Adani Group to build Healthcare Temples, initiated from Ahmedabad and Mumbai, says Gautam Adani

India Gazette11-07-2025
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 11 (ANI): Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, on Friday announced that the conglomerate will build Artificial Intelligence-first Healthcare Temples initiated from Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
Speaking at the 5th Annual Conference of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery - Asia Pacific (SMISS-AP) in Mumbai today, Adani said, 'We will be delivering on this promise through the Adani Healthcare Temples --1,000-bed integrated campuses that we will initiate from Ahmedabad and Mumbai.'
These healthcare infrastructures are designed to be world-class, affordable, AI-first healthcare ecosystems -- and we are proud to have the Mayo Clinic guiding us on the design, implementation, and global standards in medical infrastructure and research, Adani said.
Chairman of the Adani Group further stated the group is preparing for a capital expenditure investment of nearly 100 billion US dollars over the next five years, adding that the these investments are the manifestation of the future of India.
Adani Group Chairman said that the scale and pace of this investment and its commitment are unprecedented in India's private sector history.
In a stirring address tracing his entrepreneurial journey, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, reflected on the formative experiences and bold decisions that helped build one of India's largest infrastructure conglomerates.
Adani began by recounting his early days in Mumbai, where his first commission deal earned Rs 10,000 from a Japanese buyer, which was less about the money and more about the realisation that beliefs must always outpace doubts.
Highlighting the essence of entrepreneurship, Adani stated, 'It never begins with a grand vision; It begins with a spark of conviction; It begins with the courage to act, even when the future is uncertain, and it begins with the willingness to dream alone.'
He recalled being called back to Ahmedabad in 1981 to run his brother's PVC film factory at the age of 19. This experience, he said, gave him invaluable lessons in resilience, people management, and navigating the challenges of the Licence Raj.
'It taught me the resilience needed to manage daily operational challenges. I got exposed to the complexities of managing people, especially factory workers. And I learnt the challenges of the Licensed Raj, where just a few companies control the landscape and did not want any change,' Adani added.
Adani also mentioned the Group's success of the Mundra project in Gujarat.
'It all started in Mundra with the objective to build a salt export jetty along with a US partner. To make a long story short, the partner backed out, and we were left to build the jetty by ourselves. Around this time in 1995-96, Gujarat pioneered a Public-Private Partnership policy for port development, aiming to tap private sector capabilities. We dived right in. Keep in mind, we had never laid a brick before. Almost everyone called it madness. A port in a marshland to be built by a team with no construction experience!' he added.
Adani emphasised that Mundra was more than just a port. 'Mundra is the manifestation of a belief made real,' he stated.
Mundra is home to India's largest multi-cargo port, the world's largest private single-site thermal power plant, a massive integrated solar and wind manufacturing hub, and clusters of industries including petrochemicals and copper smelting.
He noted that the journey that started in Mundra has now extended across India, making Adani Group the world's second-largest solar power company and builder of the world's largest single-site hybrid renewable park of 30 GW over 500 sq km. The company is now India's largest private airport operator, handling over 25 per cent of passenger traffic and 38 per cent of air cargo.
With India's largest ports and logistics network, Adani said the Group now handles 30 per cent of the country's seaborne cargo and operates an integrated energy business -- spanning thermal and renewable generation, LNG, LPG, battery storage, EV charging, hydrogen, mining, and more.
He also highlighted the Group's growing presence in cement manufacturing, aerospace and defence, data centres, and real estate. (ANI)

108 ambulance drivers call off stir after two days post govt intervention

Ranchi: The 108 ambulance services resumed operations on Wednesday evening following the intervention of the state health department to end the impasse which was on since Monday. The Jharkhand Pradesh Ambulance Karmachari Sangh (JPAKS) agreed to end their indefinite stir after reaching an agreement with the state govt during a meeting. All ambulance staff returned to duty, restoring emergency medical response services across the state and bringing relief to patients. The breakthrough came during a meeting chaired by additional chief secretary (ACS) of the health, medical education and family welfare department, Ajoy Kumar Singh. The discussion was attended by senior health officials, including Shashi Prakash Jha, MD of Jharkhand State Health Society, Abu Imran, MD of Jharkhand Medical and Health Infrastructure Development Corporation, Praveen Prakash, joint commissioner from the transport department, and Pankaj Kumar Sinha, state nodal officer for 108 and 104 services. The meeting focused on addressing the union's four-point charter of demands, which included fair wages in line with skilled labour norms, implementation of the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) scheme from August, and proper compensation for overtime work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She Was Everyone's Dream Girl In 90's, This Is Her Now The Latest Article Undo The ACS directed officials to ensure that all ambulance employees receive appropriate wages and overtime payments. He also instructed that EPF benefits be provided starting August, with consent letters obtained from staff earning over Rs 15,000. From September, salaries will be disbursed with EPF deductions. Drivers and EMTs have been asked to upload their driving licences and professional certificates respectively to the designated WhatsApp group for verification. The state has emphasised that strict disciplinary action will be taken in case of future violations of work conduct. While the resolution has brought temporary relief, the disruption already caused significant hardship to residents across various districts in Ranchi. Several residents reported being forced to arrange expensive private ambulances during emergencies. Praveen Mandal, a resident of Lalpur, said, "My father fell down from the stairs at his office and suffered a bone fracture. I immediately called for a 108 ambulance, but there was no response. In that moment of urgency, we had no choice but to hire a private vehicle and ended up paying Rs 1,200. It's heartbreaking that emergency services failed us when we needed them the most." According to striking workers, a written notice regarding the protest was submitted to the health department 14 days in advance, but no concrete steps were taken. Notably, out of 425 ambulance drivers, 75 were on strike.

'One Nation One Election' Could Boost Economy, Cut Disruptions: Experts NK Singh & Prachi Mishra To JPC

They suggested that holding national and state elections together could significantly enhance India's economic growth, investment climate, and governance efficiency On Wednesday, a meeting of the joint parliamentary committee (JPC) led by BJP lawmaker PP Chaudhary took place in Parliament discussing the crucial One Nation One Election legislation. The subject of the day was titled 'Interaction with Shri NK Singh, former Rajya Sabha Member, Chairman of Fifteenth Finance Commission of India, former Member of the Planning Commission, former Revenue Secretary, Secretary to former Prime Minister and noted economist on the said Bills, assisted by Dr Prachi Mishra, Prof of Economics and Head & Director of Isaac Centre for Public Policy, Ashoka University". A presentation by NK Singh and Prachi Mishra made a compelling economic case for simultaneous elections. They suggested that holding national and state elections together could significantly enhance India's economic growth, investment climate, and governance efficiency. They estimated that real GDP growth is 1.5 percentage points higher around simultaneous elections compared to staggered ones, translating into an economic gain of nearly Rs 4.5 lakh crore in today's terms, equivalent to half of India's health budget or a third of the education budget. They also noted that gross fixed capital formation (GFCF), a proxy for investment activity, is 0.5 percentage points higher after simultaneous elections, reflecting increased confidence among private and foreign investors. However, frequent, staggered elections are said to cause wide-ranging disruptions to economic and social life. Industries such as manufacturing, construction, tourism, and healthcare suffer from repeated cycles of uncertainty, and migrant workers—who constitute nearly a third of India's population—are especially affected. Repeated elections force them to travel home frequently, leading to lost wages and missed voting rights. The impact also extends to education and law enforcement. Primary school enrolment dips by 0.5 percentage points around non-simultaneous elections due to teachers being deployed on election duty and schools doubling as polling stations. Crime rates tend to spike more during staggered polls as police forces remain diverted for longer periods. One of the starkest observations is that India has witnessed elections every single year since 1986, placing the nation in a state of perpetual election mode. This results in the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) being enforced up to four times in five years, restricting policymaking and delaying developmental projects. Moreover, the political consequences of frequent elections include a spillover of populist promises across states and a sharp rise in fiscally unsustainable freebies. Singh warns this trend represents a 'race to the bottom" in fiscal populism. In agriculture, frequent polls create speculative uncertainty over policies like minimum support prices (MSPs), subsidies, and loan waivers, distorting farmer decision-making and hampering long-term planning. The findings are likely to fuel the ongoing debate around the feasibility and desirability of One Nation One Election, with proponents arguing that it could improve governance stability, reduce fiscal populism, and enhance policy continuity. The panel includes members like Supriya Sule (NCP), Mukul Wasnik, Randeep Surjewala, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (all from Congress), Anil Desai (Shiv Sena UBT), and Kalyan Banerjee (TMC). Representing the ruling alliance are Anurag Thakur, Sambit Patra, Bhartruhari Mahtab, Baijayant Panda, Anil Baluni (all from BJP), Shrikant Shinde (Shiv Sena), and Harish Balayogi (TDP), among others. The JPC was constituted during the last winter session of Parliament after the Centre agreed to subject the ONOE Bill to detailed legislative scrutiny. Initially tabled by law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, the committee's membership was later expanded to 39, accommodating demands from the opposition.
