Oman: Construction work in full swing at 4 new schools in Muscat worth $36mln
Muscat: Work is underway on the construction of four new schools in Muscat Governorate. The project costs a total of more than OMR14 million. The schools will have comprehensive sets of integrated facilities that serve the educational process at different grades.
Dr. Abdullah Khalfan Al Shibli, Director of Projects and Services in Muscat Governorate, said that the Ministry of Education is following up the construction of the new schools.
He pointed out that the schools will have all necessary services and facilities, including spacious classrooms, multi-purpose halls, learning centres, science and computer laboratories and administrative offices.
Speaking in detail, Al Shibli said that the first school is a 40-classroom building for boys (for grades 9-12) in the Wilayat of Al Amerat. He added that the school is being built at a cost of OMR3.6 million.
The second and third schools are coming up in the Wilayat of A'Seeb, said Al Shibli. He explained that the first is a 40-classroom school for boys (grades 9 to 12), being built at a cost of OMR3.59 million. The second is also a 40-classroom school for boys (for grades 9 to 12), being built in Hail Al Awamer at a cost of OMR3.95 million, he added.
The 4th school is being built in the Wilayat of Qurayat. It is a 36-classroom males and females school (for grades 1 to 4), being built at a cost of OMR3.6 million, Al Shibli explained.

KUWAIT CITY - The Civil Service Bureau has announced that the suspension of new expatriate teacher hires will remain in effect until the Civil Service Board approves a detailed job requirements plan and nominates qualified Kuwaiti candidates from the central employment system, in line with the Ministry of Education's needs for specific teaching specializations. In a parallel development, the Ministry of Education is preparing to terminate the contracts of 60 expatriate employees—55 teachers and five administrators, who have reached the legal limit of public service. According to informed sources, the ministry's administrative sector has completed an inventory of non-Kuwaiti staff who have served more than 34 years across various educational levels and districts, as well as the ministry's central office. The termination of expatriate teaching staff will take effect at the end of the 2024–2025 academic year, while the dismissal of administrative employees is scheduled for the end of the calendar year in December 2025. These measures are part of Kuwait's long-standing policy to replace expatriate workers with national citizens in government roles, particularly in sectors where local talent is now sufficient, such as education. The initiative is aimed at strengthening workforce nationalization and creating more employment opportunities for Kuwaitis. The Digital School Leads UAE Push for Digital Education at eLearning Africa 2025
The Digital School, an initiative under Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, took centre stage at the 18th eLearning Africa Conference in Tanzania, spotlighting the UAE's growing role in shaping digital education across the continent. As a key partner of the continent's largest digital learning forum, the Digital School led a high-level UAE delegation and signed a landmark agreement with Tanzania's Ministry of Education. The Memorandum of Understanding aims to boost cooperation in digital education and empower African youth through accessible, tech-enabled learning. Held in Dar es Salaam, the 2025 edition of eLearning Africa gathered over 1,500 participants from 80 countries, including ministers, policymakers, and global education leaders. The UAE's involvement was part of the 'Ataya' initiative's broader strategy to fund e-learning projects in Africa in collaboration with the Digital School. The conference also saw the launch of the Digital School's first regional office in Tanzania to support the SkillED Academies Project. Delivered in partnership with IIT Madras in Zanzibar and the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT), the initiative focuses on work-ready digital skills aligned with national priorities. Dr. Waleed Al Ali, Secretary-General of the Digital School, highlighted the initiative's growing recognition as a model for scalable, inclusive digital learning. 'Digital learning is no longer a luxury—it's a necessity and a bridge to dignity,' he said during the ministerial session. Saudi Arabia begins registration to provide training for one million Saudis in AI
RIYADH — The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, has invited citizens to register for the first national initiative titled "One Million Saudis in AI – SAMAI." SDAIA and the two ministries urged citizens of all ages and professional backgrounds to register for the initiative via the following link: The SAMAI initiative aims to train one million Saudi men and women in artificial intelligence (AI) as part of efforts to develop national capabilities in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. It will provide trainees with skills and knowledge in data and AI technologies, their applications and ethics, and practical training on tools needed to integrate AI into business and daily life. The initiative also aims to fulfill the leadership's vision of positioning the Kingdom as a global leader in technology and innovation, while empowering Saudi citizens in advanced technological fields. The SAMAI initiative was launched during the third Global AI Summit held in Riyadh in September 2023.
