JOHN GOSDEN has dumped jockey Kieran Shoemark after Field Of Gold's narrow defeat in Saturday's 2000 Guineas.
The six-time champion trainer had discussions with co-trainer son Thady earlier this week and they decided to remove the under-pressure rider as the stable's No1.

There has been lots of scrutiny on Shoemark, 29, ever since he replaced Frankie Dettori at Clarehaven Stables.
The yard endured a disappointing 2024 season, with their lowest number of winners since 2013, and a number of Shoemark's rides in big races were called into question.
The Gosden's publicly backed their man, but he again came in for criticism when hot favourite Field Of Gold was beaten just half a length having finished strongly in the Guineas at the weekend.
Gosden, who has never won the colts' Classic, said post-race the horse was 'too far back' to have a chance of catching the eventual winner Ruling Court.
And it proved the breaking point in the Gosden-Shoemark relationship, with the yard now going to put up the best jockey available on their stable stars.
Thady Gosden told the Nick Luck Daily Podcast: "Naturally, since Saturday myself and John have gone through things together and decided that the best policy moving forward for the stable is to adopt the best available rider strategy.
'It's still very early in the season and there's plenty of time left to go but we believe that's the right decision for the stable to have the best available rider alongside of course the significant number of retained riders pre-existing within the yard."
When asked if he hopes Shoemark will still ride for the yard, he added: 'Yes. Of course, it's a best available rider policy and we'll see how that progresses as the year goes on."
Shoemark will ride for the yard at Chester today, including Queen Of Thieves in the Cheshire Oaks.
But he will not ride either of the stable's French 2000 and 1000 Guineas contenders, Detain and Zanzoun, at Longchamp in Paris this weekend.
Colin Keane will get the leg up on Detain while Christophe Soumillon will ride Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Zanzoun in the fillies' race.

‘Man up and get on with it!' – Scots golf legend in astonishing blast at players moaning about US Open rough conditions

COLIN MONTGOMERIE has told the elite golfers who are unimpressed with the tough conditions at the US Open this week to "man up". Oakmont is playing host to the third major of the golf season this week and the rough in particular is brutal. 4 The rough at Oakmont will make things extremely tough st the US Open Credit: Getty 4 Colin Montgomerie had a few choice words for unhappy golfers at the event Credit: Getty 4 The rough is being kept to a uniform five inches by an army of lawnmowers Credit: Getty 4 Tyrrell Hatton takes a shot from the rough during a practice round Credit: EPA It was measured at around five inches deep but the United States Golf Association (USGA) trimmed it down after a series of complaints from the game's top players. The Pennsylvania track is renowned for its difficulty even under normal circumstances - with a reputation as perhaps the hardest golf course in the world - with narrow and sometimes sloping fairways, a litany of penal bunkers and tricky and undulating greens (with a few blind approaches). But things have been ramped up for the US Open, with the greens running even quicker and the rough allowed to grow thicker than usual. An army of lawnmowers have been sent out to keep the rough in check as star players opined that the average amateur golfer wouldn't even FINISH their round. Recent Masters winner Rory McIlroy revealed he shot an 81 (11 over par) in practice, two-time US Open champ Bryson DeChambeau called it "the hardest course you can play right now" and Jhonattan Vegas, who led the PGA Championship last month, went as far as to call the rough "unplayable". But Monty is having none of it. A three-time US Open runner-up - including one at Oakmont in 1994 - Montgomerie said players these days have no excuse for missing the fairways and landing in the suped-up rough. He pointed to improvements in equipment compared to his day and said only harsh winds would be a valid reason for errant shots. Speaking at at Trump International Golf Links, ahead of the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship, Montgomerie, 61, said: 'I was disappointed at the USGA having to cut the rough a wee bit because it was too severe. '[Compare] technology now from 30 years ago. US Open release incredible video of army of lawnmowers to tackle rough as stars brand conditions 'unplayable' 'The golf ball that we were playing with 30 years ago moved around all over the place. It was soft, it went 20 yards shorter. 'Now, the golf club development, the drivers, the irons, the putters, look at the putters now, the development in the putters. 'So, get on with it. For Christ's sake, you've got technology there that is beyond what you would ever, ever dream of. 'Use it and play golf. I mean, at this level, you shouldn't be missing any fairways, unless it's blowing a gale. 'The research and development that's been poured into the game, man up. Yeah, get on with it.' Palace co-owner John Textor would sell shares for Europa League chance

The American, whose Eagle Football Group owns 43 per cent of Palace, has imperilled the club's chance of a first-ever European campaign owing to his involvement with Ligue 1 side Lyon, but is ready to offload his stake to his fellow co-owners in order to bring the saga to an end. UEFA does not allow clubs with the same ownership to compete in the same European competitions in a season. As well as his stake in Palace, the 59-year-old has a controlling stake in the French club, also via Eagle Football. However it is also reported that the European governing body does not consider Textor's influence at Selhurst Park to be decisive and is leaning towards allowing the club into the Europa League regardless. The PA news agency understands no formal decision is likely on Palace's fate until the end of June. Textor has previously spoken of his frustration at how little influence his stake entitles him to, over football matters. Victory for Oliver Glasner's side over Manchester City in last month's FA Cup final gave them their first major trophy and with it a first crack at Europe. However, Nottingham Forest have since written to UEFA to challenge Palace's Europa League spot and in the hope of taking their place. Forest's owner Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Greek side Olympiacos, placed his shares in the club in a blind trust before the governing body's March 1 deadline, anticipating Nuno Espirito Santo's side's European qualification. At present Forest, who finished seventh in last season's Premier League, are set to enter the Conference League but would take Palace's Europa League place, should they be deemed ineligible.
