Amazon shoppers say £38 'stylish' smartwatch is 'better than Apple'
Amazon shoppers have been praising an affordable smartwatch that can do almost anything a big-name brand like Apple, Fitbit, or Google can do—but for much cheaper. During a flash sale with the online retailer, shoppers can take advantage of a further discount.
The Gydom Fitness Smartwatch normally sells online for £59.99 but has been cut in price to £37.98 during an Amazon offer. It is available in a range of colours - but only certain ones are discounted to this extent.
Amazon shoppers looking for the best deal will be interested in the 1.8-inch version with either black or pink bands, as both have been dropped with a £22 saving. Other versions are available, such as options for a blue, green, purple or red silicone band, but these prices range from £45 to £56.
Shoppers have claimed that the waterproof piece of smart tech is "better and easier than Apple" in terms of style and function. The wearable device has a range of apps and features to make life a little bit easier, such as making or answering calls without needing to pull out your smartphone and getting alerts from social media apps such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and more.
The watch also comes with the Alexa voice assistant, with voice commands that can help set alarms, check the weather and control music. People wanting to monitor their fitness can take advantage of the 100+ sports programmes that record and track workouts—whether they're walking, running, cycling, or playing a game like cricket, basketball, or football—with in-depth reports on steps, distance travelled, and calories burned.
The benefits don't stop when you go to bed either, as Amazon claims the watch can even track your health habits as you sleep. Wearing it overnight will "provide a detailed sleep quality analysis report." All of this is possible for days, according to Amazon, due to the "outstanding battery life" that lasts for up to a week on a single 2.5 hour charge.
Similar options are available for a budget smartwatch, such as the Karrimor Smart Watch, which is £19.99 at Sports Direct, or the Reflex Active Series 23 Smart Watch, which is £39.99 at Currys. In terms of bigger brands available, the Apple Watch SE 2 (40mm) can be picked up for £219 on Amazon or the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 is available at Argos for £279.
Plenty of shoppers shared praise in the reviews after buying a watch of their own. One said: "It has a breathable silicone strap which is very comfortable to wear." Another added: "Arrived quickly and very easy to set up. Been wearing a few days now and so far no issues."
A third posted: "Honestly, better and easier than [an] Apple Watch once familiar with the features. Loving it [after a month of use]. But, it wasn't all glowing news from shoppers as a few did experience some issues. Someone else put: "Loads of functionality and looks great too! I use it for swimming and no issues so far."
One claimed: "The app is confusing and in broken English. Difficult to navigate and update to own preferences such as goal weights. Step length also difficult to calibrate, I had completed a 5k walk and the watch only logged 200 steps. Not worth the money."
Another suggested: "Very cheaply made and flimsy. It's also quite bulky so if you have small wrists like me I wouldn't recommend it. Does as its supposed to but just can tell it's a cheap watch."
A third customer, leaving a one-star review, said: "Not very accurate data at all. Said I was sleeping when I was going about my day and doing 100 steps during the night when I hadn't left my bed. Doesn't consistently measure heart rate."
But, most were happy with the product, as someone else wrote: "It offers is many of the functions of an Apple watch at a tenth of the price of what you might pay for the base Apple SE watch."
And, one more added: "Very happy with my new watch, I bought it to replace my Fitbit sense as I'm sick of them packing in after 2 years. This watch does everything I want it to do and I love the app, it provides great information."

iOS 26 Beta 6: Is This The Fastest Beta Ever?
iOS 26 Beta 6 delivers a notable upgrade in performance and usability, setting a higher benchmark for mobile operating systems. With a focus on speed, efficiency, and optimization, this update introduces a smaller file size alongside several enhancements and adjustments. While it doesn't overhaul the system entirely, it refines key aspects to improve the overall user experience. Below is a detailed look at what this update offers in a new video from Daniel About Tech. Watch this video on YouTube. Performance Enhancements: Faster and More Responsive One of the standout improvements in iOS 26 Beta 6 is its enhanced system performance. App launches are faster, transitions are smoother, and loading times have been significantly reduced. Apple has fine-tuned system animations, making sure interactions feel fluid and seamless. These changes go beyond aesthetics—benchmark tests, such as Geekbench scores, reveal measurable gains in both processing power and efficiency compared to Beta 5. Whether you're multitasking between apps or running resource-intensive software, the system feels noticeably faster and more responsive. This improvement is particularly beneficial for users who rely on their devices for productivity or gaming, as it ensures a smoother and more reliable experience. Smoother Animations for a Polished Experience System animations have been redesigned to create a more polished and intuitive interface. Transitions between apps, menus, and screens are now smoother, enhancing the overall user experience. While these refinements may seem subtle, they significantly improve the way you interact with your device. Every action, from opening an app to switching between tasks, feels effortless and natural. These animation updates reflect Apple's commitment to delivering a refined and cohesive user experience. By focusing on these details, iOS 26 Beta 6 ensures that even routine interactions feel more engaging and satisfying. Streamlined VPN Accessibility Managing VPN connections has been simplified with the introduction of a dedicated VPN toggle in the Settings app. This new feature allows you to access and control your VPN settings directly, without navigating through multiple menus. For users who depend on VPNs for enhanced security or accessing region-specific content, this addition streamlines the process and improves usability. The dedicated VPN section not only saves time but also makes it easier to switch between VPN profiles or adjust settings on the go. This enhancement underscores Apple's focus on practicality and user convenience, catering to both casual and advanced users. New Ringtones for Personalization iOS 26 Beta 6 introduces six new variations of the default 'Reflection' ringtone, offering more options for personalizing your device's sound profile. While this update doesn't drastically change the user experience, it adds a layer of customization that many users will appreciate. These new ringtones provide subtle yet meaningful ways to make your device feel more personal. Whether you prefer a softer tone or a more vibrant sound, the expanded selection ensures there's something for everyone. Smaller Update Size and Storage Optimization A practical highlight of iOS 26 Beta 6 is its reduced update size. At just 3.96 GB, it is significantly smaller than its predecessor, which was nearly 11 GB. This reduction not only saves storage space but also reflects Apple's efforts to optimize system resources. The smaller update size ensures that even devices with limited storage capacity can install and run the update efficiently. Additionally, this optimization contributes to faster download and installation times, making the update process more convenient for users. Camera Mode Adjustment Removed Apple has made a controversial change by removing the ability to change the direction of mode selection in the Camera app. While this adjustment simplifies the interface for some users, it may feel restrictive to those who valued the flexibility of the previous design. This change highlights Apple's ongoing effort to balance simplicity with functionality, though it may not appeal to everyone. For users who frequently switch between camera modes, this adjustment could require some time to adapt. Refining the iOS Experience iOS 26 Beta 6 represents a thoughtful update that prioritizes performance, efficiency, and usability. Faster app launches, smoother animations, and improved responsiveness create a more seamless user experience. The addition of a VPN toggle and new ringtone options enhances both practicality and personalization, while the reduced update size demonstrates Apple's commitment to optimizing storage and system resources. Although the removal of the Camera mode adjustment feature may divide opinions, this update showcases how incremental changes can lead to meaningful improvements. For users seeking a faster, more refined operating system, iOS 26 Beta 6 sets a high standard for future updates.
