TipRanks' AI Analyst Take on Archer
The bottom line is that TipRanks' AI Analyst keeps its rating at Neutral, with a score of 49, reflecting real progress alongside the financial strain of a company still in its pre-revenue phase. Archer has yet to book sales. Like other eVTOL developers before launch, it runs on financing. In Q1, it logged $144 million in GAAP operating expenses and an adjusted EBITDA loss of $109 million, showing the steep cost of scaling and certification prep.
However, the cash position tells a different story. Archer ended Q1 with $1.03 billion on hand, plus $400 million from Stellantis (STLA) and $300 million from an equity raise earlier this year. That liquidity puts it among the best-funded early-stage aerospace names, giving it breathing room to hit key milestones. And milestones are coming thick and fast. Test flights in Abu Dhabi drew UAE regulators and investors, with the Midnight aircraft holding up under extreme heat. Piloted testing is next, though minor delays have been linked to new flight instrumentation.
Partnerships add another layer. Archer is working with Anduril on defense aviation and with Palantir (PLTR) on AI-driven aviation software, giving it a path to markets beyond passenger air service.
What's the Plan, Stan?
Still, the AI Analyst notes risks. Equity dilutes shareholders. Certification, execution, and supply chain issues could push timelines. Competition in the eVTOL space is also heating up, as Joby Aviation (JOBY) is moving rapidly toward commercial flight.
The plan now is to scale to two aircraft a month by late 2025, launch in the UAE by year-end, and begin U.S. service in early 2026. For now, the Neutral rating says the opportunity is real but matched by the challenges. Investors will be watching tomorrow's earnings call for signs that Archer can keep momentum without losing altitude.
Is Archer Aviation Stock a Good Buy?
Despite the stock's speculative nature, Wall Street analysts remain optimistic about the company. Based on six recent ratings, Archer Aviation boasts a 'Moderate Buy' consensus with an average 12-month price target of $11.92. This implies a 22.63% upside from the current price.

‘Too Many Red Flags,' Says Top Investor About Tesla Stock
Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) stock has faced a rough ride in 2025, with shares sliding sharply before staging a recovery in recent months – yet still leaving investors down about 15% year-to-date. At the heart of this downturn is a slowdown in EV sales, pressured by intensifying competition – particularly from Chinese rivals – and a tarnished brand image fueled by CEO Elon Musk's constant forays into politics. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. The sales trend has been moving in the wrong direction for some time: Q2 2025 marked the second straight year-over-year decline, and even the ever-optimistic Musk conceded that the company could be in for a 'rough' couple of quarters. While that's a sobering admission, Tesla's future isn't devoid of promise. The company is working on multiple ambitious fronts, from full self-driving technology to autonomous robots and AI initiatives. But whether Tesla is actually on the right track to capture those opportunities is a point of contention. One top investor known by the pseudonym Noah's Arc Capital Management is worried that Tesla is not positioning itself to take full advantage of these vast opportunities. 'Tesla's growth momentum has faltered, and this downturn was more than just a blip,' explains the 5-star investor, who is among the top 2% of TipRanks' stock pros. It is not just the slowing EV numbers that have Noah's Arc up in arms, but a lack of discipline that the company seems to be demonstrating. The investor is anxious to see Tesla focus more on full self-driving, believing this to be the big money maker going forward. Instead, Noah's Arc is dismayed that Musk is chasing political sideshows and marginal business ventures (such as the Tesla Diner). 'His attention is divided among so many different endeavors, and Tesla is only getting a small share of that,' adds Noah's Arc. That's never an ideal scenario, but it becomes even more damaging when the company's full self-driving ambitions remain far behind Alphabet's Waymo. And yet, even with the most recent drop in share price, Tesla continues to trade at a 'stretched' valuation, with a Forward Price-to-Earnings multiple north of 190x. This, according to Noah's Arc, leaves nary any 'margin for error.' 'I'm double-downgrading Tesla from strong buy to hold due to Musk's distractions and operational risks outweighing prior bullishness,' sums up Noah's Arc. (To watch Noah's Arc's track record, click here) That's right around where Wall Street finds itself as well. With 14 Buy, 15 Hold, and 8 Sell ratings, TSLA has a consensus Hold (i.e. Neutral) rating. Its 12-month average price target of $307.23 implies ~11% downside from current levels. Position squaring and long liquidation pressures ahead of this week's US inflation reports on July CPI and PPI weighed on stocks Monday. Subscribe today! Stocks on Monday initially moved higher, with the S&P 500 posting a 1-week high and the Nasdaq 10 posting a new record high. Recent dovish Fed comments have bolstered the outlook for Fed rate cuts sooner rather than later and are supportive of stocks. Fed Governor Michelle Bowman said she supports an interest rate cut at the September FOMC meeting and that she favors three interest rate cuts this year. Stocks also garnered support Monday when CNBC reported that President Trump is extending the tariff truce with China, which was to expire on Tuesday, for another 90 days. Stocks were also under pressure as hopes dim for an imminent end to the Russian-Ukrainian war. President Trump on Monday downplayed expectations of a breakthrough to end the war in Ukraine when he meets with Russian President Putin this Friday in Alaska, saying the summit is a "feel-out meeting" to end the war in Ukraine. Also, comments from Ukrainian President Zelenskiy dampened hopes for a quick end to the war when he rejected any talk of Ukraine ceding territory to Russia. Stocks are seeing support from speculation that recent weaker-than-expected US economic news and dovish Fed commentary will push the Fed to lower interest rates as soon as next month. On Saturday, Fed Governor Michelle Bowman said she supports cutting interest rates at the FOMC's next meeting in September and that she favors three rate cuts this year to "help avoid a further unnecessary erosion in labor market conditions and reduce the chance that the committee will need to implement a larger policy correction should the labor market deteriorate further." The chances of a Fed rate cut at the September FOMC meeting rose to 88% from 40% earlier this month. The price of Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) rose more than +1% Monday to a 4-week high, boosted by strong demand from institutional investors and corporate buyers, which are helping to lift the entire cryptocurrency market. According to data from Coingecko, digital-asset treasury companies, listed vehicles that accumulate cryptocurrencies, have amassed a Bitcoin stockpile worth $113 billion thus far. In recent tariff news, CNBC on Monday reported that President Trump will extend the tariff truce with China, which was to expire on Tuesday, for another 90 days. Last Wednesday, President Trump announced that he will impose a 100% tariff on semiconductor imports. Still, companies would be eligible for exemptions if they demonstrate a commitment to building their products in the US. However, the US will levy a separate tax on imports of electronic products that employ semiconductors. Also, President Trump announced last Wednesday that he will double tariffs on US imports from India to 50% from the current 25% tariff, due to India's purchases of Russian oil. Last Tuesday, Mr. Trump said that US tariffs on pharmaceutical imports would be announced "within the next week or so." According to Bloomberg Economics, the average US tariff will rise to 15.2% if rates are implemented as announced, up from 13.3% earlier, and significantly higher than the 2.3% in 2024 before the tariffs were announced. The market's focus this week will be on corporate earnings results and any new trade or tariff news. On Tuesday, the July US CPI is expected to edge up to +2.8% y/y from +2.7% y/y in June, and the July CPI ex-food and energy is expected to climb +3.0% y/y from +2.9% y/y in June. On Thursday, weekly initial unemployment claims are expected to fall by -1,000 to 225,000. Also on Thursday, the July final-demand PPI is expected to increase to +2.5% y/y from +2.3% y/y in June, and the July PPI ex-food and energy is expected to rise to +2.9% y/y from +2.6% y/y in June. On Friday, July US retail sales are expected to climb +0.5% m/m and retail sales ex-autos are expected to rise +0.3% m/m. Also on Friday, July manufacturing production is expected to remain unchanged m/m. Finally, the University of Michigan's Aug US consumer sentiment index is expected to climb by +0.3 to 62.0. Federal funds futures prices are discounting the chances for a -25 bp rate cut at 88% at the September 16-17 FOMC meeting and 62% at the following meeting on October 28-29. Earnings reports indicate that S&P 500 earnings for Q2 are on track to rise +9.1% y/y, much better than the pre-season expectations of +2.8% y/y and the most in four years, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. With over 82% of S&P 500 firms having reported Q2 earnings, about 82% of companies exceeded profit estimates. Overseas stock markets on Monday settled mixed. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell from a 1-week high and closed down -0.30%. China's Shanghai Composite rallied to a 10-month high and closed up +0.34%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 was closed today for the Mountain Day holiday. Interest Rates September 10-year T-notes (ZNU25) Monday closed up +2 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield fell -0.4 bp to 4.279%. T-notes posted modest gains on Monday on mounting speculation that the Fed may soon cut interest rates after Fed Governor Michelle Bowman said she supports an interest rate cut at the September FOMC meeting and that she favors three interest rate cuts this year. T-notes also have carryover support from last Thursday, when President Trump nominated Stephen Miran for Fed Governor to replace Adriana Kugler for the rest of the year. Miran views President Trump's policies as disinflationary and would support a more dovish Fed policy. European government bond yields on Monday settled mixed. The 10-year German bund yield rose by +0.6 bp to 2.696%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell -3.6 bp to 4.565%. Swaps are discounting the chances at 6% for a -25 bp rate cut by the ECB at the September 11 policy meeting. (AI) closed down more than -25% after DA Davidson downgraded the stock to underperform from neutral with a price target of $13, citing preliminary earnings results that were "significantly below guidance." AAON Inc. (AAON) closed down more than -10% after reporting Q2 EPS of 19 cents, well below the consensus of 32 cents. Upstart Holdings (UPST) closed down more than -7% after announcing it will offer $500 million of convertible senior notes due in 2032 in a private offering. Atlassian Corp (TEAM) closed down more than -5% as analysts have cut their price targets for the stock by an average of 11% since it posted earnings last Thursday. Hershey (HSY) closed down more than -4% to lead chocolate makers lower on demand concerns after cocoa prices jumped more than +2% to a 6-week high. Compass Minerals Reports Fiscal 2025 Third-Quarter Results
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Compass Minerals (NYSE: CMP), a leading global provider of essential minerals, today reported fiscal 2025 third-quarter results. Unless otherwise noted, it should be assumed that time periods referenced below are on a fiscal-year basis. MANAGEMENT COMMENTARY "Compass Minerals had a strong third quarter that saw year-over-year improvement on a number of performance measures," said Edward C. Dowling Jr., president and CEO. "In the Salt business, while pricing was relatively flat in both the highway deicing and C&I businesses, costs declined which allowed for adjusted EBITDA margin expansion and per-ton growth compared to the same period last year. Our ramp up of highway deicing production is underway as we prepare for the coming deicing season. North American bid season is going well and we are seeing improvements in pricing and commitment sizes compared to last year. The Plant Nutrition business is benefiting from stronger sales volumes and lower production costs, which drove improvements in segment level operating income and adjusted EBITDA. On the financial front, we took steps in the third quarter with our refinancing activities to enhance our financial flexibility. We further reduced net debt and strengthened our balance sheet with the sale of certain assets related to Fortress during the quarter. We continue to execute on our back-to-basics strategy and the results from the quarter reflect the progress we are making." QUARTERLY HIGHLIGHTS Net loss of $17.0 million for the third quarter of 2025, inclusive of loss on extinguishment of debt, improved from net loss in prior year of $43.6 million; Total company adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter of 2025 of $41.0 million, up 25% year over year; Salt business operating earnings and adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter of 2025 increased 4% and 6%, respectively, on a per-ton basis; Salt sales volumes up 4% year over year; and Plant Nutrition sales volumes in third quarter of 2025 up 21% from comparable prior year period; realized increases in operating earnings and adjusted EBITDA on both absolute and per-ton bases. QUARTERLY FINANCIAL RESULTS * Non-GAAP financial measure. Reconciliations to the most directly comparable GAAP financial measure are provided in tables at the end of this press release. Expand SALT BUSINESS COMMENTARY Salt revenue totaled $166.0 million and was up 3% year over year, driven by a 4% year-over-year sales volume increase, partially offset by a 1% decrease in average sales price. In the highway deicing business, year over year the company realized a 1% increase in average highway deicing selling price while sales volumes increased 5%. Consumer and Industrial (C&I) pricing decreased 1% year over year to approximately $193 per ton and sales volumes increased by 2%. Distribution costs per ton were flat year over year, while all-in product costs (defined at the segment level as sales to external customers less distribution costs less operating earnings) per ton declined 2% from the comparable prior-year quarter. Operating earnings for the quarter increased by 9% to $28.1 million from the prior-year period. Adjusted EBITDA increased to $45.8 million, up 10% from the prior-year period. Adjusted EBITDA per ton increased 6% to $29.66. PLANT NUTRITION BUSINESS COMMENTARY Plant Nutrition revenue for the quarter totaled $44.8 million, up 15% year over year on improved sales volumes. The average segment sales price for the quarter was down 5% year over year to approximately $659 per ton, reflecting supply conditions of potassium-based fertilizers globally. Per-unit distribution costs for the quarter increased 10% year over year supporting sales in markets further from the company's core western U.S. markets. Reported all-in product costs per ton decreased of 23% year over year to approximately $484 per ton. Operating earnings in the Plant Nutrition business was $5.2 million for the quarter, compared to operating loss of $1.4 million in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted EBITDA improved to $11.4 million versus $7.2 million last year. CASH FLOW AND FINANCIAL POSITION Net cash provided by operating activities amounted to $204.6 million for the nine months ended June 30, 2025, compared to $27.1 million in the prior year. A significant reduction in North American salt inventory driven by stronger winter weather and strategic positioning of inventory levels was the primary contributor to the significant improvement year over year. Net cash used in investing activities was $34.7 million for the nine months ended June 30, 2025, down from $95.0 million in the prior year principally driven by lower capital spending and proceeds from the sale of Fortress North America (Fortress) assets. Total capital spending for the nine months ended June 30, 2025 was $53.8 million. In the third quarter, the company sold certain assets and intellectual property for net proceeds of $19.6 million related to the previously announced exit of its fire retardant business. Net cash used in financing activities was $111.5 million for the nine months ended June 30, 2025, which included net debt payments of $87.0 million. In the prior year, net cash provided by financing activities reflected net borrowings of $69.5 million. Current year results reflect the previously disclosed debt financing activities that occurred in June of 2025. Compass Minerals recognized a loss from extinguishment of debt of $7.6 million due to the redemption of a portion of the outstanding 6.75% senior unsecured notes and modifications to the company's credit agreement. The company ended the quarter with $388.7 million of liquidity, comprised of $79.4 million in cash and cash equivalents and $309.3 million of availability under its $325 million revolving credit facility. The company's salt and sulfate of potash production in Canada is qualified under the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement. Accordingly, Compass Minerals' exports from Canada into the United States continue to be exempt from tariffs at this time. Forward-Looking Statements and Other Disclaimers This press release may contain forward-looking statements, including, without limitation, statements about the outcome of the North American bid season, including pricing and commitment sizes, the execution of back-to-basics strategy, competitive advantages, tariffs, tax rates, and the company's outlook for 2025, including its expectations regarding sales volumes, revenue, Adjusted EBITDA, depreciation, depletion, and amortization, interest expense, tax rates, and capital expenditures. Forward-looking statements are those that predict or describe future events or trends and that do not relate solely to historical matters. The company uses words such as 'may,' 'would,' 'could,' 'should,' 'will,' 'likely,' 'expect,' 'anticipate,' 'believe,' 'intend,' 'plan,' 'forecast,' 'outlook,' 'project,' 'estimate' and similar expressions suggesting future outcomes or events to identify forward-looking statements or forward-looking information. These statements are based on the company's current expectations and involve risks and uncertainties that could cause the company's actual results to differ materially. The differences could be caused by a number of factors, including without limitation (i) weather conditions, (ii) inflation, the cost and availability of transportation for the distribution of the company's products and foreign exchange rates, (iii) pressure on prices and impact from competitive products, and (iv) any inability by the company to successfully implement its strategic priorities or its cost-saving or enterprise optimization initiatives. For further information on these and other risks and uncertainties that may affect the company's business, see the 'Risk Factors' and 'Management's Discussion and Analysis of Financial Condition and Results of Operations' sections of the company's Amended Annual Report on Form 10-K for the period ended Sept. 30, 2024, and its Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q for the quarters ended Dec. 31, 2024, March 31, 2025, and June 30, 2025 filed or to be filed with the SEC, as well as the company's other SEC filings. The company undertakes no obligation to update any forward-looking statements made in this press release to reflect future events or developments, except as required by law. Because it is not possible to predict or identify all such factors, this list cannot be considered a complete set of all potential risks or uncertainties. Non-GAAP Measures In addition to using U.S. generally accepted accounting principles ('GAAP') financial measures, management uses a variety of non-GAAP financial measures described below to evaluate the company's and its operating segments' performance. While the consolidated financial statements provide an understanding of the company's overall results of operations, financial condition and cash flows, management analyzes components of the consolidated financial statements to identify certain trends and evaluate specific performance areas. Management uses EBITDA, EBITDA adjusted for items which management believes are not indicative of the company's ongoing operating performance ('Adjusted EBITDA') and EBITDA margin to evaluate the operating performance of the company's core business operations because its resource allocation, financing methods and cost of capital, and income tax positions are managed at a corporate level, apart from the activities of the operating segments, and the operating facilities are located in different taxing jurisdictions, which can cause considerable variation in net earnings. Management also uses adjusted operating earnings, adjusted operating margin, adjusted net earnings, and adjusted net earnings per diluted share, which eliminate the impact of certain items that management does not consider indicative of underlying operating performance. The presentation of these measures should not be construed as an inference that future results will be unaffected by unusual or non-recurring items. Management believes these non-GAAP financial measures provide management and investors with additional information that is helpful when evaluating underlying performance. EBITDA and Adjusted EBITDA exclude interest expense, income taxes and depreciation, depletion and amortization, each of which are an essential element of the company's cost structure and cannot be eliminated. In addition, Adjusted EBITDA and Adjusted EBITDA margin exclude certain cash and non-cash items, including stock-based compensation, impairment charges and certain restructuring charges. Consequently, any measure that excludes these elements has material limitations. The non-GAAP financial measures used by management should not be considered in isolation or as a substitute for net earnings, operating earnings, cash flows or other financial data prepared in accordance with GAAP or as a measure of overall profitability or liquidity. These measures are not necessarily comparable to similarly titled measures of other companies due to potential inconsistencies in the method of calculation. The calculation of non-GAAP financial measures as used by management is set forth in the following tables. All margin numbers are defined as the relevant measure divided by sales. The company does not provide a reconciliation of forward-looking non-GAAP financial measures to the most directly comparable financial measures calculated and reported in accordance with GAAP, as the company is unable to estimate significant non-recurring, unusual items and/or distinct non-core initiatives without unreasonable effort. The amounts and timing of these items are uncertain and could be material to the company's results. Adjusted operating earnings, adjusted operating margin, adjusted net earnings (loss), and adjusted net earnings (loss) per diluted share are presented as supplemental measures of the company's performance. Management believes these measures provide management and investors with additional information that is helpful when evaluating underlying performance and comparing results on a year-over-year normalized basis. These measures eliminate the impact of certain items that management does not consider indicative of underlying operating performance. These adjustments are itemized below. Adjusted net earnings (loss) per diluted share is adjusted net earnings (loss) divided by weighted average diluted shares outstanding. You are encouraged to evaluate the adjustments itemized above and the reasons management considers them appropriate for supplemental analysis. In evaluating these measures you should be aware that in the future the company may incur expenses that are the same as or similar to some of the adjustments presented below.
