Bills' Josh Allen wins 2024 NFL MVP Award: Here's how the full voting broke down

USA Today07-02-2025

While there has been a decent amount of debate both before and after, what's done is done.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been named the 2024 NFL MVP.
Allen was presented the honor at the NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday and he had some stiff competition. At the top of that list were Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.
The voting process for the award is based on voters giving candidates a first place vote, second place, and so on.
In the end, here's how the full voting broke down for 2024 NFL MVP:

Steelers extend contract of safety DeShon Elliott

The man who didn't want the Steelers to sign quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be sticking around Pittsburgh. Safety DeShon Elliott, who said "leave his ass in the retirement home" when the topic of Rodgers to the Steelers first emerged, has agreed to terms on a two-year, $12.5 million extension with including $9.21 million in guarantees, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media. Advertisement A sixth-round pick of the Ravens in 2018, Elliott spent four years in Baltimore, one in Detroit, and one in Miami before signing a two-year, $6 million deal with the Steelers in 2024. He appeared in 15 games with 14 starts last season with the Steelers. And as to the "leave his ass in the retirement home" comment, Elliott seemed to change his tune after working out with Rodgers in California. And possibly after he got a look at what a first-ballot Hall of Famer who still has an all-time arm can do at 41.

Bengals' Joe Burrow tops Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes in new QB rankings

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is often near the very top in most quarterback rankings. Burrow's name is usually up there alongside the likes of Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. A few other names usually rotate into or near the conversation depending on the year, highlighted by Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. Advertisement A new set of mid-June quarterback rankings, though, gets interesting by putting Burrow ahead of Mahomes. RELATED: Bengals, Shemar Stewart nuclear option includes 2026 NFL draft route In the rankings from Chris Simms, Burrow sits in front of Mahomes, but behind Allen and Jackson, with the Ravens' passer sitting first overall. As one can probably imagine, the rankings caused some drama online and even for the crew debating them. They're projected rankings, too, according to Sims' film analysis and breakdowns. If nothing else, it's an interesting look at one person's take on the quarterback hierarchy in the NFL. The only undeniable thing is that most NFL franchises that don't make this list would jump at the opportunity to have Burrow or a handful of others at whatever the asking price. Ravens Could Make Blockbuster Move for Jags RB

Ravens Could Make Blockbuster Move for Jags RB originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Baltimore Ravens have one of, if not the best running back room in the entire NFL, and there is a chance that it could be pushed over the top this offseason. Advertisement In a recent article by Anthony Palacios of Last Word on Sports, he puts together a list of teams that could pursue star running back Travis Etienne if the Jacksonville Jaguars decide to cut him. And one of the teams he mentions is the reigning AFC North champions. "Despite Derrick Henry's contract extension, he isn't getting any younger, and Keaton Mitchell has yet to prove to top over 1,000 yards in one season," Palacios wrote. "Etienne is more proven if he can stay consistent and take over as the starter once Henry runs out of gas." The Jags selected Etienne out of Clemson University in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but his snap count was vastly reduced for whatever reason in 2024. The 26-year-old running back had just 150 rushing attempts this past season, which was 18 less than the player who is listed as his backup on the depth chart, Tank Bigsby. Advertisement Two seasons ago in 2023, Etienne finished with 1,008 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. He was also able to show his versatility with 476 yards and a touchdown through the air. Henry will still be the lead back through the 2027 season, when his contract expires. But after that, the plan is not clear yet for the Ravens, but going after Etienne could be a very intriguing option for the team to explore.
