Prestige Group to build 1.5-km flyover in Bengaluru linking Bellandur to ORR to ease traffic congestion: Report
The project has received the green light from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Bengaluru's civic agency. In exchange for permission to build on public land, Prestige has committed to widening the congested Kariyammana Agrahara Road and will fund the flyover entirely from its own resources, the report stated.

Prestige first submitted a proposal to the BBMP in August 2022, followed by a revised request in late 2023. The company cited severe congestion on the key approach roads, namely Old Airport Road via Yemalur and Kariyammana Agrahara Road, as justification. The upcoming Prestige Beta Tech Park is expected to accommodate more than 5,000 workers once operational.
Approval came through in April this year, reportedly after consultation with Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. BBMP officials have stipulated that the new flyover must remain open for general public use, not just for Prestige employees. The firm is also eligible for Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) in return for land ceded for road expansion, provided all legal criteria are met.

Interestingly, the flyover's approval lagged nearly a year behind the sanctioning of the tech park's building plan. The site, spanning 70 acres, received its initial clearance from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in September 2023.
The Technical Director at Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd confirmed the project's approval and noted that Prestige will also fund a new 40-foot-wide connector road, according to the report. This road will shorten travel distance to Sakra Hospital Road by about 2.5 km, he said, framing the initiative as part of a broader push for public-private collaboration in infrastructure development.

Bengaluru Hotels Association Write To DK Shivakumar Over Slow Infra Work
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Hotels Association has raised alarm over prolonged road and infrastructure works in the city, claiming that delays are severely hurting the hospitality sector. The state hotel body has written to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, urging him to intervene and ensure timely completion of the projects. According to the association, roadworks that were supposed to be completed within three months have stretched well beyond a year, with no signs of completion. As a result, businesses in affected areas including hotels, bakeries, sweet shops, bars and restaurants have reported up to a 50% drop in revenue. The association also highlighted the hardship faced by the public, particularly senior citizens, due to dug-up roads and traffic diversions. In its appeal, the association pressed the government to finish all pending works within the stipulated timeline. It further sought a 50% concession on Property Tax, Garbage Tax, Electricity Fixed Charges, and Excise Fees if delays persist. "The government must expedite the works to provide relief to both businesses and citizens," the association said. Meanwhile the CAG report tabled in the state assembly had pointed out that Capital expenditure also fell by Rs 5,229 crore compared to the previous year, leading to a 68 percent rise in incomplete projects, a trend that could harm Karnataka's future growth prospects.

Assembly nod for Bill to clarify GBA's authority over new corporations
BENGALURU: The Karnataka Assembly on Tuesday passed the Greater Bengaluru Governance (Amendment) Bill, 2025, to clarify that the newly formed Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) would not interfere with the functioning of the proposed five new corporations. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who also holds the Bengaluru Development portfolio, said that though the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act was passed, some people filed a PIL in the court. 'Hence, this amendment has been brought, stressing to clarify the point that the Greater Bengaluru Authority would not interfere in the functioning of the corporations,' Shivakumar said. According to the existing Act, GBA shall exercise such authority and discharge such functions as per the provisions of this Act, including with respect to the corporations created, he said. 'We have removed it... we will not interfere. Corporations are separate. We don't want to interfere in their functioning,' Shivakumar added. Discussing the matter, Dasarahalli MLA Muniraju (BJP) lamented that his constituency will be divided between the proposed Bengaluru City North Corporation and Bengaluru City West Corporation.
