WNBA Legend Rebecca Lobo Names Her Favorite All-Star Moment Without Hesitation
For Rebecca Lobo, the best part of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend wasn't a highlight-reel play or a buzzer-beating shot. It was something more meaningful.
'My favorite part of All-Star weekend was the way the vets looked out for the rookies,' the Hall of Famer said. 'Sabrina splitting her 3-point contest winnings with Sonia Citron, Stewie passing the ball to Kiki Iriafen (on the opposing team) for a late 3. They looked out for the rooks, and I loved it.'
Lobo's comment came in the wake of one of the most memorable WNBA All-Star Weekends in recent memory, highlighted by Sabrina Ionescu's redemption performance in the 3-point contest.
After falling short to Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry during the 2024 NBA-WNBA crossover shootout in Indianapolis, Ionescu returned to the same city and dominated the field to claim her second WNBA 3-point title.
She dropped 30 points in the final round to beat the Atlanta Dream's Allisha Gray, becoming only the second player in league history to win the contest more than once (Allie Quigley, 4).
But what really won over fans, and Lobo, was what Ionescu did after the contest. True to a promise she made while sitting on the bench, Ionescu pledged to give half her prize money to rookie Citron, 21, who bravely competed in the contest as the youngest participant.
'I told Sonia that I would give her half if I won,' Ionescu said. 'It takes a lot of courage to do that as a rookie, and I was really proud of her.'
Thanks to that promise, Citron walked away $31,000 richer.
For Lobo, that act of generosity and mentorship perfectly captured what All-Star Weekend is all about: veterans lifting the next generation.

FA guard Dalton Risner could visit Steelers before making decision on contract
Free agent guard and former second-round pick Dalton Risner is preparing to sign with a team ahead of the start of the 2025 regular season. According to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, Risner has visited with the Cincinnati Bengals, will meet with the Seattle Seahawks, and, according to Fowler, could visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers as well before making a decision. Risner is a talented interior offensive lineman with tremendous experience. Risner is in his seventh NFL season and, after spending his first four seasons with the Denver Broncos and the next two with the Seattle Seahawks, has 81 career starts in 87 games. If Risner is considering the Steelers and the Steelers are interested in Risner, it would be because Isaac Seumalo's injury is worse than being reported. Seumalo did some work at practice on Tuesday but has been out for much of training camp with what has been reported as a back injury. Pittsburgh has been shuffling interior offensive line depth in hopes of putting together a solid depth chart. Right now, if Seumalo can't go in Week One of the regular season, it would come down to Max Scharping or Andrus Peat to get the start. Steelers in 'consideration' for standout free agent visit, per report
Steelers fans rejoice, one of the best free agent offensive linemen may be on his way to Pittsburgh. On Tuesday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that G Dalton Risner, who just finished a workout for the Bengals, is considering the Steelers for a potential visit as he decides on his future landing spot. "Free agent guard Dalton Risner, who worked out for the Bengals today, will also visit the Seahawks, per source. Visiting the Steelers also a consideration," Fowler wrote on X. "Wants to take multiple visits before making a decision." Selected by the Broncos with the 41st overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Risner wasted little time making an impact and was named to the PFWA NFL All-Rookie Team in his debut season — which featured a talented ensemble of players such as DE Nick Bosa, DT Dexter Lawrence, RB Josh Jacobs, and more. Risner has 81 games of starting experience from his time with the Broncos and Vikings. At best, he would challenge the Steelers' guards for a starting spot — and at worst, he'd serve as arguably one of the league's best backups.
