Why is Predator a hero in Badlands?
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Trachtenberg explained why a predator is a central hero in the upcoming movie. He said, 'That feels like a big idea, not just within Predator, but in sci-fi generally. In most sci-fi universes, the 'creatures' are either bad guys or sidekicks. In [Badlands] it's: 'What if you were with the creature on this crazy mission to prove itself, seeing everything through its eyes?'' Describing Dek's character, he added, 'He's a thing of few words, pretty blunt. He cuts straight to the point. Literally and figuratively.'

Golden Retriever Becomes the Star of Grandma's Sleepover — Backpack and Hat Included (Exclusive)

Wally, a 4-year-old golden retriever, has become an internet favorite thanks to his big emotionsNEED TO KNOW Julia Moriggi, 34, and her fiancé got Wally, a golden retriever, when he was an 8-week-old puppy Now 4, Wally has become an internet favorite thanks to his big emotions — both joyful and heart-wrenching Recently, Moriggi shared a video of Wally arriving to a sleepover at his grandma's, which went viral and amassed over 7 million viewsWally, a 4-year-old golden retriever, has become an internet favorite thanks to his big emotions — both joyful and heart-wrenching. His mom, Julia Moriggi, 34, and her fiancé have had Wally since he was just an 8-week-old puppy. The couple has always loved golden retrievers, and in 2020, they decided to buy a house after their landlord told them they couldn't have a dog. Realizing life is short, they committed to doing whatever it took to make their dream of having a golden puppy come true. Since then, their lives have never been the same. Their world now revolves around Wally and they wouldn't have it any other way. They've even created a social media account for him on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, where hundreds of thousands of followers tune in to watch Wally share his big feelings through strikingly human-like facial expressions. 'He is a very special dog that has touched the lives of so many people,' Moriggi tells PEOPLE exclusively. 'He is extremely intelligent and intuitive, and we've caught him on camera seemingly fully understanding what we are saying. He is truly a one-of-a-kind dog." When Moriggi and her fiancé travel and Wally can't tag along, he stays with his beloved grandma and grandpa — Moriggi's parents. While he sometimes spends several days with them, his most recent visit was just an overnight stay. Before his latest sleepover, Moriggi packed Wally's little backpack with his favorite toys, food and treats. At her mom's house, she says Wally has his own bed, and grandma always goes the extra mile, making sure there's a new toy or treat waiting for him when he arrives. 'They're the only ones who watch him, and they get so excited when he comes to visit,' Moriggi says. 'They truly treat him like their grandchild.' 'He is obsessed with her,' the product analyst and creator adds. 'Whenever he sees her, he absolutely loses his mind. He loves her so much, but I think she might love him even more. She'll literally pet him for hours, so he knows when he sees her, he's about to get a lot of love (and snacks).' After getting Wally's things ready, Moriggi loaded him into the car and headed off to her parents' house, about an hour away from their home in Boston. As the family got closer, she says Wally smelled where they were going and started bouncing around in the backseat, eager to get out. Once they arrived and parked, Moriggi got Wally out of the car and dressed him in his little backpack and hat, hoping to to surprise grandma with how cute he looked. As they made their way to the door, Moriggi pulled out her phone and began filming the moment. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! 'When grandma opened the door, he ran inside, said hi to grandpa, and immediately found the present waiting for him,' Moriggi recalls. 'He knew exactly where to look because she always has one waiting. He grabbed the whole bag and ran around showing it off to everyone, which was the best part of the video. It's a ritual every time we visit or she comes to our house.' "The hat and backpack started falling off as he got more and more excited,' she says. 'It made the video a little chaotic and so funny.' Later, Moriggi shared the sweet moment online, where it quickly went viral, racking up 7.7 million views and 3,700 comments as of Monday, Aug. 4. What's your sign? For the dog mom, it's always exciting when a video goes viral, especially when it features Wally and his grandma. Although the duo has had a few viral moments together, Moriggi says her mom still finds it 'so crazy' and is amazed when people recognize her. 'People also share that Wally reminds them of their dogs who have passed away, and they include a little story about them. These comments always bring me to tears.' "Another comment that kept showing up on this video was, 'This is how all animals deserve to be treated and loved,' and that one really hit because it is so true,' Moriggi adds. 'People were also saying they want to be Wally, or come back in their next life as him. They also wondered if they could be adopted into our family or go visit grandma themselves, which always makes us laugh." Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword

'Gross' - NFL Fans Aren't Pleased With ESPN's Newest Hire

'Gross' - NFL Fans Aren't Pleased With ESPN's Newest Hire originally appeared on The Spun. ESPN has undergone some major changes over the past several years as its said goodbye to some of its most recognizable faces and brought in new ones. And perhaps no hire has been more emblematic of the network's shift in culture than the recent hire of TikTok star Katie Feeney. On Monday, the Worldwide Leader announced the signing of the sports and lifestyle content creator as the potential bridge to a younger audience that may not engage with its favorite players, teams and leagues through traditional means. "Katie has built an impressive and authentic connection with sports fans by blending access, personality, and Gen-Z culture in a way that feels fresh and engaging," ESPN exec Kaitee Daley said in a statement. "Her perspective and creativity are a perfect match for how we're reimagining coverage to meet fans where they are, and we can't wait to see the energy she brings to ESPN's daily coverage and live event moments." Fans weren't exactly receptive to the "gross" hire on X. "It's incredible how out of touch ESPN has become," a user said. "Just like gambling, ESPN is years late to the 'lifestyle' content. There's zero chance they can compete with Barstool, Outkick, The Athletic, etc. ESPN's only path forward is returning to unbiased sports." "went to this chicks page to find out who she is and all her content is paid sponsorship man on the street interviews," another laughed. "ESPN got rid of around the horn to pay snapchatters for 30 videos ????" "14 million people and I have no clue who the hell she is," a fan admitted. "Talent means nothing in 2025 there are actors who can't get jobs because they don't have over 100k following on social media," another person posted. "ESPN firing talent left and right." "You go to school for journalism spend years mastering your craft. Katie is hot on Snapchat. You lost to Feeney," another user shared. "ESPN used to mean something man." "This channel used to air The Sports Reporters." There's clearly a bit of a generational divide when it comes to ESPN's embrace of social media (even if it tends to lean a bit on the cornier side). For what it's worth though, it seems like Katie has built a great brand for herself and we'll see what she's able to do in her new role.'Gross' - NFL Fans Aren't Pleased With ESPN's Newest Hire first appeared on The Spun on Aug 4, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 4, 2025, where it first appeared.

Prince Harry denies new book's claim that he punched Prince Andrew

Prince Harry says he never punched his problematic uncle Prince Andrew, nor did the latter make insulting remarks about Meghan Markle, despite claims being made in a new book. Author Andrew Lownie's soon-to-be released biography, 'Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York,' details some of the more intimate elements of Prince Andrew's life, including his marriage and divorce from Sarah Ferguson, his relationships with his family and the immense scrutiny he's faced due to his connection to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Among the many claims made in the book are allegations that Andrew was left with a bloody nose after a 'heated argument' with Harry broke out during a 2013 family gathering. According to a newly published excerpt, 'punches were thrown' when anger escalated over 'something Andrew said behind Harry's back.' The book also accuses Andrew of having expressed skepticism and concern about Harry's marriage to Meghan, allegedly calling her an 'opportunist.' But according to a representative for the 40-year-old prince, 'neither of those things are true.' 'Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make those comments about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry,' a spokesperson said in a statement to People. Harry has long had to deny rumors about himself and his family, especially amid the tensions that grew after he and Meghan left their senior royal duties in 2020 and decamped to her native California. Despite reports that his relationship with the royal family is as strained as ever — thanks in no small part to all the dirty laundry he aired in his 2023 bestselling memoir 'Spare' — Harry insisted to the BBC in May that he 'would love reconciliation.' Prince Andrew, meanwhile, has remained largely ousted from the royals' good graces after his disastrous Epstein-focused interview with the BBC in 2019. He was allegedly cut off financially by his brother King Charles, according to another controversial biography. _____
