The prospect of being held underwater by one of The Krays' henchmen is not one most people would jump at — unless you're East 17's Terry Coldwell.
Terry, 50, gladly put himself in Chris Lambrianou's arms to be baptised at the River Church in London's East End.
Seven born-again Christians stepped into the water with the 83-year-old former gangster, who spent part of his life as a member of 'The Firm'.
The Firm was the nickname given to Ronnie and Reggie Kray's gang, based in Bethnal Green, London, throughout the 50s and 60s.
A video shared by the Daily Mail showed Terry, speaking with Chris and the church's pastor, Dave Gill, as he stood in waist-high water for the ceremony.
'I've just been baptised and I feel absolutely amazing,' the Stay Another Day hitmaker told the Daily Mail. 'The service has been phenomenal today.'
Terry added: 'I just feel great. I feel it was a long time coming and I'm really glad I did it.'
A baptism is usually performed by a priest or bishop, but there are no restrictions on this in the Bible.
East 17 rose to fame in the 90s, consisting of Terry, Tony Mortimer, Brian Harvey and John Hendy, with over 18million albums worldwide.
The lineup has changed over the years, with Terry remaining constant, although he recently shared that he doubted a reunion was likely.
Meanwhile, Chris had a very different career and would probably rather have avoided the spotlight entirely.
He was involved in the dumping of Jack 'The Hat' McVitie's body after he was stabbed by Reggie in 1967.
During his prison sentence after being arrested for armed robbery, Chris found God and moved away from his life of crime.
Of the baptism, he shared: ''Baptising so many people gives me a spiritual high. It's like you cannot buy the feeling I have. More Trending
'That can only come from Jesus Christ. Trust in him and he will never fail you.'
He also set up a charity with a former Metropolitan police detective, Jon Wedger, to help provide work for young people and keep them from turning to crime.
Jon attended the Sunday service along with some close friends and said: 'I found the service to be very moving. I've know Terry for a few years and his faith has got stronger and stronger and I think it's been niggling away at him to get baptised for a while now.
'Myself and Chris have worked together for a while now. He is a man who has turned his back on crime and devoted himself to God and is making a difference now in people's lives and helping youngsters avoid making the same mistakes he did.'

Here comes the bride! 'Australia's Most Sexually Active Woman' Annie Knight teases potential wedding dress as she prepares to marry Henry Brayshaw
Annie Knight is working hard to ensure she looks radiant for her upcoming wedding to fiancé Henry Brayshaw. The adult content creator, 28, dubbed 'Australia's Most Sexually Active Woman', shared a photo to social media on Thursday which captured her trying on a gorgeous wedding dress. In the photo, Annie posed wearing a traditional white wedding gown that was shown from the waist down. The gown featured a long train, subtle lace detailing and diamantes emblazoned on the skirt, completing her look with a simple veil. Annie let the photo speak for itself as she did not write anything in the caption. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Last month, Annie hosted a lavish $10,000 party to celebrate her engagement. The happy couple, who have been friends for ten years, got engaged in March - just one week after rekindling their relationship. Henry, 27, popped the question over a romantic dinner in Beverly Hills during a trip to LA. The star recently shared intimate details to Daily Mail Australia about their celebration. 'We spent $10,000 on the night including venue, cake, decorations, drinks and accommodation,' Annie said. The event was hosted at the upmarket George on Collins in Melbourne, which specialises in contemporary dishes with an Asian-inspired twist. The sex worker said she and Henry forked out the cash to make sure their guests could drink and eat whatever they pleased while they celebrated the couple's love. It comes after the eye-watering cost of Annie's huge diamond engagement ring was revealed. Sparing no expense, Henry, who is the son of sports commentator James Brayshaw, proposed to Annie with a three-carat diamond, which Daily Mail Australia revealed is worth up to $200,000. The enormous oval cut stone takes up almost the width of Annie's finger and is placed on an elegant gold band. Austen & Blake jewellery expert Tony French exclusively told Daily Mail Australia that 'a natural diamond of this carat could cost anywhere between $140,000-$200,000. Annie said she has already started planning her wedding to Henry, with the couple hoping to tie the knot in late 2026 in Australia. 'I'm a very organised person. I love planning,' she gushed to Daily Mail Australia. Annie also revealed her mother Karyn was the first person she called after Henry popped the question, but after informing her father Simon and her friends, she went straight to OnlyFans to tell her subscribers. The blonde makes millions by selling sexually explicit videos and images to her devout fans on the adult website, and Annie made sure they knew she wouldn't be going anywhere despite the ring on her finger. Earlier this year, Annie made it clear her relationship with Henry won't stop her from bedding hundreds of men before her wedding night. She said her fiancé is completely monogamous and faithful to her and is forbidden from sleeping with other women - but the same rules don't apply to her.

Julie Goodwin reveals her shock weight loss amid rumours she will be replacing Poh Ling Yeow as judge on Masterchef following rumoured exit
Julie Goodwin has lost even more weight following her dramatic 'accidental' transformation, which saw her drop a whopping 20kg almost a decade ago. Taking to Instagram, the 54-year-old had fans doing a double take as she shared a selfie of her looking thinner than ever following an appearance on Sunrise. Julie let her greys grow and flaunted a more au natural colour for her locks while showcasing her weight loss since winning the cooking show in 2009. The kitchen extraordinaire looked slimmer than ever as she encouraged fans to try her chicken pie with potato bake topping. Despite her makeover, Julie still donned her signature wide-frame glasses in the post, while wearing a black and white striped shirt. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Taking to Instagram, the 54-year-old had fans doing a double take as she shared a selfie of her looking thinner than ever following an appearance on Sunrise Back in 2016, Goodwin revealed that her dramatic weight loss had nothing to do with dieting and it's certainly no cause for celebration. 'It's not that I've gone on some stupid, sad diet and dropped a whole heap of weight in a hurry. It's not anything like that,' she told Women's Weekly at the time. 'I am running a business and running around like a mad thing, and sometimes I forget to eat, none of which is healthy.' Julie reprised her MasterChef appearance in 2012 for the MasterChef All Stars series before appearing on Ten's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in 2015. More recently, Julie appeared on the 2024 season of Channel Seven hit Dancing with the Stars. During her stint on the series, the show's judges called her 'a sexy vixen,' 'a sassy minx,' and even a 'dominatrix'. The MasterChef winner revealed what she really thinks of the stunning response to her makeover for the dance competition in an interview with Daily Mail Australia. 'That was unexpected and unfamiliar,' Julie laughed. 'My family thought it was hilarious. I'm normally cooking and running around after my granddaughter, not pushing a good looking man around on the floor. 'I was stoked with the judges' feedback,' she said. 'It was nice to hear that I'd gotten the dance pretty right.' Goodwin is back in the headlines this week, amid rumours that the popular fan favourite will be replacing Poh Ling Yeow as a judge on MasterChef as the cooking competition faces another shake-up in the star cast. As previously reported by Daily Mail Australia, Poh is said to be preparing her exit from the long-running series at the end of this season - prompting executives to search for a new judge to join Andy Allen, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli on the panel. And according to New Idea, Julie's name is being floated as a potential replacement. 'Julie would be a fantastic judge. Fans love her,' a source told the outlet. 'While no one wants to see Poh leave, everyone would welcome Julie back with open arms.' Julie, who beat Poh in the very first season of MasterChef back in 2009, returned to the franchise in 2022 before making a surprise appearance as a guest judge in 2023. Insiders say she 'absolutely loved' her time on the other side of the bench and could be ready to return in a more permanent capacity.
