Child critically injured in suspected OVI crash Tuesday night

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A 5-year-old child is hospitalized in critical condition after a suspected OVI crash at the intersection of South Main and East Stewart streets. According to the Dayton Police Department, crews were dispatched to an injury crash around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3. Police say their initial investigation found that a Ford F-150 Tremor was heading south on Main Street. Officials said the driver ran a red light and then crashed into the rear driver's side of a Honda Odyssey heading east on Stewart Street. Officials said the F-150 then crashed into a Toyota RAV4, which was approaching the stoplight north on Main Street. Man injured in shooting at DeSoto Bass apartments on Monday The Odyssey had two occupants besides the driver: a 9-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl. All were taken by medics to nearby hospitals. As of Wednesday, the girl is currently in critical condition. The other two people have non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the F-150 was the only person in the vehicle and wasn't taken to a hospital. None of the three people in the RAV4 were hospitalized. Officials suspect the cause of the crash is OVI. Detectives from the Dayton Police Department's Traffic Services Unit are actively investigating the crash. 2 NEWS will update this article when more information is available.
