According to the Daily Record, there is even a suggestion that Carter-Vickers has underwent an operation in the off-season thought that has yet to be confirmed.
He has been an important man since joining Celtic, initially on loan, but then permanently from Spurs, and Brendan Rodgers will be keen to keep the defender fit.
The Hoops still have fellow countryman Auston Trusty available, as well as Liam Scales, both of whom featured regularly last campaign.

Stephen Welsh has returned from his loan move alongside Gustaf Lagerbielke, and Dane Murray and Maik Nawrocki are still on the books too.
However, Lagerbielke and Nawrocki look to be heading to the exit door, and the Hoops have also lost regular starter Greg Taylor, meaning Celtic will likely have to bolster at the back.
Kieran Tierney has returned from Arsenal, and Hayato Inamura looks set to join the Parkhead side imminently.
But Carter-Vickers' fitness will be of concern to boss Brendan Rodgers, as pre season matches and Champions League qualifiers loom large for the Hoops.

An away tie with Sporting Lisbon and a return to Celtic Park against Newcastle United is on the Hoops' agenda the following week.
They also travel to Italy at the end of the month to take part in the Como Cup alongside Ajax, Como, and Al Ahli.

The Hoops have already added Kieran Tierney, Ross Doohan, Benjamin Nygren and Callum Osmand this summer.
The questions around Vickers' fitness could lead to yet more defensive reinforcements this summer.
Celtic are also looking to add width to their squad, with question marks surrounding the future of star Nicolas Kuhn, who is attracting interest across the continent.

Wayne Rooney identifies the signing Man Utd must make before transfer deadline

Wayne Rooney says he is pleased with the 'much-needed' additions Manchester United have made to their attack, but feels the club still need to bring in a 'solid midfield player' this summer. United have made a clear statement of intent following their dismal campaign last season, completing deals for Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to help breathe new life into Ruben Amorim's misfiring frontline. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managed just seven league goals between them last term and there are hopes United's summer signings can have a transformative effect over the coming weeks and months – starting at home to Arsenal this weekend. However, the Red Devils are still working to further strengthen before the transfer deadline and have set their sights on Carlos Baleba on the back of the 21-year-old's outstanding season at the heart of Brighton's midfield. It's understood United failed with an opening offer to prise Baleba away from the south coast, but the Old Trafford giants are expected to test Brighton's resolve with a follow-up bid for the young Cameroon international in due course. Asked whether United's recent additions are going to provide the goals that Amorim's side lacked last season, Rooney told the BBC's Match of the Day programme: 'You'd hope so. 'It's something that was very much needed and it's great that they've identified the players they wanted quite early. 'They've got Cunha in and Mbeumo and then Sesko. I think getting Sesko is a really important signing. 'He's a target man, a number nine, he's quick, he can use both feet and he's good in the air. 'I think it's a very important time for Manchester United.' According to Rooney, United's all-time record goalscorer, a more defence-minded central midfielder in the mold of Baleba would bring greater 'control' and give Bruno Fernandes license to push forward. 'I still would like to see them sign a solid midfield player who is going to help control games for them, but also build up play,' the iconic ex-United and England captain added. 'I'd still like one more. I think Bruno, I'd like to see him pushed forward and that allows him to go forward and play forward more. @metrosportuk ♬ Beat Way Up – Type Beats Trap 'So I think they've been good signings, but I'd like to see them get one or two more.' More Trending Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, meanwhile, believes United have recruited well, but is unsure Amorim will be able to get the best out of Fernandes if he sticks with his current 3-4-3 formation. 'I think they're really good signings as well and United will be better,' Murphy chimed in. 'But if he [Amorim] persists with that formation, with a front three, and then Bruno as one of the two, which isn't his best position because he doesn't want to do all the defensive work. 'He's a creator, a match-winner and he's one of the best creators in the Premier League.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Wayne Rooney: Criticism from Birmingham minority owner Tom Brady ‘very unfair'

Wayne Rooney claims Birmingham minority owner Tom Brady's criticism of him during his spell as the club's manager was 'very unfair'. Rooney, sacked by Birmingham in January 2024 after less than three months in charge, said he was 'really disappointed with the comment' on his new podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show. NFL great Brady, who became a minority shareholder at Birmingham in August 2023, said he was 'a little worried about our head coach's work ethic' during a documentary after visiting Blues' training ground the following November. Former England captain Rooney said he was 'really disappointed' at the seven-time Super Bowl winner's criticism. Speaking via his new show on the BBC, the ex-Everton and Manchester United striker said: 'I think Tom came in once, which was the day before a game where the days are a little bit lighter anyway, and I don't think he really understood football that well. 'But what he does understand is – he's a hard worker – we know that.' Rooney added: 'Football is not NFL – NFL works for three months a year. Players do need rest as well, so I think he's very unfair, the way he's come out and portrayed that.' Birmingham were bought out by American consortium Knighthead Capital Management in the summer of 2023 and Brady became a shareholder two months later. Rooney was sacked following 15 matches after Blues had slipped to 20th in the Sky Bet Championship and the club were relegated at the end of the 2023-24 season. Under current boss Chris Davies, Birmingham bounced straight back to the second tier as League One champions last season with an English Football League record points tally of 111.
