New Delhi, Jun 21 (PTI) India Inc leaders on Saturday gave a clarion call to make yoga a part of lifestyle, asserting that the 'precious gift from India' provides path of pure discipline, resilience, and endless self-discovery.
She further wrote, 'The most profound? How deeply our breath is tied to our emotions. It's a game-changer: learn to control your breath, and you'll find you can navigate your emotional world. This path is pure discipline, resilience, and endless self-discovery. Happy Yoga Day!' Similarly, Jindal Steel and Power Chairman Naveen Jindal said, 'Yoga is a precious gift from India – it is a discipline, a practice, and a way of life. Let's make yoga our lifestyle.' Jindal, who is also a BJP Member of Parliament, said he did yoga in an event with yoga guru Ramdev, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Minister Nayab Saini, Health Minister Arti Singh Rao and former minister Subhash Sudha along 'with thousands of people on the sacred land of Brahmasarovar in the holy city of Kurukshetra and gave the message of spiritual peace and health'.
Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) Chairman & Managing Director, Pradip Kumar Das along with IREDA Director (Finance) Bijay Kumar Mohanty took part in the celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga at Sunder Nursery here in the capital.
Senior government officials, including Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy; Nidhi Khare, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs and Sanjeev Chopra, Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution also attended the event.
Coal India arm Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) said it organised large-scale celebrations across its operational areas, in line with this year's global theme: 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' and the national motto 'Yog Se Yogya'.
Over 1,500 participants, including employees, villagers, and stakeholders, gathered for a collective yoga session at Piparwar area of Jharkhand, it said.
Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs; and Minister of Power, Manohar Lal led a special yoga session at Jantar Mantar in which ministry officials also took part, promoting India's rich cultural heritage and underscoring the harmony between tradition and wellness. PTI TEAM RKL HVA

Allahabad HC stays fee hike for MBBS course by Hapur medical college
Agency: PTI Prayagraj, Aug 14 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court has stayed an increase in fee for the MBBS course by the GS Medical College in Hapur, and directed the state government and the college to file their reply within two weeks. The order was passed by Justice C D Singh on August 13 while hearing a petition filed by Aanya Porwal and 239 other MBBS students. The fee was increased mid-semester from Rs 11 lakh to 14 lakh. The counsel for the petitioners claimed the notification issued on July 5 by the state government was 'arbitrary" and 'without application of mind". The government, while issuing the aforesaid notification, failed to consider the other miscellaneous charges, which have already been enhanced during this session, the counsel argued. He said there was no reason to increase the fee for a second time in eight months, particularly when miscellaneous charges had already been deposited by the petitioners. The government's counsel submitted that it (fee hike) was done in accordance with the law, and there was no illegality or error in the impugned notification, saying the instant writ petition may be dismissed as devoid of any merit. The court said, 'Taking into consideration the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioners as well as the learned counsel for the respondent and the contents made in the writ petition, I am of the view that matter requires consideration." The court directed to put up the case on September 17, and till then the operation of the impugned notification dated July 5 shall be kept in abeyance. Public health service, nurses' union condemn attacks on Indians in Ireland
London, Aug 14 (PTI) Ireland's Health Service Executive and the largest nurses' union have spoken out against the 'racist abuse and assaults" targeting members of the Indian community and cautioned that their exodus would have a 'dramatic impact" on the healthcare sector. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Health Service Executive (HSE) said that the effective operation of many essential health services in Ireland would be seriously threatened without the support of the many thousands of international staff that work in the country's hospitals and community services. According to the Irish public health service provider, healthcare professionals from India, Africa and other Asian countries account for 23 per cent of HSE nurses and midwives. 'The HSE unequivocally condemns all incidents of racist abuse and assaults of people from abroad, their families and the wider community. It is unacceptable. People should not be afraid to leave their house or go to work for fear of abuse," said Anne Marie Hoey, Chief People Officer of the HSE. 'We are proud of our organisation's diversity and are dependent on all our staff for the delivery of frontline, essential services… We are deeply grateful to international workers who have chosen to move their lives and families to Ireland to work with the HSE and help provide essential care and support for patients," she said. Hoey said the HSE was 'saddened" to hear reports that some international staff, now fearful for their personal safety, are considering moving away. 'This will have a dramatic impact on staff levels and the provision of health services and should be a cause for alarm for people in this country," she said. The intervention came after a spate of violent assaults on Indians in the capital Dublin and other regions have been reported to the Irish police force, An Garda Síochána. Last week, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) condemned the 'racially motivated abuse" of its workers and called for robust action against the perpetrators. 'Recent horrific attacks on members of the Indian community in Ireland should be condemned. There must be a robust policing response to racially motivated abuse and attacks. We do not want Ireland to be a place where nurses and midwives are afraid to work," said INMO Deputy General Secretary Edward Mathews. 'Providing more robust protections would go a long way to making internationally educated nurses and midwives feel safe. Everyone should have the right to work in an environment free from abuse or harassment of any kind, and to feel safe in their community," he said. He also referenced the safety advisory issued earlier this month by the Indian Embassy in Dublin, calling on its nationals to take 'reasonable precautions for their personal security and avoid deserted areas, especially at odd hours". Mathews added: 'In broader terms, as a society, it has never been more important to reject racism. Hateful rhetoric and violent attacks must not become the norm." 'It is unacceptable that consular services in Ireland feel the need to issue advisories about travel and personal security at unsocial hours. This should raise alarm bells, this is not the type of country we want to be." Earlier this week, Irish President Michael D Higgins condemned the 'despicable attacks", which he said obscured the 'immeasurable benefits" the people of India have brought to the life of the country. Perception of border villages as last villages has transformed: Nadda
New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Thursday said the perception of border villages as the last villages of the country has transformed in recent years, with a new vision of recognising them as the first villages of the nation and developing them into vibrant hubs. He made the remarks as he chaired a courtesy meeting with representatives from villages of five states and Union Territories (UTs) — Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Ladakh — covered under the Phase-I of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP). Nadda informed that 662 border villages have been identified under Phase-1 of the programme. He highlighted that the Union Health Ministry has endeavoured to establish at least one Ayushman Arogya Mandir for every 1,000-1,500 people in these areas, complemented by mobile medical units to ensure healthcare access for all. The VVP was launched on April 10, 2023 by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for identified villages of strategic importance in blocks abutting the northern border in mission mode, to improve the quality of life of people living in the identified border villages. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Nadda said, 'The perception of border villages as the last villages of the country has transformed in recent years, with a new vision of recognising them as the first villages of the nation and developing them into vibrant hubs." He emphasised that women's and youth empowerment has been a central focus of this initiative, with training and skill development programmes aimed at fostering entrepreneurship in areas such as horticulture and floriculture. These efforts, he said, are designed to encourage reverse migration and stimulate the growth of these remote regions. Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava underlined that the Vibrant Villages Programme is a key initiative of the Government of India. She reaffirmed the Union Health Ministry's commitment to delivering healthcare services to every corner of the country, noting that '58 projects have already been sanctioned under the National Health Mission, and mobile medical units are being deployed in the border villages." Village representatives from five states expressed their gratitude to the Union government for advancing the development of their villages and for inviting them to Delhi on the occasion of Independence Day. They noted significant improvements in road connectivity and healthcare facilities under the scheme, and urged the Government to extend the initiative to additional villages not covered in Phase-1.
