Stephanie Davis' tragic love life as ex dumps her months after giving birth

Daily Mirror23-06-2025
Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis played Sinead O'Connor in the Channel 4 soap and has had her fair share of headline-hitting relationships - including a fling with Zayn Malik
Actress Stephanie Davis has been left completely heartbroken, again. The 32-year-old who found fame on Channel 4's Hollyoaks confirmed over the weekend that her partner, Joe McKalroy, had dumped her – just months after she gave birth.
It came following weeks of speculation surrounding their romance after Stephanie had shared a Father's Day message which didn't include Joe, with whom she shares her young son, Samuel. Stephanie welcomed her son in January this year and told fans she couldn't process the news.
While Stephanie is known for her dramatic performances on screen, her off-screen love life has also frequently made headlines. From alleged infidelity in the Big Brother House to liaisons with co-stars and a romance with a boy band superstar, here's a full rundown of Stephanie's tumultuous love life.
Joe McKalroy
Stpanie found love in 2022 and appeared happily in love with Yorkshire lad Joe, whom she had called the "love of her life". But following weeks of speculation, she confirmed on Sunday that she and Joe had split.
In an Instagram Stories post, she wrote: "Never in a million years did I think I'd be writing this. I've been left with no choice but to address the rumours." She continued: "This has come as a complete shock and has been an incredibly painful and unexpected time. Just four months after having a baby - one of the most vulnerable and emotional times in a woman's life - I've found myself facing this chapter on my own."
Hinting at her past troubled romance with reality star Jeremy McConnell, with whom she shared a seven-year-old son, she went on: "After everything I've been through in the past, I truly believed I'd finally found my happiness - something secure and lasting. But that, heartbreakingly, hasn't been the case."
Stephanie went on to write: "I'm grateful for the years we had because without us, I wouldn't have my Samuel. Who will always be my priority." And she concluded: "Right now, I'm focusing on healing, protecting my peace, and doing the best I can - being there for my two beautiful boys. Thank you to those who've reached out - your kindness has meant more than I can say. Stephanie X."
Stephanie gave birth to young Samuel earlier this year and revealed to fans that she almost lost her son during "the worst pregnancy."
Oliver Tasker
Before finding love with her now ex-partner Joe, Stephanie was in a six-month relationship with bike shop worker Oliver. Oliver works as a buyer for Formby Cycles in Liverpool - a biking superstore owned by his parents.
He began dating Stephanie at the start of summer 2021, but the couple called it quits in September that year, mere weeks after she disclosed a heartbreaking miscarriage.
A source mentioned at the time that 'issues with trust' played a part, stating: "They had a great six months together, but Steph respects herself too much to feel like she should stay in a relationship that isn't working."
Owen Warner
Before her fling with Oliver, Stephanie was linked to Hollyoaks co-star Owen Warner, famous for his role as Romeo Nightingale on the hit Channel 4 soap. The former flames shared nine months together, moved in, and were even believed to be engaged at one point.
However, the 23-year-old Owen allegedly confided to friends that he felt 'suffocated' by the relationship, which single mum Stephanie was reportedly pushing forward at '100 miles an hour'. Steph previously disclosed that their bond had grown so intense that her son Caben, whom she had with ex-partner Jeremy McConnell, started calling Owen "daddy".
In September 2019, the Mirror exclusively revealed that Stephanie and Owen had parted ways. One insider revealed to the Mirror back then that Stephanie went ballistic after he swapped out his profile images on social media for ones sans her and blocked her.
The insider further divulged: "It was all a bit too much for him, and him being the age he is, found it very difficult to breathe. It was all very suffocating."
Owen has since been romantically involved with Love Island's Lana Jenkins and is now with Jemma Donovan, daughter of Jason Donovan, who made her Hollyoaks debut earlier this year.
Jacob Gill
Stephanie's name was linked to 'party animal' Jacob Gill in 2017, sparking rumours that the two were even engaged. However, a mate later spoke to the Mirror, claiming the romance was merely a 'fauxmance' concocted to get back at Stephanie's prior flame Jeremy McConnell.

"This is all for Jeremy's benefit. All the posts that started appearing from her regarding Caben and his birthday are also to get a reaction from him," they divulged. The fling between the couple reportedly fizzled out by January 2018.
Jeremy McConnell
Stephanie had an incredibly tough time with her ex, Jeremy McConnell. Their love story unfolded in the full glare of the public eye, beginning on the Celebrity Big Brother set, where the flames of their on-again-off-again romance were first ignited, leaving fans reeling until their explosive last row.

Even before they took their relationship public post-CBB, Jeremy faced cheating allegations the night prior to the CBB finale, despite her still being inside the house, which he vehemently refuted. Their time together was plagued with further infidelity whispers, and by just two months in, there were signs the relationship had turned violent.
Allegations flew that during a holiday to Cape Verde, where it's believed their son Caben was conceived in April 2016, they wrecked a hotel room together. Upon learning she was expecting, Stephanie said Jeremy abandoned her, refusing her calls and persisting in his denial of the child's paternity right up until Caben arrived in January 2017.
It was only after a DNA test confirmed his paternity that he accepted responsibility, though it remains uncertain whether he has contact with Caben following his conviction for assaulting Stephanie in March 2016, leaving her bruised and battered.

A year later, Jeremy was found guilty of a horrific attack on Stephanie at her Liverpool home while she cradled their eight-week-old son. Stephanie disclosed that the stress had caused her to miscarry what would have been their second child together.
In November 2019, Jeremy became a father again when his girlfriend Katie McCreath gave birth to their daughter, Storm.
Sam Reece

Before entering the Big Brother house in 2016, Stephanie was dating Manchester model Sam Reece. Despite her claims of intending to marry Sam, she cheated on him on national television by starting a relationship with Jeremy McConnell.
Sam watched from outside as Steph and Jez's relationship deepened - they are even rumoured to have been intimate in the reality show house. Since then, Sam has appeared on Ex On The Beach and landed a role in Emmerdale.
Zayn Malik

Stephanie has also been linked to former One Direction member Zayn Malik, revealing that she ended things with him because he was seeing Perrie Edwards.
She recounted their past, saying: "We dated for five months in 2011, just before he started seeing Perrie. We actually broke up because I found out he had been meeting up with Perrie.
"It was just one of those things. Zayn is a good lad really, I don't have anything bad to say about him." Zayn's relationship with Perrie eventually ended, and he later became involved with American model Gigi Hadid. The couple welcomed their daughter Khai four years ago but have since parted ways.

Celebs Go Dating's filming halted as Chaser Mark Labbett hit by health scare

Mark Labbett dives back into the dating pool in Celebs Go Dating. But one health-related incident led him to experience a terrifying moment behind the scenes of the C4 show. It's the 14th season of the hit reality dating series, and who better to guide the latest batch of celebs through the romantic chaos than Anna Williamson? ‌ The trusted matchmaker returns to the agency alongside Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn, Paul C Brunson and everyone's favourite receptionist Tom Read Wilson. ‌ Among the stars trying their luck on Celebs Go Dating is The Chase 's Mark Labbett - but he's more used to quizzes than kisses. 'I've been single for most of my life,' he says. 'I'm a little bit on the spectrum.' Mark says he finds human signals much harder than trivia. Facts are easy, people are complicated.' ‌ A diabetes-related health scare made filming even tougher. 'One night, I had a hypoglycaemic attack,' he says. 'I might have been a bit grumpy that night. I apologised to everyone after.' Though he admits a nap on set helped him cope. But the real curveball came when agents asked him to read social cues. 'I went, 'What do you mean?,'' he says. 'You don't notice people's emotions when in the room?,' and I said no. There was shock on both sides.' ‌ Anna Williamson, on the other hand, was thrilled to be back on the Channel 4 reality series. The latest season of Celebs Go Dating opens with a sunny shake-up, with the celebs kicking off their dating journeys with a trip to Ibiza. 'Get your popcorn ready,' Anna adds. 'We have a 'new' agency this series. We've got amazing celebrities who are so different. They each brought such different challenges for us coaches to work on." This year's line-up is packed with TV favourites from across the reality and entertainment spectrum. Love Island 's Olivia Hawkins, Too Hot To Handle star Louis Russell, The Sandman 's Donna Preston and Made In Chelsea bad boy Sam Prince all step into the dating ring alongside Mark. ‌ They're joined by TV personality and autism advocate Christine McGuinness, singer turned reality star Kerry Katona – who returns to the show six years after her first appearance – and S Club 7 's Jon Lee. 'The challenge this year was trying to keep up with the celebrities and their dating prowess,' Anna says. 'It was quite challenging to help some of our celebrities unlearn certain behaviours. Some of them didn't know how to even walk into a date and execute it appropriately.' Anna, Tara and Paul work closely with the celebrities to help them identify unhealthy patterns throughout their on-screen dates. 'We let things play out,' Anna says. ‌ 'They feel emotional, tearful – that's part of the process. It's a very important part of the work. When we get to our vulnerable side, we start to look at what needs to be done.' It's a tough process, particularly with high-profile names. 'With celebrities, they are typically very guarded,' Anna says. 'They've usually lost a bit of faith in the dating world because they've been burnt a lot along the way. Their dating pool tends to be smaller because they tend to date more within their celebrity circle. ‌ They've been burnt by people selling stories or that haven't been dating them for genuine reasons. They can be a bit guarded and jaded.' But Anna knows how to break down barriers. 'Tara always calls me Mama Anna,' she says, 'I am a nurturer by nature. I'm always the first to jump up and give someone a well-needed hug.' ‌ That being said, she's no pushover. 'I can be tough when I need to be,' she says. 'A couple of our celebs get a little bit of a dressing down from me this series. It might surprise you, but it always comes from a place of love. I will always help our celebrities, but if I see repeated habits, I will tell them. And I do.' Her priority is always clarity and accountability. 'The most unrealistic expectation, for a couple of our celebrities, is that you can date multiple people within the agency, but not take accountability for how you either continue or finish those interactions,' Anna says. 'Some of them got a bit of a bitter pill when they were having fun. Some of those bad habits started to catch up with them.' Fortunately, Anna has support from her colleagues at the agency, Paul, Tara and Tom. As for the future? She has high hopes for the series. ' Pete Wicks has been on three times, we may as well have Sam (Thompson) on three times,' she says. But what she really wants is a reunion. 'I would love to do an All Stars version of Celebs Go Dating,' she says. 'Paul and I are always talking about this, because we've had so many celebrities come through our doors. We are always in touch with them.'

UK pornography taskforce to propose banning ‘barely legal' content after Channel 4 documentary airs

The new pornography taskforce will propose legislation this autumn aimed at banning a type of 'barely legal' content produced by the porn star Bonnie Blue, the Guardian has learned. The proposed action by the independent pornography taskforce, launched last month by the Conservative peer Gabby Bertin, comes in response to the broadcast of the Channel 4 documentary 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story. The programme followed the performer for six months and included her claim to have had sex with 1,057 clients over the course of 12 hours. Visa and Smirnoff are among a number of businesses that have pulled online advertisements from streaming of the documentary, after reviewing the content. The film was condemned by the children's commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, for 'glamorising and normalising' extreme pornography. The documentary also includes footage of Tia Billinger, whose stage name is Bonnie Blue, in a classroom preparing to film an orgy with a group of models dressed in school uniform; the performers acknowledge that they have been selected because they look very young. Lady Bertin said she planned to lodge amendments to the crime and policing bill in the autumn to make it illegal for online platforms to host any content that could encourage child sexual abuse, including pornography filmed by adults dressed as children. 'This content is pushing at the boundaries. We will be trying to address the 'barely legal' aspect legislatively,' she said. The Online Safety Act charged the regulator Ofcom with monitoring whether pornography sites are protecting UK viewers from encountering illegal material involving child sexual abuse and extreme content, such as portrayals of rape, bestiality and necrophilia. However, other forms of harmful pornography that are regulated offline (in cinemas, for example) are not subject to similar restrictions online. This regulatory anomaly means adults role-playing as children to create pornography that appears close to child sexual abuse imagery is not prohibited online. The Channel 4 documentary only showed preparations for the classroom scene rather than the footage itself. Clips showing Bonnie Blue having sex with more than 1,000 men were pixellated, but the programme has still been widely criticised for promoting her brand and for failing to challenge adequately her assertion that her activity is harmless. Sign up to First Edition Our morning email breaks down the key stories of the day, telling you what's happening and why it matters after newsletter promotion Bertin said the documentary would be on the agenda at the taskforce's next meeting. 'She has become extremely successful; she is an adult and it is consensual, so it may not be harming her, but it has potentially harmful effects on people who think that this is a normal way to behave,' she said. 'We should be asking more about the men who arrive with balaclavas on their head to have sex with her.' De Souza said: 'For years we have been fighting to protect our children from the kind of degrading, violent sex that exists freely on their social media feeds. Now this documentary risks taking us a step back by glamorising, even normalising the things young people tell me are frightening. Bonnie Blue's content showcases violence against women as entertainment and allows sexist ideas that women are 'lesser' than men to go unchecked.' Visa's advertisements were placed by a third-party agency, but the company requested that they be removed from online streaming of the Channel 4 documentary after staff viewed it and judged that the content did not align with its internal guidelines. Staff at the drinks company Diageo are assessing how a Smirnoff advertisement was cleared to appear during online transmission of the show, and have also subsequently pulled their advertising from streaming of the programme. An Ofcom spokesperson said the regulator was assessing the documentary and would decide whether to launch a formal investigation. The policing minister, Diana Johnson, said last week that she would discuss the ease with which children could access the documentary on Channel 4's website with ministerial colleagues. Channel 4 requires users to be 16 to register an account, but there is no age-verification process, so children could lie about their age. A Channel 4 spokesperson said the observational film was designed to provoke debate. 'The film looks at how Bonnie Blue has gained worldwide attention and earned millions of pounds in the last year, exploring changing attitudes to sex, success, porn and feminism in an ever-evolving online world. Director Victoria Silver puts a number of challenges to Bonnie throughout the documentary on the example she sets and how she is perceived, and the film clearly lays bare the tactics and strategies she uses, with the audience purposefully left to form their own opinions.'

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins is thrown into chaos as Rebecca Loos gives up on her very first challenge before Louie Spence and Hannah Spearritt QUIT just 30 minutes into opening episode

Celebrity SAS was thrown into chaos as Rebecca Loos gave up her very first challenge before Louie Spence and Hannah Spearritt walked from the show. Series seven of the beloved Channel 4 show kicked off on Sunday night as 14 famous faces were put through their paces. Chief instructor Billy Billingham and his team Jason Fox, Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver also returned to our screens to put the celebrities through it. Celebrities taking part include former glamour model Rebecca Loos, Tasha Ghouri, Harry Clark, Michaella McCollum, Lucy Spraggan and Adam Collard. For their first extraction challenge, the celebrities were forced to throw themselves into freezing cold water before swimming a checkpoint. They had an allocated time to reach that point, where they'd be collected by a nearby boat. S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt handed in her badge when it came to the Hostage Rescue mission before even making an attempt However, for model Rebecca Loos, the first challenge already proved too much for her as she gave up midway through. Rebecca, 48, could be seen swimming towards the checkpoint before stopping dead in the water, remaining to float as the DS' watched on. Meanwhile, S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt handed in her badge when it came to the Hostage Rescue mission. As she saw what was ahead of her, Hannah could be heard saying 'I'm sorry'. She continued: 'I'm done. I'm sorry. I'm done. I've reached a point.' It came just 30 minutes into the new series, where Hannah had said in her introductory VT how 'wouldn't give up so easily'. She told the camera: 'I'm pretty determined. I wouldn't say I give up easily. But whether I'll get to the end or not, I don't think I'd go on the first day as I wouldn't forgive myself.' In a major shock for viewers, Louie Spence also threw in the towel before the end of the first episode. He had failed the Hostage Rescue challenge after being partnered with Love Island's Chloe Burrows. After the challenge, he declared: 'I want to do an immediate withdrawal.' Explaining why he was suddenly quitting the show, Louie added: 'I don't have the conviction. I'm not dedicated enough.' Last year, John Barrowman quit SAS after just 32 minutes into filming. He dubbed the 'worst recruit' in the show's history after he told Directing Staff 'I'm done' adding: 'I just... it's not for me, I know who I am and what I'm about, it's not for me' following his arrival on set. Despite his abrupt exit, Daily Mail revealed how John received a whopping £30,000 appearance fee by bosses. Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues on Monday night at 9pm on Channel 4.
