Student who ‘does not like running' aims to run 500km in 10 days
Last year, he completed four challenges in four months, which included a 100-mile run and Ironman triathlon.
For the past eight months, Mr Tilson been training for his latest endurance feat.
The University of Exeter student is setting off on Thursday from the city and will be stopping off at schools along the route to talk with students about mindset.
His route will take him from Exeter to Fleet in Hampshire, via Birmingham and Eton and Windsor.
He credits mindset with turning his life around after he lost his mother at the age of 14 to sarcoma, a term that describes bone and soft tissue cancer.
'I'll be talking to them about mindset and my belief that the only voice that limits you in your life is your own,' he said.
'For a large chunk of my life I felt pretty powerless, like I was alone in a crowded room and didn't quite fit in, but through mindset I was able to turn that narrative around.
'I did this by imagining the person I wanted to be and defining the values I wanted to live by – courage, curiosity, kindness and integrity – and using those four values as the framework to evaluate my decisions.'
Mr Tilson, who will graduate later this year with a degree in business management, has been the president of five societies while at the university, including the endurance society IronFit.
He said that while being a good runner, he does not enjoy it.
'For me it's very much a discipline, a way to measure what I can accomplish when I stick with something,' he said.
'But it's a fascinating sport that's taught me so much about resilience and how, even in your lowest moments, like when I did my 100-mile challenge and was struggling to stay in the race, you can turn things around.
'These days I find running meditative, so I think I will enjoy this challenge, especially as I've got such a great team around me.
'Realising that mindset is where true growth lies has really helped me make the most of my time here at Exeter.
'I want to encourage others to take a step forward, be kind to yourself, but always be guided by that vision of the person you want to become.'
In the autumn he will start a graduate job in New York as a business analyst.

The demanding event encompasses a 2km swim, 80km cycle and 18km run, with an exhausted Peaty completing the course in 2:34:37 before a beaming Ramsay embraced him whilst the Olympian battled to regain his composure. Holly and George also offered their congratulations, with the youngster planting a big kiss on his father after brandishing a placard declaring: "I love you. Go Daddy". "Toughest challenge I've ever faced," Peaty confessed following the competition, though he insisted he would "100% do it again." Draper triumphs in sprint finish for best T100 finish
The Isle of Man athlete was challenged by Ironman world medallist Sam Long to the line, but the 25-year-old had enough speed to hold off the American. It sees Draper improve on his 15th-place finish on T100 debut in Vancouver, as he also claimed the title of best of the Brits. 'It was really tough, it is never the most enjoyable way to end a race, but great to get the crowd going,' Draper said. 'I know Sam has a lot of fans here, and I came in as the first Brit, so there were a lot of people cheering for me out on the course. 'I've watched Sam do that with Lionel [Sanders], so it is cool that it is my turn. It is pretty cool to come out on top as well. 'I could see Sam closing on the run, he is a great runner, and I actually wanted him to close a lap earlier because he is also a great block for the headwind. 'He came onto me with about 2k to go and he attacked a couple of times, and I managed to go with him and with 500 to go he said, 'let's do this fair, side-by-side'. 'I am from a bike-racing background, so I thought not everyone likes to play it fair, but you know what, let's do it. 'We came in side by side, and I managed to get the inside line through the final bend and opened up a sprint. I guess I am still only young, so I have still got some speed in the legs.' Draper came out of the 2km swim in 20th place before moving himself up into 13th on the bike, which consists of eight 10km laps, with Long over two minutes behind him. The American began to close him down on the run as he posted one of the fastest times of the day, but was not able to stop Draper in a foot race. Jack Hutchens came home five minutes after Draper as the second-best Brit in 15th with Harry Palmer a place behind him. Draper added: 'Originally, I was the only Brit as a wildcard, and then Harry and Jack were later added, which is great. 'I wanted to see more guys that are so deserving, we are all racing against each other at super high levels. 'My goal was input-focused, so I wanted to swim, bike and run as hard as I could and use who I had around me and race Sam, in the end. 'I was just focusing on doing what I could, and I'd love to compete against those guys and see them do really well, it is definitely not a rivalry as such.'
