He only took charge of Legia two months ago, but has made a rocky start to his tenure after a disappointing exit in Europe, where they were thrashed 4-1 in Cyprus.

Light Blues midfielder Joe Rothwell clipped the outside of a post with a free-kick from 25 yards in the 26th minute. But it was not the signal for a comeback as Butland brilliantly beat away a drive from Carlos Forbes, with the home defence again split open. A three-goal deficit at the break left the Gers support in a state of shock but they got a lifeline when Danilo slid in to convert an enticing cross from Meghoma. Brugge stepped up the pace and amid a flurry of corners, Butland made a fine from Joel Ordonez. Gassama's angled-drive skipped inches past the far post before Mohamed Diomande and Danilo were replaced by Hamza Igamane and Thelo Aasgaard. Gassama had the ball in the Brugge net in the 78th minute but French referee Francois Letexier was asked by VAR to check his pitchside monitor and quickly decided that Mignolet had the ball in his hand before it was bundled into the net. The Light Blues second-half display was heartening but it was a chastening first 20 minutes which keeps the spotlight on Martin.

Aberdeen linked with six-figure signing swoop for Swedish left-sided winger
Aberdeen look to be closing in on a six-figure transfer swoop for Swedish winger Kenan Bilalovic. Dons boss Jimmy Thelin is keen to bolster his squad before the Europa League play-off registration deadline on Thursday. Reports in Sweden claim a deal of around £550,000 is close to being finalised for the 20-year-old, who plays for Swedish top-flight IFK Värnamo. The winger was absent from IFK Värnamo's 2-2 draw away to Elfsborg – Thelin's former club – on Monday evening. IFK Värnamo's sports director, Jörgen Pettersson, confirmed the winger has been given permission to talk to another club. A deal has reportedly been agreed, with Bilalovic needing to pass the mandatory medical before penning a contract. Bilalovic has scored one goal in 18 matches in the Swedish league this season. The Swedish youth international would provide competition for Finland international Topi Keskinen on the left wing.

Former Aberdeen utility man Ross McCrorie could stand to net the Pittodrie club another BIG pay-day if he leaves Bristol City this summer. The 27-year-old has been linked with Italian Serie A side Udinese, who are reportedly eyeing a £3million swoop for McCrorie – who Aberdeen sold to Bristol for £2m in 2023. While it has always been common knowledge, the Dons inserted a sell-on clause into their deal with the Robins for McCrorie, The Press and Journal can confirm the percentage due to the Pittodrie club is 20%. In further good news for the Reds during their own summer rebuild, Norwich City and sides in US Major League Soccer have also been credited with an interest in McCrorie, raising the possibility of a bidding war which could increase his price-tag further. If Udinese land defensive midfielder/right-back McCrorie for £3m, Aberdeen stand to pocket a tidy six-figure sum. McCrorie made 114 stars for Aberdeen between 2020 and 2023, having joined on an initial loan-to-buy deal from rivals Rangers, before signing for the Dons permanently in January 2021. The one-cap Scotland international made 26 appearances for Bristol City last season, scoring five goals. On the Championship's opening weekend for the new campaign, McCrorie scored with a cracking finish and also provided an assist in a 4-1 win over Sheffield United. Udinese only just completed a deal for ex-Aberdeen striker Lee Miller's son, Lennon, on Tuesday. The Italian outfit struck a £4.75m deal with Motherwell for the highly-rated young midfield playmaker.
