The Tata Harrier EV has been launched with a starting price of ₹ 21.49 lakh, ex-showroom. With this, the Harrier EV becomes the flagship electric vehicle offering from the stables of Tata Motors Electric Mobility. The new product brings in the latest EV architecture by the carmaker, the acti.ev plus, along with the reintroduction of all wheel drive into the Tata Motors portfolio.

In a significant move to promote green mobility and combat vehicular emissions, the Delhi Government has announced that only BS6 and CNG commercial vehicles will be allowed in the city from November 1. The government additionally, also announced the deployment of 2,299 electric autos at key Delhi Metro stations as part of its newly launched Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025. Unveiled by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday, the plan puts electric transportation at the centre of the capital's fight against air pollution.

Hyundai has announced changes to the variant lineup of the Alcazar SUV. The updated Hyundai Alcazar lineup will feature a new Corporate trim with a diesel engine starting at ₹ 17.86 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the Korean carmaker has also introduced a new DCT transmission option to the Prestige variant of the SUV with the petrol engine for consumers who require a more performance-oriented drive.

Delhi CM attack: ‘Photo' of attacker, AAP MLA sparks row

(Sanchit Khanna/HT Photo) The attack on Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta during a 'Jan Sunwai (public hearing)' programme sparked a war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with the former alleging a 'conspiracy' behind the attack and the opposition party an attempt by the BJP to defame the AAP. The row started over an image posted by BJP MLA Harish Khurana, in which the attacker was seen with Gopal Italia, an AAP Gujarat leader. The AAP refuted the allegation, calling it an AI-generated image. BJP parliamentarian Ramvir Singh Bidhuri demanded a screening of the attacker's phone logs. 'The conspiracy behind the attack must be exposed to find out who is upset with the significant development made by Rekha Gupta's government within just six months and who wants to harm her. The CCTV footage clearly shows that the attacker first conducted a recce of the CM's residence. It should be investigated who the attacker spoke to on the phone during the recce. To whom was the attacker providing all the information?' Bidhuri said. Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also alleged a 'political conspiracy' behind the attack. 'I condemn the attack on the chief minister during today's Jan Sunwai. Our CM worries for Delhi day and night, and anyone can come and meet the CM at her residence. This is a conspiracy by rivals. They can't tolerate that a CM remains amid the public for hours, that she meets people at her residence. So, there seems to be a political conspiracy behind this. Delhi Police is investigating this. In a video statement, Gopal Italia said, 'The cheap move by the Delhi BJP leader is absolutely wrong. An old video has been edited and a fake photo of someone has been used to do this cheap act. I appeal to all BJP leaders to avoid fake news…I will have to move the court and police against the spreading of fake news.' AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal condemned the attack, saying violence had no place in a democracy. 'The attack on Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is highly condemnable. In a democratic system, differences of opinion and opposition are acceptable, but there can be no place for violence. I am confident that the Delhi Police will take appropriate action. I hope the Chief Minister is completely safe and healthy,' Kejriwal said in a post on X. In a video statement, AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj said, 'Today, news is coming in that Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked, someone tried to slap her. This is absolutely condemnable. Any form of violence has no place in our society, and Mahatma Gandhi taught us this hundred years ago. The question is—which parties and which ideologies are promoting violence in the country and in society? Who is patronising violence, encouraging it, legitimising it?' Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav said the security lapse indicated the 'deteriorating law and order situation in the Capital with crimes against women witnessing a sharp spike.' Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's security cover may be enhanced
The Delhi Police on Wednesday said senior officers in the Centre will be reviewing Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta's security arrangements and might enhance it, following a physical assault by a 41-year-old man during a 'Jan Sunwai (public hearing)' grievance redressal programme in the morning. Delhi Police said no frisking is done for the Jan Sunwai programme. (Sanchit Khanna/HT Photo) Currently, the chief minister is accorded the Z-plus security cover, with police officers suggesting it might be upgraded to have 'more personnel' or enhanced arrangements. A senior police officer, not wishing to be named, said, 'While the local police will be looking into the case, we will also look into possible lapses behind the incident. The security unit has been roped in. We might also suggest changes in her security arrangements, especially when she meets public people on the ground and for other meetings.' The accused, a resident of Rajkot, Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakriya, has been arrested by the Delhi Police and is being interrogated by multiple departments. He has been booked for attempted murder. Police said Khimjibhai managed to pose as a local and approached the CM on the pretext of handing over a piece of paper, but then held her hands, manhandled her, and assaulted her. Police said the Union ministry of home affairs will decide on the security cover and enhancements. Police will submit current case details, requirements and potential threat, if any. As per protocol, MHA follows the Yellow Book rules, which specify different types of security cover for ministers, VIPs, and VVIPs. While the MHA had accorded the CM Z category cover initially, her security cover was upgraded to Z-plus, which involves more than 40 personnel, including escorts, static guards, CAPF personnel, commandos, watchers, and security for the convoy. As per norms, all sitting Delhi CMs are provided with Z category, but the arrangements can be upgraded after review. 'Since she is at Z-plus cover, the number of personnel can be increased to even 65, with more commandos and watchers. Their arrangements can be changed. Also, further upgrade can also mean advanced recce by personnel at every place she visits, her home, her office etc,' the officer cited above said. The attack took place at the recently inaugurated Jan Sewa Sadan in Civil Lines. In July, the CM shifted to the Raj Niwas Marg, which includes a camp office that has been turned into a Jan Sewa Sadan. 'We will also have to review the deployment of personnel at her private (Shalimar Bagh) as well as official residence,' a second police officer said. After the threat perception review, the matter is put up in front of the MHA, which will decide on the security cover. At present, former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also has a Z-plus category security cover. Police said they will be reviewing deployment and arrangements inside and outside the Civil Lines bungalow. A third officer, posted in the area, said, 'We will also have to see how frisking and screening is done at the bungalow. As per our knowledge, the Jan Sunwai meetings are open for all and no such frisking and checking was done. While the accused was not armed, there is threat as the CM was assaulted in front of a crowd. The accused managed to attack her and cause harm. We will have to submit a report. We will also have to ensure that none of the security arrangements disturb the CM in fulfilling her duties.' The accused was also spotted at her Shalimar Bagh residence, taking videos of the house and conducting recce, said the police. Police said the recce was conducted 24 hours before the attack.
