Anurag Kashyap fires back at Vivek Agnihotri's claim that he was drunk, difficult to deal with: 'Jhootha hai ye aadmi'

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has fired back at fellow filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri after the latter claimed that Kashyap was a 'drunkard' who was difficult to deal with on the sets of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, a film on which they worked together. Anurag has called the statement a lie, presenting his side of the events. On Wednesday morning, Anurag shared a screengrab of a news report detailing Vivek's statement about him. The headline read: 'Anurag Kashyap was a drunkard who palmed off work to Vikram Motwane': Vivek Agnihotri says it became difficult to deal with the filmmaker.
Anurag wrote below the screenshot, "Kitna jhootha hai ye aadmi. Shooting London me hui thi (This man is a liar. The shoot took place in London). I was in India. He didn't want the script by Motwane or me. He wanted to make the Lagaan of football and took his own writer to write that crappy script. Neither me, nor @motwayne went on the set ever."
Anurag ended the note with a message to Vivek: 'Stop posturing @vivekagnohotri'. Vikramaditya Motwane, Anurag's longtime associate, who was also named in his statement by Vivek, also shared Anurag's Instagram Story, adding his seal of approval to it.
Earlier this week, in an interview with Digital Commentary, Vivek claimed Anurag's drinking habits during the making of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal made the working environment challenging. "Anurag uss time bahut sharab peeta tha toh usko time ka koi hisaab nahi tha (Anurag used to drink a lot at that time and had no sense of time). Phir voh Vikramaditya Motwane ko le aaye, bola mera RK ladka hai, vo help karega. Dheere dheere saara kaam Vikramaditya ko hi de diya. Main jo banana chah raha tha, yeh log ki soch kuch alag thi, yeh kuch aur hi banana chah rahe the (Then he brought Vikramaditya Motwane, saying 'he's my RK boy, he'll help out.' Gradually, all the work was handed over to Vikramaditya. What I wanted to make was different; their vision was entirely something else). Ultimately, we were at loggerheads. The production house had a word with Anurag… Anurag ko handle karna mushkil ho gaya (It became difficult to handle Anurag). Because only an alcoholic knows what an alcoholic goes through. It became a very big problem.'
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Vivek Agnihotri for UTV Motion Pictures, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal starred John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Arshad Warsi, and Boman Irani. The sports drama, released in 2007, was only moderately successful at the box office.

Usko manjoor nahi tha ki..' This actress left her boyfriend a year before her death, broke up due to..., her name was... For several years, there's been endless rumours and gossips about Kabir Bedi and Parveen Babi's relationship, and why they broke up suddenly. While, many villainised Bedi as he walked away, the actor once opened up and revealed his side of the story. Kabir revealed that when they went to London, he observed Parveen wasn't keeping well mentally, and persuaded her to seek help. Well, it was the major reason why she left him, and refused to heed his advice. While talking to Digital Commentary, Kabir was quoted saying, 'Vo toh isliye humare relationship ki khatam hui kyunki jab Italy ke baad hum London aaye mai ne dekha uski condition kharab ho rahi hai. Aur usko yeh manjoor nahi tha, jab ki mai janta tha ki agar vo treatment nahi legi toh haal bigadta jayega. Or is baat pe huamri separation hogayi.' The actor also revealed how he was accused for their breakup, with many claiming the reason was Parveen's mental instability. Defending himself at that time, Kabir said, 'I was demonised but I thought that I could either clear up the misunderstanding and make her look bad or just keep quiet and let her get the sympathy and get the roles so that she can reestablish herself and her career. I spoke about it five years later at the Filmfare.' Kabir also recalled meeting Parveen just a year prior her death, 'I met her a year before she passed away. She was laying beside the pool, sunning herself and she said, 'Oh, Kabir.' She was embarassed to see me, she had changed a lot. She told me, 'I'm fine but people think I'm mad.' I told her, 'You have made accusations against people and naturally they will have an opinion.' She looked at me and said, 'You also think I'm mad. You are one of them. I don't want to see you again. Please leave.' I wished her well and left. I was sorry to see her in that state. But she had a flat and she was looked after, she was working as an interior designer.' Kabir concluded by saying that he always cared for her and wanted her to seek help. But, her fear of losing out on work and other opportunities, was the major issue, hence his attempts failed to support her.

Anurag Kashyap says people started using more gore and violence in films after 'Animal' became a hit: 'What has happened since KGF, Salaar...'

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently voiced his concerns about the direction modern Indian cinema is taking. Anurag and filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma came together to share some of their initial days and struggles in the industry. In a conversation with India TV, Anurag and Ram did not hold back while reacting to the trend of recent films copying the same theme in an attempt to succeed at the box office. Anurag about the impact Sairat Reflecting on the 2016 Marathi blockbuster 'Sairat', Anurag Kashyap said he had expected the film to inspire a wave of grounded storytelling. Instead, he noted, it sparked a shift towards formula-driven filmmaking. 'What has happened since KGF , Salaar is that you wonder, why does the DI of all the films look the same? In Animal (2023), the gore and violence worked. Hence, filmmakers are now including more and more gore in their films—sometimes without reason! That for me is a scary part because then people start chasing a wrong goal post, "Kashyap remarked. Ram Gopal Varma about big budget movies He further observed that many directors seem to lack the ambition to craft a true cinematic experience, instead clinging to formulas derived from isolated decisions. In the same conversation, Ram Gopal Varma drew from his own experiences. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like CFD: Invertir $250 en Amazon podría devolverte un segundo salario Capital Markets Undo 'I never consciously thought of making Satya (1998) on a low budget. I spent what was required, and that created authenticity and realism. If I had spent Rs. 5 crores more, Satya's quality would have been five times worse!' he said. Varma went on to critique the industry's shift post-Baahubali, where, according to him, the increased focus on high budgets and special effects has come at the expense of genuine storytelling. He believes that making big-budget films is now the trend, and that emotional values are lacking in today's cinema. Nargis suffered beatings from her brother, was betrayed by Raj Kapoor, was underpaid for 10 years, stopped working with RK films after... Raj Kapoor, the original showman of Indian cinema, left a lasting legacy of films that remain fresh in the audience's mind. Not just his professional life, but also his personal life marred by a tumultuous affair with actress Nargis grabbed many headlines, leaving his fans intrigued. Their professional relationship gradually turned into love and lasted for almost a decade. Although, they became inseparable but their tragic-lover affair had no future as Raj Kapoor was already married to Krishna. Nargis's family was impetuously against her relationship with Raj Kapoor, so much so that her brother Akhtar used to beat her up constantly for being with him. But madly in love she was, Nargis put her career on hold, let go of opportunities and money, so that she could stay around Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor was so keen to cast Nargis in Aag , which was the first film of RK banner. So, he approached Jaddanbai, Nargis' mom, and offered to pay Rs 5000 as fees. But Nargis' brother jumped in and renegotiated the deal as he knew that his sister was already a leading actress, and got Raj to pay Rs 40,000. Following Aag, Raj kept on working with Nargis and gave her many opportunities, but never paid her what she deserved. Her undeniable love for Raj made him settle for less, and as a result of this, the finances of her family affected badly. After Nargis lost his parents, the financial responsibilities of her siblings and their family fell on her shoulders. Since the whole responsibility of her family was on her, it became more important for her to take up projects that helped her monetarily. Slowly, she realised that her association with Raj Kapoor was taking an emotional and financial toll on her. Nargis was aware that he wouldn't leave his wife for her, and she was wasting her time on him. Moreover, she was also losing work opportunities as many felt that she is only working with RK films. Also, Raj Kapoor wasn't paying her nearly what she deserve, and falsely made her believe that she was part of RK films, with no authoritsation on paper. It was during Chori Chori that Nargis asked her brother, who was her manager at that time, to look for work beyond RK sphere. Chori Chori failed, and eventually it was her last association with Raj Kapoor. Her last appearance in RK films was in Jagte Raho, and from then on she starred in new lot of films like Adalat, Lajwanti and Miss India. However, it was Mehbbob Khan's Mother India that changed her career not just professionally but also personally. It was during the making of Mother India that she met her future husband Sunil Dutt and never looked back.
