Irwin set for BSB return from injury at Thruxton

Northern Ireland's Glenn Irwin says he has been declared "fit for work" and is set to return to the British Superbike Championship at Thruxton.
The 35-year-old suffered fractures to his hip socket and pelvis as a result of a practice crash at Snetterton in June and had surgery on his sacrum (pelvic region) as part of his treatment.
Irwin had finished on the podium in four of the first five races of the 2025 season but missed two rounds after his accident and was replaced by 2019 BSB champion Scott Redding.
However, after a private test at Nutts Corner, Irwin is ready to return at Thruxton from 8-10 August.
Irwin had told BBC Sport NI earlier in July that he would likely return for the round at Caldwell Park, two weeks after Thruxton, but he has recovered faster than initially hoped.
"[The] Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon has examined me and reviewed all the radiology and certified me fit for work," the 11-time North West 200 race winner posted on social media.
"I spent the afternoon at Nutts Corner were I set my fastest lap of the year on my training bike.
"Thanks to my team for all their support, my sponsors, the fans and all the people who assisted in my recovery. See you all at Thruxton!"
Irwin is a two-time runner-up in the British Superbike Championship and finished third in the standings in 2024.

Pictures: Manchester United players move into stunning new-look Carrington

Manchester United have confirmed that Ruben Amorim and his players returned to a new and revamped Carrington training facility on Wednesday morning. Carrington undergoes improvements Last year, United confirmed that they had initiated work on an ambitious £50m project that would see Carrington be transformed into a 'world-class' complex. A big part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's bid to become co-owner of United was to invest heavily in improving United's infrastructure after several years of neglect and pitiful management by the Glazer family. Award-winning and Manchester-born architect Lord Norman Foster was hired to oversee the renovations at Carrington. United noted that they planned to revamp the gym, medical, nutrition and recovery areas and insisted there was 'a design emphasis on creating more space for collaboration and innovation among players and staff.' The project ran throughout the entire 2024/25 season and was set to officially open just before the start of the upcoming campaign. Last week, Amorim said about the redeveloped Carrington, 'It's like a new start with different standards and I think to go to our building, to the new building is like a fresh start.' 'So, I think the timing is completely perfect to do everything. The good thing is that everybody's aligned what we need to do and now it's to win games, game by game try to win every game and the performance are really important as well.' Now, United have announced that the players have returned to a new-look Carrington following the completion of their United States pre-season tour. United also teased the Carrington's opening on social media.
