Neil Robertson beats Elliot Slessor to book place in Saudi Arabia Masters final
Former world champion Robertson was never headed in Jeddah as he made the 39th ranking final of his career.
"This is the biggest tournament we have until the World Championship," Robertson told TNT Sports.
"With the ranking points available, I don't have to worry about playing in the Invitational or the Tour Championship.
"I set a goal at the start of the season to get into the Tour Championship.
"That was my only goal and I've done that already in the first tournament. It's nice it takes care of the rest of the season."
Englishman Slessor, 29th in the official world rankings but set to rise several places after picking up the biggest cheque of his career, won the third frame with a 92 break.
Robertson responded with 93 against his regular practice partner and a crucial pink down the rail in the seventh frame put him in control at 5-2.
"We practice a lot with each other and there's usually heavy scoring," said the Australian.
"We tried to make things happen but the balls ran awkward, and we both missed some tricky pots that led to scrappy frames.
"Knowing him well, if I wasn't playing him I would have wanted him to win the match. It's quite tough but you've got to put that aside."
Robertson sealed matters with his second 93 break and will play Ronnie O'Sullivan or Chris Wakelin in Saturday's final.

It also means $125,000 will go from BMW to the Evans Scholars Foundation, which oversees a scholarship program for caddies. 'I don't really necessarily need a new car. I'm pretty happy with what I've got,' the 23-year-old Bhatia said. 'I think either I'll give it to my caddie or figure something out to where I can donate it to charity or something.'

The West Londoner made the brave decision to start fast, pinging orthodox jabs up at the 6ft 6in Croatian's handsome and hard dome. Hrgovic pushed him back with body attacks but when he popped out a limp jab, Adeleye landed the shot of the round, an overhand right, that should have banked the opener for him with the judges. The only defeat on Hrgovic's 18-1 career came last year when he battered Daniel Dubois for a few rounds before being stopped over gruesome cuts around both eyes. The bookies' favourite remained dangerous, plodding toward Adeleye like Adams Family butler Lurch. Hrgovic kept ploughing into the pugilist with the Portobello Road tattoo but Adeleye grinned back at his best blows. Adeleye listened and started the session with some crisp scoring shots but it was short lived as his engine betrayed him again after around 30 seconds. Adeleye was whacked by a massive right hand at the start of the eighth but he stuck his tongue out and roared in the silent little arena before getting dropped and taking a count. Hrgovic was cautious and clever in the final two sessions but Adeleye emptied the tank and came up just short in a joyride he can be proud of.
