Yemen to alert UN of states preparing to aid Israel

Shafaq News7 hours ago

Shafaq News/ Yemen's Supreme Political Council President Mahdi al-Mashat announced plans to notify the United Nations of observed preparations by some countries to assist Israel in its military campaign against Iran.
In remarks to Yemen News Agency (SABA) on Saturday, al-Mashat stressed that his country's decision is rooted in humanitarian, religious, and legal principles, calling on Arab and Islamic nations to 'take a unified stand instead of waiting to be targeted one by one.'
'The flames of war will eventually reach every corner of the region if we don't act together to stop the campaign of domination led by arrogant powers.'
Reiterating Yemen's position on US involvement, al-Mashat confirmed that Washington would gain nothing by joining Israel's assault except what he described as a deeper entanglement in the conflict. 'Everyone will see that clearly,' he said.
He further warned that any actor complicit in the Israeli attack must bear the consequences, revealing plans to direct the Foreign Ministry to notify the United Nations of observed preparations by some member states to assist in the aggression against Iran.
'Yemen will confront any such involvement through all legitimate means.'
Earlier Saturday, Yemen's Ansarallah (Houthis) threatened to strike US naval vessels in the Red Sea if Washington supports Tel Aviv, accusing both the US and Israel of pursuing regional domination under coordinated efforts.
The warning comes as Israel's Operation Rising Lion continues to target Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing senior IRGC commanders and nuclear scientists, while Iran's response—True Promise 3—has so far unleashed 18 waves of missile and drone attacks across Israeli territory.

Iraqi Militia Leader Qais Al-Khazali Condemns Threats To Khamenei, Warns Of Regional Instability, Urges International Action

On June 20, 2025, Qais Al-Khazali, the secretary-general of the Iran-backed Asa'ib Ahl Al-Haqq militia in Iraq, issued a statement in which he affirmed his group's solidary with Iran's actions against Israel, and denounced alleged Israeli threats against high-ranking Shi'ite leaders.[1] With a Quranic verse, Qais Al-Khazali opens his statement: "Do they not know that whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger will be in the Fire of Hell forever? That is the ultimate disgrace. Al-Tawba [63-69]" In the context of what he refers to as a "treacherous Zionist assault" and the Iranian "heroic resistance," Al-Khazali claims that the regions' enemies have now crossed every limit—religious, humane, and international–when they renewed threats to the life of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Al-Husseini Khamenei. Central to his condemnation, Al-Khazali argues that these threats are not unprecedented but echo prior incitements—most notably, the public dissemination of a targeted image of Iraq's prominent Shi'ite religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani. The secretary-general states that while such rhetoric is not surprising coming from what he labels "criminal players," the gravity of this offense cannot be overlooked. Thus, he warns that threatening the most revered Shi'ite authorities is more than a political act—"it is a direct attack on sacred figures and institutions, and it carries consequences that may extend far beyond the immediate moment." According to him, this constitutes a serious threat to both regional and global stability. The statement expresses full alignment with Iran and its right to carry out what Al-Khazali describes as "effective deterrence" in the face of aggression. Meanwhile, he calls on the international community—governments, organizations, and world leaders—to intervene immediately. The silence or inaction of global powers, he suggests, will only encourage more violations and increase the likelihood of a broader conflict.

Yemen's Ansar Allah (Houthi) Movement Threatens To Target U.S. Warships If Iran Is Attacked, Reaffirms Support For Gaza, Pledges Defense Of Any Nation Facing 'Israeli Aggression,' Warns Against Allege

On June 21, 2025, Yemen's Ansar Allah (Houthi) Movement's armed forces issued a statement reaffirming the group's firm and principled stance in rejecting the "Zionist aggression" against the people of Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and any Arab or Islamic country subjected to Israeli attacks.[1] The statement, released on the Telegram channel of armed forces spokesman Brig.-Gen. Yahya Sare'e, emphasized that the conflict has expanded to include Israeli aggression against Iran, following its "ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people, its acts of genocide, and its continued assaults on the Lebanese and Syrian peoples, as well as its war against Yemen." The Houthis called Israel's latest actions "full-scale aggression" against Iran as part of a broader plan to reshape the Middle East and dominate the entire region. Accusing Israel of working toward this goal with full, active U.S. partnership and support, the Houthis went on to claim that its main objective is to eliminate Iran from the regional equation, since it is considered the "greatest obstacle to Israel's expansionist ambitions." The group issued a clear threat: "If the United States becomes involved in any aggression against Iran in support of Israel, the Yemeni Armed Forces will target American ships and warships in the Red Sea." Declaring that this battle is for the entire nation and that salvation, honor, and victory lie in taking action and engaging in jihad for the sake of Allah, the Houthi armed forces went on to quote Quranic verses, framing their response to the alleged Israeli-American aggression as a divine responsibility and moral imperative. After affirming their readiness to stand alongside any Arab or Islamic country subjected to "Zionist aggression" or that chooses to confront Israel in self-defense or in support of Palestinian resistance fighters, the Houthis also declared their unwavering commitment to the people of Gaza, pledging not to abandon them or allow the Israeli-American project to succeed in the region. The statement concluded with religious invocations and nationalistic slogans, affirming trust in Allah, loyalty to Yemen's sovereignty and independence, and solidarity with all free people of the Muslim nation.

Syrian aviation authority blocks AANES move on Qamishli Airport

Shafaq News/ On Saturday evening, the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) issued a statement rejecting the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria's (AANES) recent decision to establish a new authority for managing Qamishli International Airport. The SCAA stressed that the closure is binding on all local and international aviation entities, adding that it is the sole legally authorized body to manage airports and oversee air traffic within Syrian airspace. It further warned that any attempt to operate or utilize the airport without coordination with Damascus constitutes a violation of international aviation regulations. On June 19, the Executive Council of the AANES issued a decree establishing a general administration for Qamishli Airport, claiming authority over its operations. The council declared the move effective immediately and called on relevant parties to adhere to the new structure. Qamishli Airport has remained closed to civilian flights since the fall of the Al-Assad regime late last year. Since then, only Russian military aircraft have used the facility. Government institutions such as civil courts, population registries, and directorates of civil affairs, immigration, and passports also remain inactive in AANES-held areas, raising the risk of further administrative and political escalation.
