Provision of advanced infrastructure to support the power requirements, setting up of a Data City as well as focus on harnessing renewable energy are measures Telangana government has decided to focus on amid the emergence of Hyderabad as a preferred destination for firms setting up data centres.
The proposed Data City will be established near Hyderabad to facilitate world-class infrastructure and with an eye on future needs of data centres, highly placed sources said.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is spearheading the State's drive to attract more data centre investments, especially AI-ready data centres. The government has been actively engaging in dialogue with major global corporations in pursuit of investment opportunities. Since January 2024, Telangana has attracted data centre projects entailing more than ₹1.42 lakh crore investments with total capacity addition of 5,189 MW.
The list does not include projects whose investments are yet to be disclosed, sources said.
Among the projects announced is the high-performance AI compute facility with a cumulative capacity of 20 petaflops or more, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) announced at the Telangana Global AI Summit 2024. The government has already allotted 10 acres in the upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) City.
At the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2024 in Davos, Iron Mountain (previously Web Werks) announced ₹5,200 crore investment on 10 MW networking-heavy data centre in Hyderabad. The facility is set to start operations soon. After commissioning the 10 MW facility, the company plans to build a 100 MW hyperscale data centre in the Southwest part of the city, sources said.
American tech major Amazon Web Services (AWS) is investing in expansion of data centres in Hyderabad and committed ₹60,000 crore investment to add 1,200 MW capacity over the next few years. Yotta Technologies is expected to set up a 50 MW AI-GPU cloud data center with a total of 25,000 GPUs at Bharat Future City.
During WEF 2025, Blackstone and CtrlS Datacenters were among the companies that signed agreements with the State government for establishing data centres. Similarly, investment proposals of other companies, including ST Telemedia, Tillman Global Holdings, Aurum Equity Partners, Sify Technologies and NTT Data are making steady progress, sources said.

Why corporate meets are like Durga Pujo

The article humorously compares high-profile business summits to the Durga Pujo festival, highlighting the similarities in their chaotic and often superficial nature. Attendees at both events navigate crowded spaces, listen to jargon-filled presentations, and partake in the spectacle, often driven by freebies and the desire to be seen rather than genuine engagement. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Oh, there are few things that can top the buzz of top-notch mindfests , whether it's ET's WLF in Delhi, or WEF's powwow in Davos. But have you noticed the similarities they have with fests like Durga Pujo ? Think about it - attending panels and sessions at these events is really the corporate cousin of pandal-hopping. You start with grand intentions: 'I'll attend the AI ethics panel, the tough tariffs talk, and maybe squeeze in the one on quantum tofu.' But 30 mins in, you're swinging your lanyard - the strap or cord around the neck that acts as your attendance/entry pass - and chewing the cud with someone who calls himself 'Dr Rakesh' and insists he's a thought leader in 'synergistic disruption'.Much like pujo pandals, summit panels are judged by spectacle and buzz. One has LED-lit idols, the other has videos accompanied by soft music. Both involve queues, elbowing strangers, and looking at other people looking at you being suitably moved. The moderator is the pundit doubling as pandit, chanting near-Sanskrit buzzwords like 'scalability' and 'intersectionality', with the fervour of aarti. The panelists, like deities, sit elevated, bathed in spotlight, answering questions no one asked before, with answers that leave you delightfully hungry. And the audience? A mix of devotees, sceptics, and those just here for the excellent, free coffee.

Hospitals are increasingly adopting AI systems for patient triage, initial scans, and workflow optimization. While these technologies promise faster and more efficient diagnostics, experts warn that the rapid rollout carries significant to Dr. Datta of AIIMS Delhi, radiology is moving swiftly to agentic AI systems, which can independently perform complex tasks. While this shift offers the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce human workload, current evaluation frameworks are not robust enough. Regulators are still catching up, raising concerns about the safety of deploying AI tools that appear intelligent but have not been fully Datta emphasizes the need for a structured approach to evaluation: pre-deployment benchmarking and red-teaming, real-world testing in hospital information systems, and continuous monitoring post-deployment with uncertainty reporting. He also suggests developing task-specific metrics for radiology AI and a stage-wise evaluation framework for clinical, research, and educational studies highlight AI's potential in healthcare. In the UK, AI-assisted scans have been shown to reduce unnecessary X-rays and missed fractures. NICE, the country's health guidance body, considers these tools safe and reliable, potentially reducing follow-up appointments. Similarly, digital patient platforms like Huma can lower readmission rates by 30% and reduce the time clinicians spend reviewing patients by up to 40%, according to a World Economic Forum the US, standard large language models like ChatGPT have struggled to provide sufficiently evidence-based answers for clinicians. However, hybrid systems combining LLMs with retrieval-augmented methods have shown a significant improvement in providing useful the benefits, experts caution against uncritical adoption. Dr. Caroline Green of the University of Oxford stresses that healthcare professionals need proper training to understand AI limitations and mitigate risks, including errors in information or biased recommendations. Yorkshire-based studies also show that while AI can predict patient transfers accurately in many cases, careful implementation and additional training are essential before widespread use.
