Dish TV India Q1 loss widens YoY to Rs 95 crore, revenue falls 28%

posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 95 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, compared to a loss of Rs 2 crore in the same period last year. The bigger loss was driven by a sharp fall in revenue and continued challenges in the direct-to-home (DTH) television business.
The company's EBITDA fell 56% to Rs 73 crore, with margins under pressure from competition, inflation, and rupee depreciation. Revenue from operations dropped 28% year-on-year to Rs 329 crore, as subscription income slid 11% to Rs 273 crore.
To address this, the company plans to focus on hybrid offerings, connected devices, and value-added products such as content bundling with TV manufacturers, partnerships, and alliances.
Dish TV has taken measures to improve the quality of subscriber acquisitions, reduce churn, and limit recurring set-top box capital expenditure. Savings from these steps are being redirected to newer business areas such as the Watcho and FLIQS platforms, with plans to fund similar initiatives internally.

Super App had more than 96 million downloads and 11 million paid subscribers by June 2025. It offers over 24 apps with a range of entertainment content at competitive prices. FLIQS provides a curated platform with exclusive, original, and premium digital content in multiple languages, including films, web series, and short-form videos.
Dish TV and its subsidiary Dish Infra Services reassessed the value of key assets, including the Watcho streaming platform and those acquired from Videocon d2h. Independent valuations showed a steep decline due to fewer subscribers and changing business conditions.
Dish Infra wrote down Rs 798 crore in intangible assets under development, Rs 202 crore in capital advances, and Rs 120 crore in other advances, all related to new-age technologies, including the Watcho OTT platform. It also reduced the value of Videocon d2h assets in its books by Rs 2,364 crore in goodwill, Rs 70 crore in customer relationships, and Rs 401 crore in property and equipment.
In Dish TV's own books, Videocon d2h-related assets were reduced by Rs 3,911 crore (goodwill), Rs 1,029 crore (brand), Rs 498 crore (customer relationships), and Rs 28 crore (property and equipment).
The company remains in a long-running legal dispute with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting over DTH licence fees. The case has been in the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court since 2015, with interim relief still in place. Similar cases involving other DTH players are in the Supreme Court.
Dish TV has set aside Rs 4,680 crore as of June 2025 to cover potential interest liabilities, up from Rs 4,613 crore in March. In April, the ministry demanded Rs 6,736 crore in licence fees and interest from the time the company first received its licences up to FY24, a demand the company has disputed.
The company also challenged a proposed audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India in 2023 and obtained a court stay, which remains in effect.
As of June 2025, Dish TV's accumulated losses exceeded its equity capital, resulting in a negative net worth. Management says this is mainly due to the licence fee dispute and warns that an unfavourable outcome could raise doubts about its ability to continue.

IT company Infosys plans to acquire 75 per cent stake in Versent Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Australian telecom firm Telstra, for 233.25 million Australian dollars or about Rs 1,336 crore, the company said in a regulatory filing. The acquisition is part of strategic collaboration between Infosys and Telstra to form a joint venture to provide AI-enabled cloud and digital solutions for Australian businesses. State-owned Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) on Thursday reported more than doubling of its first quarter net profit, as marketing margins surged because of holding of retail prices despite a drop in input oil cost. Its standalone net profit of Rs 5,688.60 crore in April-June – the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year – compared to Rs 2,643.18 crore earnings in the same period of the last year, according to a stock exchange filing by the company. The first quarter profit is nearly half of the company's full 2024-25 (April 2024 to March 2025) fiscal year earnings of Rs 12,961.57 crore. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd reported a 33 per cent decline in consolidated profit after tax at Rs 164.8 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2025, impacted by higher expenses. The company had posted a consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 249.12 crore in the corresponding period of last fiscal, Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd said in a regulatory filing. Ashok Leyland reported a 19.44 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 657.72 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2025, riding on record volumes. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 550.65 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal, Ashok Leyland said in a regulatory filing. State-owned Hindustan Copper on Thursday posted an over 18 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 134.28 crore in the June quarter of FY26, supported by higher revenues. The company, which is engaged in copper ore mining, had logged a net profit of Rs 113.40 crore in the April-June period of preceding 2024-25 financial year. According to an exchange filing, Hindustan Copper's total income rose to Rs 526.65 crore in the first quarter from Rs 500.44 crore in the same period a year ago. Inox Wind's consolidated net profit more than doubled to Rs 97.34 crore in the June quarter compared to the year-ago period, mainly due to higher revenues. It had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 41.59 crore in the year-ago period, a BSE filing showed. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd reported an 86 per cent drop in consolidated profit after tax to Rs 46.97 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2025, impacted by a provision for settling a litigation in the US. The company had posted a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 340.24 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd said in a regulatory filing. Vodafone Idea reported widening of its consolidated loss to Rs 6,608 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2025, mainly on account of an increase in finance cost. The company had posted a loss of Rs 6,426.7 crore in the same period a year ago, according to an exchange filing. IRB Infrastructure posted an over 45 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 202.4 crore in the June quarter of FY26, supported by higher revenues. The company had logged a net profit of Rs 139.9 crore in the April-June period of the 2024-25 financial year. New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two significant highway infrastructure projects in the capital, the Delhi segments of the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Dwarka Expressway, together valued at Rs 11,000 crore. Officials anticipate that the new corridors will help reduce travel times, divert freight traffic away from the city centre, and provide relief to Delhi's overburdened Inner and Outer Ring Roads. UER-II: Delhi's Third Ring Road The flagship development is the 54.21km stretch of UER-II, which runs from Alipur through Bawana, Rohini, Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh, and Dwarka to Dichaon Kalan. The project, costing ₹5,580 crore, forms part of the 76km total corridor, which includes an additional 21.5km stretch in Haryana. Designed as Delhi's third ring road under the Delhi Master Plan Road 2021, UER-II will connect to key hubs such as Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. The six-lane highway is expected to ease congestion at major traffic points including Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-9. The project is anticipated to reduce travel time between the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and various locations in southwest and northwest Delhi by 40 to 60 percent, according to government estimates. It is also set to enhance connectivity between Chandigarh, Gurugram, and IGI Airport. Several sections, including those around Najafgarh, Mundka, and Alipur, have already opened in phases, bringing benefits to previously underdeveloped areas such as Karala, Alipur and Bawana. The corridor improves access to south Delhi, Noida, and Faridabad, and significantly boosts connectivity to Dwarka, Mahipalpur, and Vasant Kunj. Declared a national highway, UER-II is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in five packages, with funding for Delhi's portion provided by the Delhi Development Authority. Dwarka Expressway The second project inaugurated is a 10.1 km stretch of the Dwarka Expressway, built at a cost of ₹5,360 crore. This bypass of the NH-48 Delhi-Gurugram Expressway includes a tunnel and an underpass near the airport, offering direct connectivity from IGI Airport to UER-II, Gurugram, and Dwarka. It links directly to Yashobhoomi in Dwarka Sector 25 and is integrated with multi-modal transport systems including the Delhi Metro's Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot. The new expressway section has already reduced travel time for commuters in Dwarka, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj, and Najafgarh, while significantly improving access to Gurugram and the airport. The Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway includes two parts: 5.9 km from the Shiv Murti intersection near the airport to Dwarka Sector 21, and 4.2 km from Sector 21 to the Delhi-Haryana border. The 19 km Haryana section was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on 11 March 2024. The full 28 km expressway was completed at a total cost of Rs 8,611 crore. Sustainable Construction In a notable environmental initiative, two million tonnes of waste from the Ghazipur landfill were utilised in the construction of UER-II, reducing the height of the landfill mound by seven metres. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari previously highlighted the use of such material during the Delhi Assembly election campaign. 'We are using inert materials recovered through biomining of legacy waste for highway construction to promote sustainable infrastructure,' an NHAI official stated. 'These inert materials such as soil, silt, stones and construction debris are stable and suitable for embankment filling, subgrade layering and service roads,' the official added. The same material is also being used in other projects, including the DND–Faridabad–Ballabgarh–Sohna bypass, which aims to reduce landfill volumes, conserve natural resources, and lower both construction costs and carbon emissions. Political Endorsement Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who visited the site on Saturday to oversee preparations along with senior officials and party leaders, described the projects as a 'historic gift' for the capital. 'The commencement of UER-II will play a vital role in reducing congestion, improving industrial corridor network, lowering vehicular pollution and thereby contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment,' CM Gupta said. 'UER-II is not just an infrastructure project; it is an investment in the future of Delhi. It will improve traffic flow, cut travel time drastically, and uplift the quality of life for lakhs of people living in Delhi and NCR,' she added. Highlighting the long-distance benefits, she noted that UER-II will link with the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway, KMP Expressway and the Gurugram-Sohna Highway, which further connects to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. 'Travel to Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Jaipur, and even Mumbai will become faster and more convenient. It is truly a transformative project,' Gupta said. 'With this network, UER-II will emerge as a backbone of high-speed connectivity, linking Delhi not just with NCR but with the entire nation,' she concluded. Experts' View While the projects are part of a broader strategy to decongest Delhi, transport experts have previously raised concerns about whether such road expansions provide lasting relief or simply shift bottlenecks to new locations.

Hundreds of people thronged the roadsides to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister as he greeted the crowd. During the visit, he also interacted with the workers engaged in the construction of the highway section, acknowledging their efforts in shaping the project. The Prime Minister reviewed the progress of UER-II alongside Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. PM Modi inaugurated the two highway projects at a ceremony in northwest Delhi's Rohini. The projects are estimated at nearly Rs 11,000 crore, which the Union government has projected as a key step to tackle persistent traffic snarls in Delhi and to enhance connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR). According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), "These initiatives reflect Prime Minister Modi's vision of creating world-class infrastructure that ensures seamless mobility," the PMO stated. Officials anticipate that the corridors will reduce travel time, divert heavy freight traffic away from the heart of the city, and bring relief to commuters stuck on Delhi's frequently gridlocked Inner and Outer Ring Roads. Among the two projects, the centrepiece is the 54.21-km stretch of the Urban Extension Road-II. Built at a cost of Rs 5,580 crore, the six-lane highway begins at Alipur and passes through Bawana, Rohini, Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh, and Dwarka before reaching Dichaon Kalan. Conceived under the Delhi Master Plan Road 2021 as the national capital's third ring road, the corridor also includes strategic links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. Officials expressed confidence that once operational, the corridor would ease pressure on Delhi's already congested Inner and Outer Ring Roads and decongest some of the busiest choke points, including Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-9.
