina Jolie while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith. She later tied the knot with actor and writer Justin Theroux in 2015, but the marriage ended in divorce three years later. In a 2022 interview, Aniston opened up for the first time about her private struggle to have children — and the emotional toll it took. 'It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,' she admitted. 'All the years and years and years of speculation... It was really hard. 'I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it,' she added. ' 'I would've given anything if someone had said to me, 'Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.' You just don't think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.'
