Elle Fanning to Play Effie in 'Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' (Exclusive)
Caesar is the eccentric host of the Hunger Games. Stanley Tucci portrayed an older version of the character in the series' first four films that kicked off with The Hunger Games hitting theaters in 2012.
Previously announced castmembers for Sunrise on the Reaping include Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak, Mckenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Maya Hawke, Lili Taylor and Ben Wang. THR's exclusive casting reporting has included Ralph Fiennes as the diabolical President Snow; Molly McCann and Iona Bell as standout book characters Louella and Lou Lou, respectively; and Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket.
Lawrence helms the movie from a script by Billy Ray that adapts Collins' book. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson produce for Color Force, while Cameron MacConomy executive produces.
'Kieran's scene-stealing presence and undeniable charm are perfect for Caesar Flickerman, the sickeningly watchable host of Panem's darkest spectacle,' says Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erin Westerman. 'Stanley Tucci made Caesar unforgettable — and now Kieran will make the role entirely his own.'
Jacobson adds, 'Kieran's magnetism, wit and unpredictability make him a perfect fit for Caesar Flickerman. A host like Caesar transforms brutality into entertainment, and an actor as layered as Kieran makes sure we don't look away.'
Meredith Wieck and Scott O'Brien oversee Sunrise on the Reaping for Lionsgate. Phil Strina handled the deal on behalf of the studio.
The book Sunrise on the Reaping takes place in Panem on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, 24 years before the events in The Hunger Games, the first novel that published in 2008. The franchise's first five movies have surpassed $3.3 billion at the worldwide box office, with the initial four films led by Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.
Culkin won the best supporting actor Academy Award earlier this year for A Real Pain and is a three-time Emmy nominee for Succession. He currently stars on Broadway in Glengarry Glen Ross alongside Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr. Culkin is represented by WME, Brookside Artist Management and Relevant.

Halle Berry Reveals Why She Hasn't Married Singer-Songwriter Van Hunt
Halle Berry once donned an all-leather jumpsuit — but will she be trading it in for an all-white wedding number? On Tuesday's broadcast of 'TODAY with Jenna & Friends,' the Oscar winner and her partner, singer-songwriter Van Hunt, joined host Jenna Bush Hager as guests — marking their first on-air interview together as a couple. With flowers in hand, Hunt joined Berry to gush about their relationship, though he admitted to that he's ready to take their love to the next level. 'So I put out the proposal, and it's still on hold, as you can see,' Hunt told the outlet. 'It's just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.' But Berry explained her reluctance to wed in the interview, grounded in a past where not every happily-ever-after went according to script. 'Well, I've been married three times,' she said. 'Van has been married once, and so no, we don't feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don't.' The Oscar-winner predicted they'll likely tie the knot eventually, but said there's no rush. Berry said the 'I do' isn't about tradition; it's about timing. During her sit-down with Hager, Berry joked that her relationship with Hunt is 'the longest' she's ever been in. 'When you find your person, you find your person — and I now have found my person,' she said with a smile. Blumhouse Acquires SAW Rights From Twisted Pictures; James Wan Comes Back to the Franchise — GeekTyrant
Blumhouse is stepping into the blood-soaked legacy of Saw . Jason Blum's horror studio is acquiring the rights to Twisted Pictures' share of the Saw franchise. This is a big and interesting move, especially since it brings James Wan, who directed the first film in the franchise, back into the franchise. Lionsgate still owns 50% of the Saw IP and will remain an active partner in future projects. But Twisted Pictures' Mark Burg and Oren Koules, who've steered the ship from the beginning, are handing off their share, signaling a major shift for the long-running horror brand. At the moment, no new Saw film is officially in development. Still, this shake-up makes it inevitable that more Jigsaw mayhem is coming. For horror fans, this will mark a fresh era for the franchise. Blumhouse has already worked with both Wan and Leigh Whannell on hits like Insidious and The Invisible Man . Reuniting with the Saw universe could spark a tonal recalibration, especially after the stalled development of Saw XI. That project, once aimed at a September 2025 release, hit a wall when Lionsgate and producers couldn't align creatively. A script from Saw veterans Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan had been submitted, with Saw X director Kevin Greutert on board. But despite Saw X pulling in $112M globally on an $18.3M opening weekend, plans for the eleventh film were shelved. The original Saw was made on a shoestring budget and exploded out of the gate with an $18.6M opening, eventually grossing $104M worldwide. Over time, the franchise racked up over $1 billion in global box office, and its influence spread into games, comics, haunted house attractions, Halloween masks… you name it. At the heart of the franchise is John 'Jigsaw' Kramer and his disciples trapping victims in horrific moral games, doling out punishment and enlightenment through gore and psychological terror. With Blumhouse now in the game, and Wan potentially closer to the property than he's been in years, the question is no longer if Saw will return—but how. Let the games begin… again. Source: Deadline
