Jenn Sterger reopens Brett Favre sexting scandal, says outdated tech helped prove alleged misconduct
More than a decade after the scandal first made headlines, former Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger has reignited the conversation around Brett Favre's alleged misconduct. In a candid interview on the George Janko Show, Sterger revisited the controversial 2008 incident—revealing how the outdated technology of that era helped verify her claims and further exposing the flaws in how the NFL handled the situation.
Jenn Sterger reveals how old voicemails and Sidekick T-mail played a crucial role
During the conversation, Sterger offered a deeper dive into the evidence she received back in 2008 while Favre was quarterbacking for the New York Jets. She stated she never met Favre in person but believes it was him based on the voicemails left on her phone.
"I never met Brett Favre," she said. "The only reason that I assume that it's him is because of the voicemails."
She explained that the nature of early 2000s tech played an unexpected role in exposing the messages.
With no deepfakes or voice-altering apps available back then, she believes the audio clips were genuine. The explicit photos, she noted, were sent via T-mail, a once-popular messaging feature on Sidekick phones.

'Do you know what T-mail is?' she joked. 'Which makes this story so much sadder. It's like the T-mail, the Crocs... like, we can go so many directions with where this went wrong.'
George Janko chimed in on the recklessness of the situation, calling out the lack of caution: 'Very sloppy work.

By the way—for you to be using emails so like no one knows who you are, and then throw a voicemail up is wildly dumb, bro.'
Jenn Sterger's career suffered while Brett Favre walked away with a fine
The fallout for Sterger was significant. She's spoken openly about how the scandal derailed her media career and how she felt abandoned by both the public and the NFL. Meanwhile, Favre, who was married at the time, reportedly admitted to the voicemails but denied sending any explicit content. The NFL fined him $50,000—not for misconduct, but for failing to fully cooperate with the investigation.
Sterger's latest revelations come on the heels of Netflix's release of Untold: The Fall of Favre, a documentary that delves into both the sexting scandal and Favre's alleged involvement in a Mississippi welfare fraud case.

Chandigarh: Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused AAP-led Punjab govt of misusing police force to "obstruct" its 'BJP De Sewadar Aa Gye Ne Tuhade Dwaar' campaign at 39 locations. Punjab BJP state general secretary Anil Sarin said state govt "forcibly stopped the campaign wherein poor and needy people were getting information about central govt's welfare schemes". In a clarification, an spokesperson of the Punjab govt stated the govt had received credible reports that certain private operators were illegally collecting personal data of local residents, allegedly on behalf of political parties. In a separate release, the official added, "The Punjab Police have formed several teams to investigate the camps which are allegedly collecting personal information of individuals in the name of govt schemes. " Sarin called the action "misuse" of police force. 60 more city schools get hoax bomb threats, second such email in a week
New Delhi: Several schools across the city received bomb threats on Wednesday, triggering widespread emergency responses and marking the second time this week that schools in the national capital got such threats. They were later declared a hoax. The email, sent around 8.57pm on Tuesday, was tagged to more than 380 email IDs targeting over 60 schools. Sources said the sender used a VPN to send the mail. Authorities deployed Delhi Police's bomb disposal squads, cybercrime units and dog squads to conduct checks at affected school campuses. Bomb disposal experts used advanced detection equipment to eliminate potential explosive threats. As a precautionary measure, fire tenders and ambulances were stationed outside school premises. No Epstein grand jury transcript unsealing: Judge rejects DOJ's request; testimony called ‘hearsay'
A federal judge in Manhattan has denied the US government's request to unseal grand jury transcripts related to the sex trafficking case against late financier Jeffrey Epstein , saying the records offer limited value compared to the wider case file already held by the department of justice, reported news agency AP. The ruling on Wednesday by US District Judge Richard Berman follows a similar decision by the judge who presided over the case of Ghislaine Maxwell , Epstein's former associate, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of aiding Epstein's abuse of underage girls. In his order, Berman noted that no victims testified before the grand jury and that the only witness was an FBI agent who had "no direct knowledge" of the alleged crimes. The agent's testimony, described as mostly hearsay, was presented over two sessions on June 18 and July 2, 2019, alongside a PowerPoint presentation and a call log - all of which will remain sealed. Berman wrote, 'the grand jury testimony is merely a hearsay snippet of Jeffrey Epstein's alleged conduct,' adding that the motion to unseal the transcripts appeared to be a 'diversion' from the more comprehensive case materials already in the government's possession, as quoted by the agency. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The decision comes amid increased scrutiny over the DOJ's approach to transparency in the Epstein case. Last month, public backlash followed the justice department's statement that it would not release additional documents from the investigation. 'The government is the logical party to make comprehensive disclosure to the public of the Epstein file,' Berman said, criticising the limited nature of the records it sought to unseal. Meanwhile, Maxwell's legal team has indicated willingness to cooperate with the House Oversight Committee, which is seeking her testimony as part of a Republican-led probe. However, her lawyers have requested immunity and access to questions in advance, which the committee has rejected. Chair James Comer said the panel was willing to delay her deposition until after her Supreme Court appeal, expected to be resolved in late September.
