Matthew James Dullard faces court on attempted cop murder charge
Mr Dullard was due to enter his pleas on Monday morning to the allegation he tried to murder Brevet Sergeant Mark Woods during a routine traffic stop in March last year.
Police allege Mr Dullard, from Victoria, struck Sergeant Woods with his vehicle on the Barrier Highway at Ucolta, about 250km north of Adelaide, and then fled the scene.
A police chopper tracked him for 45 minutes before police apprehended him.
Sergeant Woods, based at Orroroo, suffered non life-threatening injuries in the alleged hit-and-run and paramedics flew him to Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

Police have charged Mr Dullard with attempted murder, aggravated endangering life, causing harm by dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident after causing harm by careless driving.
In his earlier appearances, the court was told the 43-year-old man had been diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2019.
He initially refused to co-operate with either the police or any legal representation.
On Monday, Director of Public Prosecutions Martin Hinton KC asked Justice Julie McIntyre to adjourn the matter for two weeks, telling her he needed time to query a doctor about their report into Mr Dullard's mental competence.

'I've considered the report … I have a number of questions for the doctor,' he said.
'I don't know yet whether in light of the answers to those questions I'll be seeking a further report or will determine to concede mental incompetence.'
Mr Dullard's defence team did not oppose the request and Justice McIntyre listed July 21 for Mr Dullard's arraignment.
Justice McIntyre allowed Mr Dullard to appear by telephone for his next appearance.

Adelaide star Izak Rankine has reportedly been handed a season-ending ban for a homophobic slur aimed at a Collingwood player on Saturday night, as explosive new details about the AFL's investigation into his conduct come to light. The contest in which the Crows emerged three-point victors was one of the games of the season, but it was overshadowed by an ugly moment where Rankine allegedly said a gay slur towards his Pies opponent. In the aftermath, the AFL launched a thorough investigation into the on-field comment and reportedly concluded on Tuesday that the conduct was deserving of a season-ending ban, in what would be a brutal blow for the Crows as they push for their first premiership since 1998. As of Wednesday morning, the AFL has not formally revealed the outcome of the investigation. Rankine allegedly called his opponent a f****t, with the alleged incident coming just weeks after West Coast's Jack Graham was banned for four matches for calling a GWS player a 'f***ing f****t'. Footy presenter Eddie McGuire claimed he had the early mail on the call on Channel 9's Footy Classified on Tuesday night that the Crows star's season was over. 'Izak Rankine's season is over,' he said. 'Tonight the AFL will send a letter to Adelaide and my understanding is the suspension is for five weeks. His season is finished in 2025. 'The Adelaide Football Club will have the opportunity to appeal the sanction, because they could argue it is unjust.' The reported suspension would see him miss a grand final as even a four-game ban could rub Rankine out for the rest of the season if the Crows won both qualifying and preliminary final. It is understood the Crows have written to the AFL highlighting extenuating circumstances, including another exchange with Collingwood defender Dan Houston. 'Izak Rankine allegedly delivered a similar slur towards a Collingwood opponent in a match several years ago,' Cleary wrote on X on Tuesday night. 'The incident hasn't been lost on Magpies players as the investigation into Rankine ramped up over the last 48 hours.' Adelaide then handed it over to the AFL Integrity Unit, who have conducted their investigation today; both players have been spoken to, Rankine at about 4pm to understand his version of events. 'These are dealt with as summary judgments; there's no Tribunal hearing or the like … in a very real way, I think these have been Andrew Dillon's calls.' Man, 22, shot dead in Sydney's west
A burnt out SUV has been found suburbs away from where a 22-year-old man was gunned down in Sydney, in what was the city's second fatal shooting in as many days. Detectives investigating the 'targeted' Winston Hills attack were told the victim stumbled down Regiment Grove attempting to seek help from nearby homes before he collapsed. Photos from the scene show blood smeared on the front door of a house on the secluded street near where the man was found in the city's west. The man had been sitting in a car when he was shot in the chest about 7pm on Tuesday night before being rushed to Westmead Hospital, but he could not be saved. 'Police have been told after the man was shot, he attempted to seek aid from nearby homes; however, became unresponsive before emergency services arrived,' NSW Police said. Emergency services were later called to a car fire on Bounty Place, Old Toongabbie about 11.15pm. Police said on Wednesday morning the two crime scenes – located about 5km apart – were believed to be linked. Investigations under Strike Force Karlgain were ongoing and further details were expected on Wednesday. It follows the deadly shooting of 39-year-old father Gilbert Shino outside a pub in Sydney's inner west on Sunday night. Mr Shino had been with friends at The Harold Hotel in Forest Lodge watching a UFC event before the attack unfolded when they left about 6.40pm. Maradona Yalda, 31, was also shot multiple times but survived the attack. It has been revealed Mr Yalda – who has links to Assyrian street gang DLASTHR – had arrived in Australia only days earlier and was warned he could be in danger. Mr Shino has been remembered online as the 'life of the party' who was 'always smiling' and 'touched every person who had the blessing of knowing him'. 'He was a devoted husband and a loving father to two beautiful girls who adored him more than anything in this world,' a friend wrote in an online fundraiser. 'His family was his everything, and he would have moved mountains to make sure they were cared for and loved.' His wife Natasha wrote on Instagram 'why did you have to leave us Gib?' 'We are going to be so lost without you. I can't live without you,' she wrote. 'You are my heart and my light.'

Tragic clues to Sydney couple's double death from CBD overpass
A couple who were found dead beneath an overpass in Sydney's CBD had been unsuccessful in trying to have a baby and has previously threatened to self-harm, according to reports. Angela Nesbitt and Steven Dash were found by emergency services on Harbour St in under the A4 Western Distributor overpass about 9.45am on Saturday. The cause of death is suspected to be a double suicide. The married couple believed to be in their 40s had both died before emergency services arrived. A picture has emerged of the tragic last hours of the couple, from Sydney's' south, before their death. At around 8.55am the same day, Ms Nesbitt and Mr Dash, who were married in 2022, were asked to leave Sydney's Star casino. Security guards were concerned by their 'erratic' behaviour, reported The Daily Telegraph. A comment was allegedly made about self-harming to security, who then contacted police who were trying to locate the pair when the tragedy unfolded. It's not known how the couple went from The Star to Harbour Street but it would only have been about a 20 minute walk. The couple were struggling to have a baby and were on multiple online surrogacy and fertility forums. Around Christmas 2023, the couple posted a smiling picture of themselves and stated that they were 'looking for an egg done range'. A single round of IVF can cost up to $15,000. The average patient usually requires a minimum of three rounds of IVF treatment, with a total cost approaching $50,000. Meanwhile, The Daily Telegraph has published reports that police responded to an incident in 2024 when the couple threatened to self-harm while inside Sydney's historic Queen Victoria Building shopping arcade. 'They are known to have a history of mental health issues,' a police source told the newspaper. NSW Police said in a statement the deaths were not being treated as suspicious. 'Following extensive inquiries – and the availability of mobile phone and CCTV footage – investigators have established there are no suspicious circumstances,' the force said in a statement. However police would still be looking into what led up to the couple's death and if they had been gambling.
