AEG Hosts HBCU Interns at L.A. LIVE During HBCU in LA Summit Week
As part of the Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program's (EICOP) HBCU in LA Summit Week, AEG, the leading sports and live entertainment company, hosted more than 40 interns from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) at its L.A. LIVE campus on May 30, 2025.
The event brought industry talent and executives from AEG and across the entertainment sector together and offered students a chance to participate in panel discussions, mentoring sessions and learn first-hand about jobs in the sports and live event industry.
The day kicked off with a behind-the-scenes tour of Crypto.com Arena, the L.A. LIVE campus and the GRAMMY Museum. The students then had a chance to speak one-on- one with industry professionals over lunch, including executives from various AEG business units such as Goldenvoice, AEG Presents, AXS, and Crypto.com Arena. The networking lunch was organized by AEG's employee network group Black Equity@AEG.
Following lunch, AEG President and CEO, Dan Beckerman spoke to the students about today's increasingly complex workforce needs, and why developing early talent from a variety of institutions is essential for operational and strategic success.
Students also participated in a fireside chat moderated by Stacy Milner, EICOP Founder and CEO, and Debra Lee, Chairman and CEO of BET, at Crypto.com Arena's Lexus Club. During the conversation, Lee shared her perspective on leadership, breaking barriers, and shaping the future of media.
'Hosting the HBCU LA event is about giving students exposure and access—two key components that can make all the difference in their careers,' said April Barfield, Sr. Manager – University Relations at AEG. 'It's not only important that these talented students learn about the live event industry but that our workforce also reflects the communities we serve.'

Jared Leto Faces Sexual Misconduct Allegations From Several Women
Actor Jared Leto has been a Hollywood celebrity for decades. With so many notable roles under his belt, including several divisive endeavors including the Joker in Suicide Squad and the titular character in Morbius , he has become a household name. Now Jared Leto is facing sexual misconduct allegations from several different women. The allegations were shared by a total of nine women via Air Mail. The outlet not only alleges that these nine women were treated inappropriately by Leto, but that he also made advances towards some of them when they were minors. Ages of the women during these alleged encounters were said to be 16 and 17. 'It's been an open secret for a long time,' one of the women stated while remaining anonymous. The outlet includes such allegations as a woman saying she was asked sexual questions by Leto at 16-years-old, another woman saying he walked out of a room nude in front of her when she was 17-years-old, and that he exposed himself and masturbated before placing an 18-year-old girl's hand 'on him.' In response to the claims, a representative for Leto 'expressly' denied them. They responded to some of the specific allegations made by model Laura La Rue, who would have been 16 in 2008, who also claims to have met Leto at an animal rights benefit before connecting via email and eventually she met him at his studio in April 2009. There she says he was 'flirting' with her. Leto's representative insisted that their 'communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate' and that La Rue 'later applied to work as Mr. Leto's personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions.' Meanwhile, La Rue denies ever applying for that position and alleges that she was the 17-year-old who saw him walk out of a room nude 'like it was normal.' She added: 'I thought maybe this was just what adult men do.' Another woman claimed to have received a phone call from the Tron: Ares actor when she was 16 in 2008, having given him her number after he approached her at Urth Caffé in Los Angeles, and that he eventually called her with the 'weirdest, grossest voice.' She claims to not 'know if he was on drugs.' In response, Leto's representative responded to say that Leto 'has not had a drink or used drugs in over 35 years.' The woman further elaborated how the alleged phone calls from Leto continued for the next three weeks, with her mother claiming to have also overheard one of the calls. Here's what the woman said: 'And the conversations turned sexual,' she claimed. 'He'd ask things like, 'Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever sucked a d—?' ' She added: 'He changed — his voice, the way he talked. It scared me. That was the first time I thought, 'Oh my God, that's not just in movies.' ' Leto's representative continued to deny these allegations, with Nightlife promoter Brent Bolthouse also claiming that he never saw skinny-dipping at Leto's house, a location that one of the allegations referenced as having a party with girls younger than 18 that were being motivated to skinny dip. As such, we'll have to see how this situation continues to develop. For now, Leto's representatives are adamant about their denials. Legendary MTV & BET star Ananda Lewis passes away
The post Legendary MTV & BET star Ananda Lewis passes away appeared first on ClutchPoints. Ananda Lewis, HBCU alumna and legendary television host, has tragically passed away at the age of 52. The news was broken on Wednesday evening by Lewis's sister Lakshmi in a social media post. 'She's free, and in His heavenly arms. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 Lord, rest her soul🙏🏽,' she posted. Lewis graduated cum laude from Howard University in 1995 with a degree in history. During her time at Howard, she appeared in the music video for 'Baby, I'm Yours,' a hit R&B song by Shai, fellow Howard alumni. Filmed on campus in 1993, she played the love interest of vocalist Carl 'Groove' Martin. Following her HBCU experience, she became the host of BET's Teen Summit, in which she appeared on the program for three seasons. She ultimately got the call to become a VJ for MTV, hosting shows such as Total Request Live and Hot Zone. She also hosted her own eponymous talk show In a 2020 Instagram post, Lewis disclosed her diagnosis of stage III breast cancer, explaining that she had avoided regular mammograms due to a fear of radiation. By October 2024, during a roundtable discussion with CNN's Stephanie Elam (a longtime college friend) and CNN anchor Sara Sidner Lewis revealed she had chosen not to follow medical advice to undergo a double mastectomy. Unfortunately, her cancer had metastasized and progressed to stage IV, as she shared during the discussion. She also noted that she had pursued homeopathic treatments during her journey. 'My plan at first was to get out excessive toxins in my body. I felt like my body is intelligent, I know that to be true. Our bodies are brilliantly made. I decided to keep my tumor and try to work it out of my body a different way. . . . I wish I could go back. It's important for me to admit where I went wrong with this,' she said. She eventually wrote an essay in Essence in January 2025 urging women to take preventative measures and to listen to their bodies. 'We're not meant to stay here forever. We come to this life, have experiences — and then we go,' she wrote. 'Being real about that with yourself changes how you choose to live. I don't want to spend one more minute than I have to suffering unnecessarily. That, for me, is not the quality of life I'm interested in. When it's time for me to go, I want to be able to look back on my life and say, 'I did that exactly how I wanted to.''
