In a step towards community-led wildlife conservation, a resident of Haratan village in Purulia became the first beneficiary of a community-managed seed goat bank. The initiative, led by Human & Environment Alliance League (HEAL) and supported by WWF India's Conservation Catalyst Programme, aims to foster coexistence between people and wild carnivores by replacing livestock lost to predation. The incident occurred on July 20, when Bimal Mahato, a goat herder from Haratan, found the remains of a partially eaten goat from his herd in the forest.
HEAL volunteers helped verify the incident and relayed it to the seed goat bank committee in Simni. On July 24, Mahato was given a replacement goat during a community handover event.

Tiger Day felicitation for green warriors
1 2 3 Kolkata: Ahead of the Global Tiger Day on July 29, two tiger rescue teams were felicitated in the city on Friday. While one of the teams led the massive operation to rescue tigress Zeenat that kept foresters on their toes for 21 days after it entered the state from the neighbouring Odisha last Dec, the other team, from Sundarbans Raidighi range, captured a tiger at Nagenabad in South 24 Parganas forest division after it entered human habitation and injured a member of the quick response team — Ganesh Shyamal — this Feb. UET-UG 2025 results announced by SKUAST-K; counselling details awaited SKUAST Kashmir UET-UG 2025 result: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has officially declared the results of the University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Programmes (UET-UG) 2025. Candidates who appeared for the written examination can now check, download, and print their scorecards by logging in to the official admissions portal — The UET-UG 2025 was conducted across various centres in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for admission to undergraduate programmes, excluding in Artificial Intelligence and in Environmental and Disaster Studies. As per the official notification issued by the Office of the Controller of Examinations, the results have been made available online from 12:00 noon onwards. Result declared following release of final answer key The final and revised answer key for the OMR-based written examination was notified under reference No. AU/CoE/U-1/2025/693-696.
