PM Modi to address gathering at queen Devi Ahilyabai Holkar's birth anniversary celebrations in Bhopal on May 31
BHOPAL: Eighteenth century's legendary Holkar dynasty queen Devi Ahilyabai Holkar – who is famous for good governance and social reforms, besides cultural patronage and religious contributions – is presently at the centerstage of BJP's development politics in Madhya Pradesh.
Ongoing celebrations marking the 300th birth anniversary of the visionary queen of Malwa kingdom, which began in September 2024, will reach its zenith on May 31 (the birth anniversary date) – when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 'Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Mahasammelan' at Bhopal's Jamboree Maidan.
The mega gathering of women (perhaps the first all women mega gathering to be addressed by the PM anywhere since Operation Sindoor) will see the presence of two lakh women from across the state.
'The gathering will have the presence of women entrepreneurs, workers, self help group members as well as beneficiaries of various women-oriented welfare schemes, like CM Ladli Behna Yojana. It will also see the PM virtually inaugurating the metro railway for Indore, unveiling new airports in Satna and Datia and foundation laying of a Kshipra river ghat in Ujjain,' state's urban development and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said.
'While the PM will inaugurate the projects virtually from Bhopal, union ministers are likely to be present in each of the locations, Indore, Ujjain, Satna and Datia simultaneously,' he said.

The TOI correspondent from Washington: An indirect war of words erupted between Indian and Pakistani delegations on Wednesday as they arrived separately in the US capital to present their respective versions of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Operation Sindoor , and the Kashmir issue , and the growing rift between the two nations. The spat was triggered by gratuitous remarks by Bilawal Bhutto, leader of the Pakistani delegation, who at a press conference at the United Nations in New York, likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a "Temu version of (Benjamin) Netanyahu...a poor copy" as he sought to draw parallels between India's punitive response to Pahalgal and Israeli actions in Gaza. It must be hurting to see authentic, high-caliber military hardware and also strong democratic leadership on the other side of the border," clapped back Tejasvi Surya, a member of the Indian team, as it arrived in Washington DC and began meetings with US lawmakers, think-tanks, and social media influencers. "A country that is busy creating fake heroes, by promoting failed Generals, will never know what true leaders look like," Surya added. Shashi Tharoor, leader of the Indian delegation, appeared to have anticipated the clash, almost with a sense of relish, noting as the team arrived in Washington DC that the Pakistanis would also be there at the same time "so there's going to be perhaps an increase in interest because there are two duelling delegations in the same city." But Bhutto was down for the count even before got to Washington when he was ambushed at the UN as he tried to enlist sympathetic journalists with planted questions aimed at amplifying Pakistan's narrative about India's treatment of Muslims. Embarrassingly for him, a reporter called him out saying he had watched the briefings on both sides and "as far as I recall, there were Muslim Indian military officers who were conducting the briefings on the Indian side. " Bhutto also claimed that Pakistan radars had locked into 20 Indian jets on the night of May 7 and "If we wanted, we could've taken down all 20," but Pakistan showed restraint and"only 6 were shot down — the ones that launched strikes." He also rolled out the familiar trope about Pakistan being a "victim of terrorism" -- in a city where Pakistani nationals Ramzi Yousuf and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed launched attacks on the World Trade Center in 1993 and 2001. While NCP leaders like Rohit and Anil Deshmukh have maintained that no official talks have been held so far between the two parties, the clamour around the merger has already forced leaders to vie for key party posts. Notably, if the merger happens, Praful Patel and Supriya Sule will be among the top contenders for the Modi cabinet. The chatters have also grown on social media with people claiming that the NCP-NCPSP merger could take place in June itself and thus, the BJP-led NDA's number in the Lok Sabha may go beyond the 300 mark. Notably, the NDA has 293 seats in the Lok Sabha and if the NCPSP joins the alliance, then its tally will go to 301 with the eight seats of Shara Pawar's party. NCP-SP's merger or joining of the NDA will deal a big jolt to the Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra where the Congress and Shiv Sena-UBT are largely dependent on the NCP-SP in regions like Western Maharashtra and Marathawada.
