FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Deputies released dash cam video of the nearly 18-mile pursuit that passed through a taxiway of the Fond du Lac County Airport on May 19, ending in the arrest of two men.
The pursuit began around 8 a.m. on Monday, May 19, when a deputy noticed a vehicle on I-41 that had allegedly been involved in a police chase in Grand Chute. After the deputy turned on their emergency lights, the vehicle fled on Highway 151.
Deputies previously stated that during the chase, dispatch got a 911 call from a passenger in the suspect vehicle reportedly 'screaming for help' and asking to be let out of the vehicle.

City approves statue of former Mayor Ron Young at Carroll Creek amphitheater
A statue of former Mayor Ron Young will be added to Carroll Creek Linear Park's amphitheater. The City Council on Thursday unanimously approved an agreement for the donation of the statue to the city and taking responsibility for its maintenance. The statue is set to go up in the first tier of the amphitheater in October 2026 — 50 years after a 1976 flood that devastated downtown Frederick. In the wake of the flood, Young helped orchestrate the Carroll Creek Park project and has been credited with advocating for the arts in the city, as well. Young's mayoral tenure stretched from 1974 to 1990 and he represented Maryland's 3rd District — made up mostly of the city of Frederick — in the state Senate from 2011 to 2023. Young, 84, was elected when he was 33, and took office when he was 34. The group that commissioned the project, the Committee for the Ron Young Sculptural Tribute, hired sculptor Antonio Tobias 'Toby' Mendez to create the 7-foot bronze statue. Mendez is known for his work on similar styled statues of Mahatma Gandhi in New York, Thurgood Marshall in front of the State House in Annapolis, several Baltimore Orioles legends and more. The statue will stand on a 1.5-foot pedestal. It will be funded entirely from private donations including contributions from the Delaplaine Foundation, the Ausherman Family Foundation and others, according to former Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner, a member of the committee behind the statue. Funds beyond what are required to build the statue will be put toward a maintenance fund, Mendez said. City Council Member Donna Kuzemchak previously said she was unsure of supporting a statue in the amphitheater area. However, prior to Thursday's City Council meeting, she said she was willing to vote for it after she was assured by several people it would not block people's view of the stage. Mendez included detailed maintenance instructions for the city to care for the statue. Previously, the city failed to do the required maintenance for another piece of artwork in Carroll Creek Linear Park, the Community Bridge mural. The city is now spending over $1 million on a project to reconstruct the mural. The city is working to revise its policies around public art. It has hired a conservator to take inventory of its art and the maintenance needs of that art.

Mayor Deegan signs resolution calling on Florida to continue funding advanced courses
Mayor Donna Deegan and Councilman Matt Carlucci signed a resolution Monday in support of state-funded advanced placement courses. Since April, local high school students have protested the proposed funding cuts by the Florida legislature. If passed, state leaders would slash funding to AP, IB, CTE, and dual enrollment courses in half. 'We've put in so much work, and this is kind of the payoff,' says Kaden Young. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] Young, a rising senior at Samuel W. Wolfson High School, has led the charge among his peers to advocate for the preservation of these courses. Along with some of his peers, Young has rallied at city council meetings and school board meetings, calling on local leaders to act. In response, Mayor Deegan signed the resolution in hopes that state leaders will reconsider. 'I don't know when I have last been this impressed with a group of young people,' the Mayor remarked. On June 3rd, the Florida Senate proposed to restore full funding to the courses, but the proposal would need support from the Florida House before the change could be enacted. Wolfson rising senior Jarrett Kelley is optimistic, though, saying that he is counting on leaders in Tallahassee to do the right thing. 'I've been on the whole entire advanced track since middle school and look forward to having them fully funded next year,' he says. Without funding from the state, some teachers risk losing their jobs, and students would likely have to pay out of pocket for their Advanced Placement exams.
