Amazon shoppers say £38 'stylish' smartwatch is 'better than Apple'

People said that the 'very comfortable' device is quickly replacing their more expensive smartwatches Amazon shoppers have been praising an affordable smartwatch that can do almost anything a big-name brand like Apple, Fitbit, or Google can do—but for much cheaper. During a flash sale with the online retailer, shoppers can take advantage of a further discount. The Gydom Fitness Smartwatch normally sells online for £59.99 but has been cut in price to £37.98 during an Amazon offer. It is available in a range of colours - but only certain ones are discounted to this extent. Amazon shoppers looking for the best deal will be interested in the 1.8-inch version with either black or pink bands, as both have been dropped with a £22 saving. Other versions are available, such as options for a blue, green, purple or red silicone band, but these prices range from £45 to £56. Shoppers have claimed that the waterproof piece of smart tech is "better and easier than Apple" in terms of style and function. The wearable device has a range of apps and features to make life a little bit easier, such as making or answering calls without needing to pull out your smartphone and getting alerts from social media apps such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and more. The watch also comes with the Alexa voice assistant, with voice commands that can help set alarms, check the weather and control music. People wanting to monitor their fitness can take advantage of the 100+ sports programmes that record and track workouts—whether they're walking, running, cycling, or playing a game like cricket, basketball, or football—with in-depth reports on steps, distance travelled, and calories burned. The benefits don't stop when you go to bed either, as Amazon claims the watch can even track your health habits as you sleep. Wearing it overnight will "provide a detailed sleep quality analysis report." All of this is possible for days, according to Amazon, due to the "outstanding battery life" that lasts for up to a week on a single 2.5 hour charge. Similar options are available for a budget smartwatch, such as the Karrimor Smart Watch, which is £19.99 at Sports Direct, or the Reflex Active Series 23 Smart Watch, which is £39.99 at Currys. In terms of bigger brands available, the Apple Watch SE 2 (40mm) can be picked up for £219 on Amazon or the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 is available at Argos for £279. Plenty of shoppers shared praise in the reviews after buying a watch of their own. One said: "It has a breathable silicone strap which is very comfortable to wear." Another added: "Arrived quickly and very easy to set up. Been wearing a few days now and so far no issues." A third posted: "Honestly, better and easier than [an] Apple Watch once familiar with the features. Loving it [after a month of use]. But, it wasn't all glowing news from shoppers as a few did experience some issues. Someone else put: "Loads of functionality and looks great too! I use it for swimming and no issues so far." One claimed: "The app is confusing and in broken English. Difficult to navigate and update to own preferences such as goal weights. Step length also difficult to calibrate, I had completed a 5k walk and the watch only logged 200 steps. Not worth the money." Another suggested: "Very cheaply made and flimsy. It's also quite bulky so if you have small wrists like me I wouldn't recommend it. Does as its supposed to but just can tell it's a cheap watch." A third customer, leaving a one-star review, said: "Not very accurate data at all. Said I was sleeping when I was going about my day and doing 100 steps during the night when I hadn't left my bed. Doesn't consistently measure heart rate." But, most were happy with the product, as someone else wrote: "It offers is many of the functions of an Apple watch at a tenth of the price of what you might pay for the base Apple SE watch." And, one more added: "Very happy with my new watch, I bought it to replace my Fitbit sense as I'm sick of them packing in after 2 years. This watch does everything I want it to do and I love the app, it provides great information."

Amazon shoppers rush to buy hugely discounted tower fan for the heatwave – reduced from £324.99 to £69.99

It's been an incredibly hot summer so far, and this week the temperatures are soaring above 30 degrees. A good fan is an essential, and Amazon has cut the price of a bestselling model, reducing it from £324.99 to £69.99. 1 Pureborne 36" Smart Tower Fan £69.99 (was £324.99) While a bit of hot weather doesn't go amiss, many UK homes aren't built to stay cool and air con is a rarity. Whether you work from home, want to relax without overheating or struggle to sleep in the heat, an efficient fan is a smart investment. The Pureborne 36" Smart Tower Fan is now £69.99, and while Amazon is never lacking in deals, it's rare to see a discount as big as 78%. The slim design of a tower fan is ideal if you don't want to take up too much floor space, and it also means the airflow reaches a higher range so you can stay cool in bed or on the sofa. This one's 91cm tall, and has four speeds and four modes - 'normal' for a powerful airflow, 'natural' replicating an outdoor breeze, 'sleep' for during the night and 'auto'. The 1-12 hour timer is handy if you want to set intervals for while you sleep, or you can set it to come on and cool down the room before you arrive home. Another useful feature is the app connection - you can connect the fan to your phone to control it remotely, and it can also be connected to Alexa and Google for voice activation. The fan is designed to be quiet too, so you can minimise disturbance while you're working or doing chores around the house. With a perfect five-star rating so far, the Amazon fan is racking up customer reviews, and has made it onto the bestsellers list. One shopper said: ''This Pureborne tower fan is sleek and super quiet, perfect for bedrooms or offices.'' ''The remote and app control make it super convenient to adjust settings from anywhere.'' ''Great airflow and easy to use!'' Another commented: ''Quiet, Powerful, and Smart!'' While a third praised the fan, adding: ''This fan is a fantastic space saver!'' ''Not only does it save space but it is easy to use and helps to keep my home office cool.'' Alternatively, if your sleep's being affected by the heatwaves, you could see a big difference by trying out one of the best cooling pillows. Shark FlexBreeze fan review.

Constructed during the 1600s as a drovers' establishment along the pathway connecting Aberystwyth to London, The Talbot has hosted writers, politicians, travellers and social reformers. Comes with 13 ensuite guest bedrooms and owners accommodation too (Image: Fine & Country West Wales, Aberystwyth) ‌ Literally just a few steps from where Henry Richard MP was born - the Victorian era "Apostle of Peace" - this landmark property continues as Tregaron's pulse, a settlement deeply rooted in customs of tongue, territory and scholarship. The building was listed by Cadw in 1997 as 'a well-preserved coaching and drovers' inn of a scale rare in the region, and the focal building of the Square in Tregaron'. English author George Borrow stayed at The Talbot in 1854, describing it as 'a large house at the farther end of the market-place' and that prime position is one of its main selling points. Bursting with character inside (Image: Fine & Country West Wales, Aberystwyth) ‌ Presently, the establishment pays tribute to its distinguished heritage whilst providing visitors with an elegant and unforgettable stay. Behind its striking stone exterior, The Talbot is a boutique hotel that radiates warmth and subtle luxury. It boasts thirteen uniquely designed ensuite bedrooms, nine of which are premium rooms adorned with artisan finishes, exposed beams, bathrooms with underfloor heating, and timeless textures. Its restaurant, now nationally acclaimed for its excellence, offers a dining experience that is as soulful as it is sophisticated, celebrating Welsh ingredients and seasonal simplicity. There's a pub area that is popular with locals (Image: Fine & Country West Wales, Aberystwyth) ‌ The heart of the hotel is its original bar, a space brimming with character where flagstone floors, a roaring hearth, and centuries-old beams create a convivial and comforting atmosphere. A spacious function suite provides a versatile setting for weddings, events, and private gatherings, while a secluded courtyard garden offers an idyllic spot for al fresco dining or quiet contemplation beneath the region's clear, star-filled dark skies. Historic features are beautifully preserved throughout the property, from original sash windows and cellars to the rare Victorian bellboard that once summoned guests to service. The hotel also includes separate accommodation for owners and staff, making it ideally suited for either owner-occupiers or as a managed lifestyle investment. There's a restaurant as well as a bonus large events room (Image: Fine & Country West Wales, Aberystwyth) ‌ Nestled amidst natural splendour, The Talbot is situated at the base of the Elenydd hills and within strolling distance of the UNESCO-protected Cors Caron Nature Reserve - a haven of melodious bird calls, tranquil air and expansive skies. This timeless inn has become a destination in its own right, attracting walkers, cyclists, food tourists or those simply seeking serenity. Boasting a loyal clientele, an esteemed reputation, and a fully operational turnkey business model, The Talbot Hotel provides not just a home and income, but also the honour of preserving and enhancing a piece of Welsh heritage. The property also welcomes certain four-legged visitors, with a dog-friendly policy that includes three bedrooms and the bar area open to canine companions, creating a truly welcoming and homely atmosphere.
