Our Yorkshire Farm's Clive Owen looks to the future as he says 'this is my last day'

Daily Mirror4 days ago
Our Yorkshire Farm star Clive Owen, who appears in the Channel 5 series alongside wife Amanda, was forced to take some time off from the farm for an important reason
Our Yorkshire Farm favourite Clive Owen was compelled to step away from his agricultural duties as he underwent hip surgery.

During a repeat broadcast of Our Farm Next Door, which screens today, Clive revealed his apprehension about the procedure, which meant temporarily abandoning his farming responsibilities.

Speaking directly to the camera, Clive remarked: "I don't want folk to think I just stand around and ponder."

He subsequently revealed: "Tomorrow, I have got to be in hospital for half 7 in the morning for a new hip. So, I wouldn't say I am really looking forward to it, but that is what's going to happen, so this is my last day for a little while.
"I'll be back, and I'll just have to tell everyone what to do and drive them all mad," reports the Manchester Evening News.

Clive confessed: "I am going to be a bit nervous, but I am alright with it, I'll do exactly what they tell me, and the next thing you wake up and it's done.
"I have had one you see so I know the procedure, like it or not that is what is happening tomorrow."
Later in the programme, Clive is shown instructing his sons on overseeing the farm whilst he recuperated.

Despite his circumstances, Clive kept his wit intact, acknowledging, "I have definitely been a horrible patient because I am impatient."
He showed appreciation for his sons, stating, "I couldn't have managed without these lads to do what needed doing. So yeah, they have done very well."

Clive hinted that his lads might carry on leading: "It means from now on they needn't hand the reins back to me, they can just carry on.
"I could find myself redundant," he joked, before turning to his son and asking, "What do you think, Miley?"
He emphasised the core of family farming: "That is what family farms are all about, everybody has to help."
Our Farm Next Door is available to watch on All4.

BTS's K-pop fandom explained as new documentary lands in cinemas

BTS Army: Forever We Are Young is currently in cinemas, and tells the story of the band's devoted fanbase. Earlier this month, BTS fans were thrilled to hear that the K-Pop sensations will be returning next spring with their first studio album since 2020. ‌ For those eagerly awaiting new content from the group, a brand-new documentary has just been released. ‌ BTS Army: Forever We Are Young, now showing in cinemas, pays tribute to the dedicated fans who have propelled these 21st century pop legends to global fame. ‌ According to the film's synopsis, it "dives into the passionate fandom that catapulted 21st century pop icons BTS into a global household name. "We meet fans at a BTS-focused ReactorCon in Lewisville, Texas, a dance instructor in Seoul who only teaches BTS choreography, and fans who've been organising since 2013 to help BTS dominate the charts." ‌ The synopsis continues: "Defying stereotypes of pop fans as screaming teen girls, ARMY is an intergenerational, culturally savvy, and socially active movement that is as diverse as the world itself. "The film captures the powerful spirit of activism and collectivism that make ARMY a symbol of hope and unity in our ever-fractured world," reports the Manchester Evening News. Most pop enthusiasts are well acquainted with BTS, but how did their ARMY propel the band to worldwide recognition? ‌ How did BTS rise to stardom? Making their debut in 2013, BTS was formed under the K-pop label, Big Hit Entertainment. The seven-member band, made up of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, was initially conceived as a hip-hop group but later found success in pop music. Much of their fame can be attributed to their devoted fanbase ARMY, which stands for 'Adorable Representative M. C. for Youth.' ‌ During the group's formative years, the fandom was determined to transform them into a global sensation - and they delivered spectacular results. As revealed in the documentary, ARMY supporters would dedicate countless hours posting about the band across social media platforms. Additionally, devoted followers would ring radio stations persistently to promote BTS's tracks to broader audiences. ‌ However, their appeals weren't always welcomed warmly. "They'd (radio stations) tell us sometimes to request real music because they're not singing in English," remembers a fan featured in the film. Their unwavering commitment ultimately bore fruit as the band now holds five Grammy Award nominations. ‌ What else has ARMY accomplished? Besides their loyalty to BTS, ARMY has gained recognition for supporting charitable initiatives. In 2020, the fandom matched a $1 million (£755,680) donation made by the group to the Black Lives Matter movement. Previously, in 2017, BTS collaborated with UNICEF for the Love Myself campaign, focused on eliminating violence against children and teenagers. The ARMY rallied behind this mission and united to generate funding.

Roman shoppers are going wild for a dress that's not only enhancing their comfort and confidence but also nailing this season's broderie trend. The retailer's Cotton Broderie Tiered Smock Dress is priced at £40, but with the current discount already applied, fashion fans can snag it for just £30, saving them 25%. Customers have a choice of four stylish colours - classic black and khaki, as well as eye-catching turquoise and pink for those looking to add a splash of colour to their wardrobe. Available in sizes 10 to 20, this adaptable frock is ideal for teaming up with sandals during the heatwave. Made from 100 per cent breathable cotton, the dress is crafted to keep the wearer cool. It boasts three quarter length sleeves and a comfy smock style, reports the Manchester Evening News. And customers needn't worry about the smock shape being unflattering, as reviews confirm it has a 'lovely shape' and is 'very flattering'. It's even been hailed as a 'fabulous dress for holidays', with additional compliments for being 'lined'. A glowing five-star review states: "Such a pretty feminine little dress: perfect for hiding lumps and bumps." Another happy customer raved about the pink version, declaring: "Fabulous colour and hides all your bumps." Shop the Roman dress Product Description Some customers have said they have bought several colours to round out their collection. One delighted shopper said: "Love love love these dresses, so pretty and comfortable to wear, true to size, I now own five of these in different, colours can't resist them." A newcomer to Roman was so thrilled with their buy that they headed straight back to the site for additional purchases. They said: "Really lovely dress, bought as a last minute extra dress for long trip and wore it over and over again, never bought from Roman before but just ordered another couple of dresses on the strength of this purchase." But one buyer knocked off a star from their rating as they felt the frock was too short. They wrote: "Nice style dress, looks nice with the ties left loose, however doesn't sit right on the neck if tied. Nice shade of Khaki. I would prefer a few inches longer though at 5ft 1ins it sits on my knees." For shoppers hunting for a lengthier smock frock with comparable styling, Nobody's Child stocks the Green Broderie Anglaise Tiered Lee Midi Dress, presently slashed by 50% to £48 from £95. Another alternative can be found at Debenhams - the Warehouse Broderie Drawstring Waist Midi Dress, coming in at £65. Buyers have voiced their adoration for the garment, revealing they 'got so many compliments' and dubbing it the 'best summer dress out there'. Yet it's been recommended that prospective purchasers 'should go down a size'. One critic praised the Roman frock 's adaptability, emphasising its year-round wearability. The review gushes: "Fab dress, true to size. I love it as it doesn't cling and its a good length. It's lined too so will go through the seasons with sandals then leggings and boots." This makes the bargain price of £30 even more tempting, given the array of occasions you can don this number. If you're prioritising summer style, this could well be the most adaptable addition to your wardrobe this season. Another thrilled shopper shared: "Love it put away for my holidays it's nice and cool really nice length looks great with my wedge sandals can't wait to wear it." Meanwhile, another customer enthused: "I have already bought this dress in black and loved it so much I wanted it in an another colourway."
