KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is all set to host the World Social Security Forum (WSSF) 2025 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Sept 29 to Oct 3.
This global event is being organised by the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
For one week, Kuala Lumpur will become the world capital of social security, uniting leaders, experts and institutions from around the world.
This year's forum themed "Shaping Social Security for a World in Transition", will explore the challenges and opportunities arising from global demographic changes, labour market dynamics, technological developments and the push for sustainability - all of which are shaping the future of social security.
The Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) announced in a statement that WSSF 2025 is set to be a strategic platform for exploring bold ideas, forward-thinking and innovations aimed at strengthening social security systems to be more relevant, inclusive and resilient in addressing today's global challenges.
"The sharing of insights from global figures and pioneers in social security carries immense value, serving as a catalyst for social system reforms that not only protect but also empower and strengthen community resilience," it said.
The forum is expected to attract over 1,500 delegates from the ISSA's 336 member organisations in 164 countries, as well as ministers, chief executive officers, technical experts and representatives from international organisations.
The WSSF 2025 will for the first time feature the International Social Security Video Festival and Awards, showcasing commitments to promoting social security.
Meanwhile, the ISSA Outstanding Achievement Award will be presented to a country for demonstrating exceptional achievements in strengthening social security systems.
Throughout the five-day event, there will be a range of plenary sessions, more than 80 interactive sessions, panel workshops, tutorial sessions and the ISSA Innovation Zone; making this forum a holistic experience in knowledge sharing and fostering international cooperation.
WSSF 2025 is co-hosted by PERKESO and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF). It is also supported by the Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP) and the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister's Department (ICU JPM) as the secretariat for the Malaysian Social Protection Council (MySPC).
This event strengthens Malaysia's commitment to consolidating its social protection system, while elevating the country's role as a global strategic partner in the universal welfare agenda. It also opens a unique opportunity for Malaysia to showcase its social security policies and initiatives on the world stage.

PETRA To Drive National Water Policy For Sustainable Supply

KOTA BHARU, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) is committed to strengthening the implementation of the National Water Policy as a driver for transforming the national water sector, ensuring safe, viable and sustainable water supply for the people. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said this effort will not only enhance the security of the country's water resources but also drive Malaysia towards becoming a dynamic water hub with potential contributions to economic development, job creation, and facilitating research and development (R&D). 'In this context, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) plays an important role in strengthening cooperation at the federal, state and local government levels towards integrated water management. 'The transformation of the water sector towards more efficient water management requires an integrated information system to safeguard water security and ensure ecosystem sustainability for a better future,' he said. He was speaking at the 2025 JPS Senior Managers and District Engineers Conference here today, which was also attended by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud. Fadillah, who is also Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, said efficient and sustainable water resource management remains one of the main focuses of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), especially as issues of clean water supply security and changing rainfall patterns due to climate change become increasingly critical. Under Thrust A7 — Strengthening Flood Mitigation and Adaptation — the government emphasises implementing more comprehensive, integrated and innovative strategies to increase the nation's resilience to increasingly complex and high-impact flood disasters. 'As the main technical agency in managing national water resources, PETRA hopes JPS will continue to lead in ensuring integrated, sustainable and resilient water resource management in Malaysia. 'JPS is also expected to strengthen its role as a facilitator of the national water policy at the state and district levels so that there are no gaps in planning and implementing water-related projects,' he added.
