NY Red Bulls vs Inter Miami — What to expect from Messi and Co. in their next MLS game?
Miami (11-4-5, 38 points) is coming off a lopsided 0-3 loss at Cincinnati on Wednesday, which snapped a five-game winning streak and six-game unbeaten stretch in league action.
Lionel Messi, who is expected to play against the Red Bulls (9-8-6, 33 points), saw the end of his Major League Soccer-record streak of five matches scoring multiple goals.
Miami, which will play its ninth match in a span of 36 days on Saturday, also announced on Friday that starting goalkeeper Oscar Ustari will not play against the Red Bulls.
Ustari exited Wednesday's game in the 25th minute with what looked like an injury to his left side. Rocco Rios Novo replaced him and surrendered a pair of second-half goals.
It's unclear how long Ustari will be out, but coach Javier Mascherano hinted it could be at least a few days.
'I wouldn't be able to say how long he'll be out. The doctors can probably say better as the next few days play themselves out,' Mascherano said. 'Hopefully, it's not a long absence.'

New York wrestled away three points from the New England Revolution on Wednesday with an impressive second-half comeback. The Red Bulls scored five goals between the 56th and 88th minutes to erase an early 2-0 deficit and prevail 5-3.
'I mean, five goals in the second half is crazy, something that doesn't happen for us often,' said Daniel Edelman, who scored the first of those goals. 'It was good to see that we wanted more. We wanted to get that third, fourth, fifth.'
Emil Forsberg and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting followed Edelman's goal by scoring two apiece to fuel the comeback.
The Red Bulls, who lost 4-1 to Inter Miami in their first meeting in South Florida on May 3, are on a seven-game unbeaten streak at home stretching back to a loss to D.C. United on April 19.
Cameron Harper (knee), Lewis Morgan (thigh) and Serge Ngoma (thigh) aren't likely to play against Miami, which figures to be without Ian Fray (adductor), Baltasar Rodriguez (hamstring) and goalkeeper Drake Callender (hernia).
The Red Bulls sit in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Kerala govt's commercial partner threatens legal action if Lionel Messi-led Argentina skip October tour
The Kerala Government's commercial could be forced to take legal action if Lionel Messi and the Argentina football team do not turn up to play in India in October or November this year. read more The Kerala Government's commercial partner- the Reporter Broadcasting Company- for bringing the Argentina football team, along with globally recognised star , to the state, has made it known that it would be forced to explore legal action if the world champions do not turn up to play in India in October or November. The company has confirmed that it had paid the full amount of ₹130 crore to the Argentine Football Association (AFA) on June 6 this year as per the agreement signed in December 2024. The reporter further informed that the AFA aims to defer the team's visit to India to September 2026. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'As per the agreement, we had sent the full amount and they (AFA) also acknowledged it. But after five days, we received an email asking whether we are okay with having the match in September 2026." Anto Augustine, managing director of Reporter was quoted as saying by Onmanorama. More from Football Postponement could trigger massive financial loss Given that the FIFA World Cup is scheduled to begin in June next year, and they could lose the world champion tag, Augustine has strongly opposed the proposal of the AFA, stating that it would be a violation of the agreement. 'That violates the terms of the agreement we have with the AFA. We are not okay with it. As per our agreement with the AFA, the deal was to have the match in October-November this year. They had even told us that the match can be held in October and we had fulfilled all the terms as per the agreement.' Augustine has conveyed that they want the friendly match to take place this year only as a postponement will come with a massive financial loss. 'We are interested in having the match only this year, as per the agreed terms. If the agreement is not honoured, there will be huge financial loss. So we may have to handle this legally,' he said. Kerala Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman, who made the announcement that Argentina would play in Kerala in October, told the media on Monday that the team would not visit the state this year. Anto, on the other hand, has refrained from making any such statement and is waiting for the AFA to formally declare that the team would not be playing in the state this year. Lionel Messi To Miss Inter Miami's Leagues Cup Match Against Pumas
Lionel Messi will miss Inter Miami's crucial Leagues Cup match against Pumas UNAM due to a muscle issue, coach Javier Mascherano said Tuesday. The Argentinian striker suffered what Mascherano called a "minor muscle injury" in his upper right leg in Miami's win over Necaxa last Saturday. While there is no timetable for Messi's return, Mascherano was hopeful the star would soon be back on the field. "Within the bad news, it's good news," Mascherano told reporters. "He usually recovers very well from injuries and above all, normally does with speed, so we will see. But clearly for tomorrow he is unavailable. But then we will see how he feels, how he progresses." Messi, who has a league-best 18 goals in MLS matches this season, led Miami to the Leagues Cup crown in 2023 shortly after his arrival to the Herons. Inter Miami likely need a victory over Pumas in their group stage finale to reach the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup, which features MLS and Mexican league squads. Should Miami reach the knockout stages, Messi would have two weeks to recover before the quarter-finals. Miami's next MLS match is set for Sunday against Orlando.
