Naveen Jindal's Humanitarian Initiative -- 20,000+ Jindal Steel Employees to Donate One Day's Salary for the Rehabilitation of Border Villages
Jindal Steel & Power Limited New Delhi [India], May 20: The historic success of Operation Sindoor under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has filled the nation with pride. Yet, it has also left thousands of civilians in Jammu and Kashmir's border areas facing a grave humanitarian crisis. In the wake of Pakistan's brutal attack, many innocent lives were lost, and villages were reduced to rubble. In this time of adversity, Shri Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel and the Member of Parliament (Loksabha) from Kurukshetra, has taken a compassionate and resolute step to come forward to support the rehabilitation of affected families in the border regions. As part of this initiative, Shri Jindal has announced a financial contribution towards relief and rehabilitation efforts. Significantly, over 20,000 employees of the Jindal Steel & Power have voluntarily pledged to donate one day's salary, transforming this act from an individual gesture into a unified national commitment. Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Jindal said, 'The citizens living along our borders are no less than soldiers. Their courage, resilience, and sacrifice inspire us all. Now, when they are in distress, it becomes our moral and national duty to stand with them. I urge every Indian and every institution to contribute to this noble cause.' It is noteworthy that following the heinous killing of innocent civilians in an April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, India launched Operation Sindoor -- a decisive military strike on terror camps across the border. In response, Pakistan targeted Indian border villages with heavy shelling, leading to displacement and destruction. This act of support by Jindal Steel is not unprecedented. The company has a legacy of stepping up in times of national crises -- from ensuring oxygen supply and free meals during the COVID-19 pandemic to contributing Rs25 crore to the PM CARES Fund, and offering timely aid during the 2013 Uttarakhand floods. Naveen Jindal's initiative reflects his deep-rooted sense of responsibility toward the nation and its people. It sends a powerful message of solidarity to our fellow citizens in the border regions: they are not alone in this hour of need. The collective resolve of the Jindal Steel family is not only a concrete step toward rehabilitation, but also a reaffirmation of the spirit of national service -- a spirit that forms the foundation of a strong and united India. KURUKSHETRA : Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal said that Kurukshetra is now sending out a powerful global message of natural farming . Speaking at the inauguration of a three-day Agro-Tech Exhibition and Startup Conclave at Kurukshetra University on Friday, Jindal highlighted the Centre government's commitment to sustainable agriculture through the National Mission on Natural Farming, which has launched a Rs 2,481 crore initiative to promote natural farming across India. Jindal emphasized that the momentum behind natural farming is being strengthened by the efforts of Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Padma Shri awardee Hariom. He stressed that the transformation of agriculture depends on the passion and willpower of farmers. 'Agriculture is not just a means of livelihood—it is the backbone of our society and nation. A skilled and prosperous India will emerge only when our farmers thrive,' he said. 'Mistakes made due to chemical farming should not be repeated. This is the time to shift toward sustainable models and make agriculture a fashion, a pride,' he said. In his speech, Jindal also highlighted future plans to organize seminars for livestock owners and the youth, focusing on indigenous cattle breeds and startup opportunities in agriculture. He said, 'Everyone from farmers to herders to young entrepreneurs must be part of this movement. Government schemes are in place, but their true success lies in proper implementation.' On the national front, Jindal voiced strong support for India's leadership and armed forces. 'We take pride in our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and our brave soldiers,' he said. Referring to the recent attack on unarmed civilians in Pahalgam by 'Pakistan-backed terrorists', he stated firmly that the country will not remain silent and that every loss of life will be accounted for. Padma Shri Hariom, who also spoke at the event, revealed alarming findings from a scientific study conducted by 12 Indian researchers. According to the report, 75% of India's food security depends on wheat and rice, yet the nutrient content of these crops has declined by 45% since the 1970s. If current trends continue, both crops could become unfit for consumption within 15 years. The study also flagged increasing contamination of groundwater with nitrates and chlorides in 21 districts of Haryana, he said. Hariom warned that the time to act is now. 'Farmers must undergo training to adopt natural farming, which ensures nutrient balance and soil regeneration. We owe it to our future generations to pass on the same fertile land that our ancestors entrusted to us.' The event saw participation from several dignitaries, including Pundri MLA Satpal Jamba, BJP district president Tejinder Singh Goldy, BJP leader Subhash Kalsana, Agriculture Deputy Director Karamchand, zila parishad Chairperson Kanwaljit Kaur, Thanesar MC chairperson Mafee Dhanda, former MLA Tejveer Singh, and other local leaders and officials.
