OPEN// Egyptian, Comorian FMs discuss fostering bilateral relations
CAIRO, March 11 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed in a phone call with Comorian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mbae Mohamed, ways of fostering bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in priority fields, as well as coordinating positions on regional and international issues of common concern.
During the phone conversation, Abdelatty expressed appreciation of Comorian President Azali Assoumani's participation in the extraordinary Arab summit on March 4 in Cairo, lauding the Comoros' effective role in supporting the joint Arab action.
The foreign minister emphasized Egypt's willingness to continue offering capacity-building programs to qualify Comorian national cadres, in addition to backing the Comoros' efforts to achieve sustainable development.
The top Egyptian diplomat affirmed Egypt's keenness to foster trade and investment cooperation with the Comoros, as well as encouraging Egyptian companies to explore available investment opportunities in the Comoros.
The two ministers agreed to proceed with implementing a number of bilateral agreements to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
The pair underlined the importance of keeping consultation in the coming period to bolster mechanisms of joint cooperation and coordinating positions in regional and international forums, in a way that contributes to achieving stability and development on the African continent. (MENA)

Egyptian diplomat Mohamed Idris appointed AU permanent observer to UN - Foreign Affairs
The African Union (AU) has appointed Egyptian diplomat Mohamed Idris as its permanent observer to the United Nations. It also highlighted President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's leadership of the AU's Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development dossier, and his chairmanship of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of the AU Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). Egyptian FM, US Presidential Adviser discuss African crises
Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a telephone call on Tuesday with Massad Boulos, a senior adviser to the US president for Arab and Middle Eastern affairs and a high-level adviser for Africa, to discuss regional crises, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said. According to a statement from foreign ministry spokesperson Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the call on June 24 involved an exchange of views on developments in Libya, Sudan, and the Great Lakes region. Regarding Libya, Abdelatty emphasised the need to preserve security and stability throughout all Libyan territories, safeguard the state's resources, and respect its unity and territorial integrity. He also stressed the importance of dismantling armed militias to help restore security and stability in the country. On the Sudanese crisis, the foreign minister affirmed Egypt's firm position in support of Sudan, stressing the importance of preserving its unity, stability, national institutions, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He noted Egypt's keenness to engage positively with regional and international efforts aimed at reaching an immediate ceasefire to end the humanitarian suffering faced by the Sudanese people. The spokesperson added that the call also addressed the situation in the Great Lakes region. Abdelatty welcomed US efforts that led to the governments of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Rwanda signing a declaration of principles in Washington. The declaration aims to achieve peace, stability, and economic development in the eastern DRC. The minister stated that this step is an important development towards reaching a lasting peace agreement that enhances the chances for regional stability in the Great Lakes region and the African continent. He added that this is consistent with the efforts of President Trump to advance peace and the peaceful settlement of disputes in the Middle East and Africa.
