Bhubaneswar: As Odisha gears up for the grand Rath Yatra, Reliance Industries Limited, in close collaboration with the Puri district administration, has launched a comprehensive series of efforts to ensure that visitors enjoy a safe, comfortable, and enriching journey.
The annual chariot festival in Puri draws lakhs of devotees who gather to witness the majestic procession of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple.

Key highlights of Reliance's Seva initiative:
• Anna Seva: Reliance Foundation is serving hot, wholesome meals to lakhs of devotees and police personnel at six key locations along the yatra route, ensuring no one goes hungry.
• Hygiene Focus: Installing contactless sanitisers at food stalls, supplying garbage bags for cleanliness in collaboration with the municipality, and extending sanitation amenities to police camps.
• Crowd Management: Collaborating with municipal and police authorities to guide devotees with clear direction boards and markers, ensuring smooth navigation for visitors from afar.
• Volunteer Support: Over 4,000 trained volunteers, wearing identifiable uniforms, will manage crowds and oversee water points to keep devotees hydrated in the summer heat.
• Comfort in Heat: Distributing over 1.5 lakh eco-friendly hand fans to help pilgrims beat the heat.
• Police Support: Setting up 100 police aid posts with shelters for on-duty personnel, offering accessible help points for devotees.
• Weather Preparedness: Keeping the rainy season in mind, 3,500 raincoats have also been distributed among police staff. Volunteers, municipal staff, and police personnel will be provided with refreshment kits.

Digha (West Bengal) [India], June 26 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Lord Jagannath temple in Digha in West Bengal on Thursday, ahead of Jagannath Rath Yatra scheduled to start on June 27. CM Mamata Banerjee said, 'Lord Jagannath temple has become a major place of pilgrimage. The Rath Yatra will be held on a 1 km route from 9 am to 4 pm tomorrow. The aarti will be performed at 2.30 pm. Our ministerial team has arrived here for this.' The Rs 250 crore temple in Digha, constructed over 20 acres, was inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on April 30, 2025. The temple, inspired by the 12th-century Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, houses the same deities. Meanwhile, the temple town of Odisha's Puri is all set to witness the Jagannath Rath Yatra, 2025. During the festival, devotees draw the grand chariots of the three deities--Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balabhadra, and sister goddess Subhadra--to Gundicha Temple, where the deities reside for a week and then return to the Jagannath temple. On Wednesday, June 11, Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, held the sacred bathing ritual on the occasion of Snana Purnima in Puri. The three deities were ceremonially bathed with 108 pitchers of sacred water. This ritual marks a significant lead-up to the grand Rath Yatra. The Ratha Yatra, also known as the Chariot Celebration of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra, is one of the most prominent Hindu festivals in Puri, Odisha. This festival takes place every year on the second day of the Shukla Paksha in the months of June or July. The three chariots are built anew every year ahead of the annual chariot festival. (ANI)

Civil, police administration on high alert as Puri prepares for Rath Yatra
The seaside pilgrim town of Puri is set to celebrate the Rath Yatra festival on Friday, with the administration being ready to smoothly conduct the event. The civil and police administrations are on high alert as lakhs of devotees will witness the annual event under tight security. By the grace of Mahaprabhu (Lord Jagannath), we are fully prepared to conduct a smooth Rath Yatra on Friday. We are getting complete support and cooperation from the servitors. All arrangements are in place to make the mega event successful, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee told reporters on Thursday. After completion of all rituals, the pulling of chariots of the sibling deities - Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath - will begin at 4 pm. Lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad are expected to participate in the event. About one lakh have reached Puri by Thursday evening, police sources said. Some of them had the opportunity to witness the Nabajouban Darshan (youthful appearance) of the trinity. The deities appeared before the devotees after a fortnight. The public darshan' was stopped after the bathing ritual on June 11. "The deities do not appear before devotees since it is believed they fall ill after the bathing ritual. They remain in quarantine at 'Anasar Ghar' (isolation room) for a fortnight before the Rath Yatra," said Bhaskar Mishra, a researcher in the Jagannath culture. Keeping in view the huge footfall, Odisha DGP Y B Khurania said elaborate security arrangements have been made for the event. The town is heavily fortified with deployment of approximately 10,000 security personnel, including eight companies of Central Armed Police Forces. Khurania said that for the first time, an Integrated Command and Control Centre has been opened in Puri to monitor the entire festival from close quarters. Over 275 AI-enabled CCTV cameras have been installed across Puri and on the roads to Konark, 35 km away and famous for the 13th-century Sun Temple, for surveillance. This apart, the DGP said that the National Security Guard (NSG) snipers will take positions on rooftops along Grand Road in front of the temple. Police drones, anti-sabotage teams, bomb squads, and dog squads are also deployed. The Marine Police, Coast Guard, and Indian Navy will secure the seafront, he said. Meanwhile, IMD in its evening bulletin forecast said thunderstorms with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur in several districts including Puri on Friday. While the Indian Railways runs 365 trains to Puri, the Odisha government has engaged around 800 buses to transport devotees from different districts.

Festive spirit grips JSR, ISKCON to lead Yatra
1 2 Jamshedpur: A festive spirit gripped the Steel City as devotees and enthusiasts are keenly preparing for Rath Yatra which will be observed on a grand scale on Friday. The main attraction of the chariot-pulling event will be organised by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The chariot of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra will be taken out from the Andhra Bhakta Shri Ram Mandiram in Bistupur and will end at the vehicles parking zone near Sakchi roundabout. The 4.5 km journey of the holy trinity will travel through Bistupur main road, Jusco roundabout via Gopal Maidan, and will reach Sakchi Bada roundabout through Straight Mile Road and Keenan Stadium before culminating at the last destination point. The three beautifully decorated floral chariots, each 45 feet in height, will host Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra on each of the vehicles. "Over 1,000 volunteers from different social and religious groups, besides educational institutions, have pledged to come together to assist in regulating the chariot pulling of the three deities," said ISKCON Jamshedpur head Swami Padmanabh Jagannath Das. Throughout the journey route, the organisers will serve sharbat, refreshments, and prasadam to devotees and chariot hoppers. Meanwhile, the district police have banned the movement of traffic on both sides of the Voltas Building-Regal Building stretch in Bistupur on Friday to ensure smooth journey of the chariots. The traffic will be diverted through Voltas Building-Tulsi Bhawan-Dhatkidih-Loyola School traffic signal-Jubilee Park Road to Sakchi. The entry of heavy commercial vehicles into the city will be prohibited from 2 pm to 11 pm. "Traffic diversion, security arrangements, and felling of outgrown tree branches are part of the measures planned for the yatra route," said deputy SP (traffic) Sriniraj Kumar.
