
Maharashtra girl beaten to death by father for low marks in NEET mock test
A 17-year-old girl from Sangli district in Maharashtra died after allegedly being brutally beaten by her father for underperforming in a medical National Eligibility cum Entrance Test exam. The accused, identified as Dhondiram Bhagwan Bhosale, a 50-year-old principal of a private educational institution, has been arrested and remanded to police custody.According to police, the victim, Sadhana, a Class 12 student, was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and had recently performed poorly in a preparatory test. Her mother, Preeti Bhosale (41), lodged a police complaint alleging that Dhondiram, enraged over Sadhana's low marks, attacked her with a wooden stick on Friday night.advertisementPolice said the assault left Sadhana critically injured. The next morning, her mother rushed her to a hospital. As her condition worsened, she was referred to the district hospital, where she died during treatment.
Preeti told police that her daughter had scored 95 per cent in her Class 10 exams and aspired to become a doctor. The family's hopes were pinned on her clearing NEET, and the alleged assault followed her disappointing marks in an initial test.After performing her daughter's last rites, Preeti approached the police and filed a formal complaint against her husband. Based on her statement, a case was filed against Dhondiram Bhosale under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.Following the incident, sub-divisional police officer Vipul Patil and police inspector Vinay Vahir visited the crime scene. French woman raped by 28-year-old man in Udaipur; accused on run
JAIPUR: A 30-year-old French national has accused a 28-year-old employee of an event management company of raping her after a party in Udaipur on Monday evening, police said. The suspect, identified by the police as Pushparaj Ojha aka Siddharth, is missing. 'The man took the victim to his rented accommodation in Sukher from the party and sexually assaulted her. The FIR (first information report) was lodged on the woman's complaint,' Goyal said. The suspect, identified by the police as Pushparaj Ojha aka Siddharth, is missing. Badgaon police station house officer Pooran Singh said the woman was being treated at a private hospital. 'We will speak to her in detail once she is discharged,' Singh said. A case has been lodged under Section 64 (1) (rape) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Udaipur's Badgaon police station The woman, who has been in the country since April 17, took a bus from Delhi and reached Udaipur on June 22. 'At night, my friends and I went to The Greek Farm for dinner. We partied then. A bit later in the evening, a man came to our table,' she said in her complaint. The man suggested they step out for a smoke and then convinced her to go for a drive. HT has reviewed the FIR. According to the rape survivor's complaint, she repeatedly asked the man to drop her at her hotel, but the suspect instead drove to his apartment. She said her phone had run out of battery, and she asked him to help her recharge the device. But the man forced himself on her and raped her. Police said the man finally drove her back to the hotel at 6am on Tuesday. Singh said she told her two friends about the rape. 'As she fell sick, they rushed her to a private hospital in the city and also approached the police, who lodged an FIR based on the victim's primary statement,' said Singh. The police officer said a team has been constituted to arrest Pushpraj. 'The French embassy in Delhi has also been informed about the incident,' said Singh.

Karnataka: Police arrest BJP leader Anantkumar Hegde's aides in road rage assault; Minister Parameshwara calls for full probe
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 24 (ANI): Karnataka police arrested the driver and gunman of former BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde in connection with a road rage incident that took place near Dabaspet in Bengaluru Rural district, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The case stemmed from an alleged assault on the driver after a road altercation involving two vehicles on a highway near Nelamangala (Dabaspet). Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, commenting on the matter, said, 'As per the information I have received, it seems that when Anant Kumar Hegde was to arrive on the highway, his driver and gunman stopped a vehicle and assaulted someone. I can't say anything right now, as a full investigation is still pending. They (Hegde's side) have claimed that no assault took place. Let's wait and see what comes out of the investigation.' He further added, 'Near Dabaspet, someone allegedly overtook a vehicle, and in response, Anantkumar Hegde's gunman and driver stopped the car and assaulted the person -- a case has been filed in this regard. The police have registered the case. The police have stated that Anantkumar Hegde himself did not assault anyone. They have informed me that they will carry out the next phase of the investigation and take appropriate action. The investigation will determine whether Anantkumar Hegde was involved or not.' According to Bengaluru Rural SP C K Baba, 'This is a road rage incident. One vehicle is an XUV and the other is an Innova car. Two cars were coming in front of each other and there was a scuffle between the two. Then they pushed the two cars to the side, then the gunman of former MP Anantkumar Hegde and the driver went and fought with the Innova car driver. Then they beat them up. There is a case.' He said that a case was registered at Dabaspet police station under Sections 117(2), 126(2), 74, 351, and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). SP Baba added, 'They have named three accused. They have complained that there were four more people along with them. First, we have filed an FIR, and then the investigation will be done. We have taken this seriously and registered a case. The injured are in a hospital in Tumkur. We will file a complaint of threatening with a gun. We have secured three people and will arrest them later.'
