Many actors in film industry have established a remarkable reputation for themselves through their impressive acting skills. However, there are also those who have put in significant effort yet have not been able to leave a lasting impact. Today, we'll discuss one such majorly unsuccessful actor in Bollywood, whose fees were higher than those of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, yet he was unable to deliver a single hit and has now faded away from the Bollywood scene. However, as soon as he decided to step in regional cinema, his fate got changed. Megastar…
Here we are referring to Megastar Chiranjeevi , the heart of South cinema. He appeared in only three Bollywood films, Pratibandh, Aaj Ka Gundaraj, and The Gentleman . However, all three ended up being major flops at the box office, leading to him being labeled a flop hero in Bollywood, but he gained immense recognition in the South. His identity did not gain strength in Hindi films, but his powerful acting and charisma won the hearts of audiences in the South Indian industry. In addition to this, Chiranjeevi completed his graduation from Madras Film Institute, where superstar Rajinikanth was also enrolled. Rajinikanth completed his graduation in 1973, whereas Chiranjeevi graduated four years later in 1977. Chiranjeevi's Astounding Success
His popularity soared to such heights that fans began to revere him like a deity. Chiranjeevi delivered a stream of successful films in the 90s. He had 14 superhit films during that decade, establishing him as the foremost superstar of the South. Furthermore, his fame grew to the extent that he was considered on par with Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan . According to a news report, Chiranjeevi received Rs 1.25 crore for his role in Aapadbandhavudu , making him the highest-paid actor in India at that time. He became the first Indian film star to demand a remuneration of Rs 1 crore for a movie. His film Gharana Mogudu generated more than Rs 10 crore in distributor share, and Week magazine described him as 'Bigger than Bachchan.' Chiranjeevi Then and Now
Reports suggest that today, Chiranjeevi commands a fee of up to Rs 70 crore per film. In terms of his overall wealth, it is estimated to be around Rs 1650 crore . Additionally, the total net worth of his Konidela family is believed to be approximately 4000 crores . He has evolved into more than just an actor; he has become a cultural icon. On the personal front, Chiranjeevi tied the knot with Surekha Konidala on February 20, 1980 . They are parents to two daughters, Sushmita and Sreeja , as well as a son, Ram Charan , who has now become an established star of the Telugu industry. He has been honored with several accolades, such as the Padma Bhushan awarded in 2006 and the Padma Vibhushan given in 2024 by the Government of India, along with the IFFI Indian Film Personality of the Year Award in 2022.

"Jagran mein guitar bajata tha...": Delhi's Jamnapaar boy Sagar Bhatia on making a mark on India's qawwali scene

New Delhi [India], June 10 (ANI): 'Main bhaut roya,' expressed renowned sufi artist Sagar Bhatia, remembering the never-experienced-before feeling during a recent car drive, where it hit him how much his life has transformed for the better after years of struggles. Overwhelming and unexplainable emotions of joy and gratefulness left him teary-eyed. That day, he vowed to continue the hard work that had taken him this far in the industry and always make his audience smile with his music, especially with 'Sagar Wali Qawwali'. Hailing from Delhi's Jamnapaar, Sagar was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Despite humble beginnings, his ambitions and aspirations remain undeterred and persistent. In the initial years of his career, he played guitar at Jagrans. He also went to play in bars. In 2010, Sagar formed a band and led as a guitarist and then eventually tried his hand at singing. In 2014, a significant moment came in his life as he participated in the reality show 'India's Raw Star', where he was amongst the Top 6 finalists. He kept on working hard to achieve his goals. He enhanced his skills with every passing year. And with his talent, he has made a mark on Qawwali scene in India. Inspired by the qawwali legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a couple of years ago, Sagar embarked on a new path by choosing the qawwali genre as a full-fledged profession. Today, his 'Sagar Wali Qawalli' brand has transcended national borders, conducting shows in the US, UK and UAE. Sagar, a Delhiwala with big dreams in his eyes, learnt everything about music on his own. 'I have never received professional training in music. My experiences taught me everything about different aspects of music. Performing guitar at devotional jagratas taught me a lot. I used to observe people singing. I used to wonder how they could sing for so long at shows. Maine fir bars mein guitar bajaya, Cabret dance mein bajaya, purane and naye gaane mein, paisa bhi kamaya aur seekha bhi,' he told ANI. 'Whatever I have learnt from childhood till now, I incorporated it to form my 'Sagar Wali Qawaali'. What I have learnt so far after making mistakes, I will produce something better using all of that later. Though he does not have a professional guru in his life, he never forgets how his mother played a crucial role in fulfilling his dreams. 'I learnt everything while on the job. I did not have that kind of financial condition to take training. I did not have a teacher. My mother gave me Rs 2400 for learning the guitar for three months. When that money was spent, my learning was over. I started teaching kids. One of those kids asked me 'Woh waala gaana seekhna hai'. I would tell him that I would teach him two days later. I would first learn that song myself and then teach it to them. There was no YouTube or anything like that back then,' Sagar shared. Through his unique fusion of traditional qawwali with modern music, Sagar has built a huge fan base across various age groups, including Gen Z and older audiences. 'Sagar Wali Qawwali mein Sagar logo ki dil ki baat kar raha hai islie sab connect kar paate hai. Qawwali is not what it used to be earlier. Audience taste has evolved a lot over the years. Keeping the audience's interests in mind, artistes have also changed their ways of performing. My audience starts with children. I feel so happy when I see kids singing my version of 'Sanson Ki Mala Pe'. I feel blessed that music has the ability to attract audiences across generations,' he said. And recently, Delhiites got lucky as they witnessed the magic of 'Sagar Wali Qawwali'. On June 8, Sagar performed live in his hometown at a sold-out show organised by Team Innovation. The entire KD Jhadav stadium reverberated with Sagar's dynamic voice. Of course, credits also go to brand members for elevating his lively performance. Sagar is now all set to entrall Mumbaikars and his audience in Kolkata with a unique blend of Sufi, classical, and modern music. (ANI)

Roshan Mathew says his first Hindi project helped him correct ‘wrong approach' to acting; admits he was ignoring the camera during early Malayalam projects

Actor Roshan Mathew has recently opened up about his busy career in Bollywood, despite being a Mollywood star. He gained popularity with his role in Darlings, and his recent OTT series Kankhajura has received much appreciation. The actor admitted that although his roots are in the Malayalam film industry, he made his debut as an actor with the Hindi series 'Tanlines' in 2015. Roshan Mathew about his role in Kankhajura In an interview with Hindustan Times, Roshan said playing in Kankhajura was exciting because it marked his first time portraying a grey-shaded character—especially in Hindi, where audiences mostly know him as the softer Zulfi from Darlings. He found the change both refreshing and fun. Kankhajura Trailer: Roshan Mathew, Mohit Raina and Sarah Jane Dias Starrer Kankhajura Official Trailer When asked about his appearance and the roles he plays, Roshan admitted that physical appearance plays a significant role in casting choices. He shared that he is glad Kankhajura's director, Chandan Arora, chose him for the role. Roshan about his career in Bollywood and Mollywood Roshan shared that returning to Bollywood feels like coming full circle. He elaborated, 'My first project in front of the camera—where I actually started having fun with the medium—was Tanlines. Proshit Roy, who directed it, played a huge part in helping me make friends with the camera. I had done a couple of films in Malayalam, but they hadn't been released. But I was going about it with the wrong approach. I was completely ignoring the camera and pretending like I was on stage. Proshit changed that for me. I owe a lot to him. So, if you think about it, getting to do another series in Hindi is a strange kind of homecoming." About Kankhajura Kankhajura also features Mohit Raina, Sarah Jane Dias, and Trinetra Haldar in key roles and is currently streaming on OTT.
